HP: Embrace the Darkness

Chapter 4 Learning Alchemy

Aces woke up very early today, before it got dark.

He did not disturb the Duke and Anna, drank a glass of milk and went to the basement to continue reading.

He was a little addicted to the world of magic, and he couldn't extricate himself from the feeling of unveiling the mystery of magic bit by bit.

After reading the parts he hadn't finished yesterday, Asseth went over the magic spells he had learned in his mind, and went up when he felt that the time was almost up.

In the hall, Artes sat elegantly on the sofa, waiting for his parents to have breakfast.

The Duke and Anna went downstairs and were surprised to find Asseth already waiting for them.

The little Asseth was sitting on the sofa as if thinking about something. Disturbed by the sound of the Duke and Anna coming down, he raised his head to say hello to them.

"Good day, father and mother."

The Duke nodded, and Anna came to Asseth and gave him a good morning kiss intimately.

"Good morning, my dear."

After a harmonious family breakfast time

Anna plastered her delicate face, which was different from her usual casual and gentle look. She was particularly serious now.

Aces guessed that it might be because he was going to be taught alchemy today.

The class location this time was not in the basement. It was too cold and not suitable for Anna to make alchemy products.

The two came to Anna's studio.

Anna's studio is divided into two parts. The one inside is an alchemy room dedicated to making advanced alchemical products.

According to Anna, that room itself can be regarded as an alchemical product. It is only safe to develop advanced alchemical products there.

But today is just a simple basic class, so there is no need to go inside, the studio outside is enough.

The studio outside is where Anna refines common simple alchemy products, which is just right for Artes' learning.

The two pulled out chairs and sat down.

Anna was the first to ask Asseth, "What do you think is the essence of alchemy?"

Aces frowned and thought about the alchemy his mother usually mentioned, and he spoke hesitantly.

"Make an object have powers like a charm?"

Anna denied his statement, "No, you are only talking about the superficial meaning of alchemy."

"Aces, remember, alchemy is essentially an exchange of equal value."

"You get what you have to give. The more you get, the more you give. Maybe even your life and soul."

"Actually, magic and alchemy are the same. In the final analysis, they are both methods of using magic power. The same goes for potions."

"For magic, if you pay for magic, you can get the magic spell implemented."

"Alchemy is the same, but it uses another method to inscribe magic words on items to achieve the purpose."

Anna paused, waiting for Asseth to absorb and understand.

After Asses accepted it, he continued to explain.

The two of them spent the whole day in the studio and even had lunch there.

Aces's ability to understand was astonishing. Under Anna's earnest guidance, he quickly absorbed the alchemy knowledge taught by Anna.

Although Anna is young, her alchemy talent is very high, and she has continued to work hard in alchemy over the years.

Therefore, her level is among the best among alchemists.

And Asseth's alchemy talent is obviously better than his own.

In one day, under Anna's guidance, he basically understood the principles of alchemy, and now the only thing left is to get started.

However, Anna doesn't plan to let him get started yet. Although she is very satisfied with his progress, in Anna's opinion, it is best to have a certain level of theoretical knowledge in alchemy before you can make alchemical products by yourself.

After all, alchemy products are much more dangerous than magic potions. If the magic text is wrong, the entire alchemy product will be destroyed, and it may also explode and endanger the life of the refiner.

Out of a mother's heart, she couldn't let her children come into contact with refining alchemical products now.

The two of them were immersed in the harmonious teaching atmosphere and couldn't extricate themselves, until the Duke came back and found that no one was there and came to find someone.

The Duke is very helpless. It doesn't matter if his wife is an alchemist, and now even his son is.

Sometimes he doubted whether alchemy was important to his wife.

Under the Duke's ruthless threat, the guilty two people immediately promised that there would be no next time, and they would never forget to eat because of teaching.

The Duke doubted their assurances.

So he turned around and told the house elves that they must wait until they eat next time and not eat anything in the studio.

The two people who were restricted could only agree.

After dinner, Asseth found his father in the study, hoping that he could help him find a magic wand.

"You want a wand? Why? Give me a reason, Asseth, you're not even eleven yet."

"Father, some of my experiments on improving spells require the use of a wand."

The Duke frowned at Asseth.

"I remember I told you that your current knowledge reserve is not enough to achieve the improvement spell."

“And our family’s wands are all made by ourselves, looking for the most suitable materials.

Your mother's family will engrave your own magic words on the wand to ensure that the magic spell is more powerful. "

"I know father, I don't want to improve the spell rashly. I just use the wand to see the trajectory of normal spell casting. I don't want to improve the spell now."

"And father, I just need a wand now, not my wand, any kind will do."

The Duke looked his son up and down and agreed to the request after confirming that his son had no stupid ideas.

"No problem, getting a second-hand wand is a no-brainer for me."

"I'll give it to you in two days."

After the Duke finished speaking, he waved his hand away.

Aces saluted the Duke respectfully and then slowly exited the study.

After Asses left, the Duke did not immediately attend to official duties.

He stood up and took out a two-way mirror from a locked cabinet.

After inputting magic power, the double-sided mirror lit up, and a slovenly middle-aged man appeared inside.

"Huh? Isn't this the Duke of Devonshire? What do you want from me?"

The Duke looked at this sloppy man with disgust.

"I need a second-hand wand, as soon as possible, and a clean one."

The middle-aged man raised his eyebrows and looked at the Duke, teasing.

"Your Majesty, the Duke is planning to do something big, and he even used a second-hand wand."

The Duke was obviously familiar with this man, and was not angry at his teasing, but only warned him.

"Don't ask about things you shouldn't ask. I think you should understand this."

Seeing how serious the Duke was, the man stopped being careless and corrected his attitude.

"give you tomorrow."

After saying that, the double-sided mirror immediately dimmed.

The Duke slowly put down the double-sided mirror and sighed. He was actually hesitant. He didn't know whether it was the right thing to do.

He was worried about Asseth because his talent was too great.

He was afraid that his child would go astray and that he would not be able to protect him.

He understands that his child is easy to break if he is too strong, and Asseth is too pure.

Hope he is right.

The Duke's eyes fell solemnly on the desk in front of him.
