HP: Embrace the Darkness

Chapter 34 Carter

"Behavior, you must have been observing me when you were provoking Elise."

"At first I thought you were asking for help in a hidden way, but when I stopped you later, I realized something was wrong."

"Humans have a strong survival instinct. When faced with a life threat, they won't think too much and will just desperately grab at straws."

"In other words, your first reaction at that time should be to seize every opportunity to survive, instead of remembering to ask me back."

Carter frowned and questioned.

"This doesn't mean anything. Maybe it's because I have a calm personality?"

"Okay, let's talk about your other mistake."

"There is something wrong with the person you are asking for help. When a person is in a life-or-death situation, he will not ask for help from someone weaker than himself, unless he has other intentions."

Asess deliberately emphasized the words "there are other plans."

Carter was not convinced and then retorted.

"You are not weak, you even defeated me."

"But you still subconsciously think that I'm just a child and underestimate me, don't you?"

Aces asked lightly.

Carter was speechless, and he looked at Asseth in disbelief.

"Did you think so much at that time?"

Aces nodded casually.

"You are really a monster." Carter sighed.

Aces smiled and said nothing, and felt the magic power in his body. It was very good, enough to deal with Carter.

Aces slowly raised the wand in his hand and shook it threateningly.

Seeing this, Carter took a few steps back and lowered his hands naturally, showing a relaxed state, indicating that he would not do anything.

He didn't want to be an enemy of someone with brains, strength, and family.

He made a mistake this time. Fortunately this time the price was not lives.

Aces admired Carter's retreating movements. He was able to bend and stretch, which was good.

"I can't beat you, I give up."

Carter said directly, he didn't think he could beat a man who killed Voldemort alone, even if he looked very weak now.

Aces had no intention of taking action against Carter. His purpose just now was to force Carter out. Now, he probably guessed it.

Aces turned his wand and cast a cleaning spell on himself, and the dust on the wall rubbed against him.

Then he put down the wand naturally.

Seeing that Asseth had no intention of speaking, Carter could only speak first.

"The Halloween dinner is about to start, let's get out of here first?"

Asseth has no objections. Now is not the time to elaborate. His back-up plan is probably coming, and he needs to deal with it now.

In this way, the two left the Room of Requirement chatting harmoniously, as if the big battle and confrontation just now did not exist at all.

In the corridor, Carter and Asseth were testing each other back and forth.

Halfway through the conversation, Asseth seemed to remember something and praised Carter meaningfully.

"That's great. I feel relieved to see how good your Occlumency is."

Carter didn't understand what Asseth meant and was about to ask.

A gloomy voice came from behind them.

"Look what I found. I didn't expect these two gentlemen to be so interested. They left the dinner party attended by everyone in the school and came here for a date?"

Familiar voice, familiar venom.

Carter really froze this time, Merlin's wig, this was the voice of their dean!

Although Asseth was prepared in his heart, he still felt guilty and froze for a moment.

Snape's face darkened when he saw the two of them lingering on without looking back.

"What, do you need me to ask you to turn back?"

How dare they ask their dean to invite him?

The two men immediately turned around and faced the angry snake king with a sneer.

"Professor Snape, we can explain." Carter said anxiously.

Snape was stunned for a moment when he saw Artes' almost pale face, and then raised his eyebrows.

"You better have a reasonable explanation."

Under Snape's cold gaze, Carter was stunned and speechless.

Asses didn't want to lie to him, so he didn't say anything.

For a moment, neither of them spoke.

Carter quietly poked Asseth behind his back.

Speak, why don't you speak? Weren't you very good at speaking just now? I was stunned for a moment.

Asses remained motionless, hinting to him with his eyes, "Go ahead and tell me, aren't you very good at lying?" Now it’s a lie!

The little private actions between the two were caught by Snape, and he almost laughed out of anger.

"If your explanation is silence, then I guarantee that you will end up miserable."

Snape's words twined around their faces like a poisonous snake's cold tongue.

The two were so frightened that they stood still.

Seeing that Asseth had made up his mind not to speak, Carter could only explain.

"Professor Snape, I was the one who lost to Artes before because I was not convinced, so I came to him specifically for a discussion today."

As Carter spoke, Occlumency began to operate. He lowered his head to hide the hollowness in his eyes.

Snape would naturally not believe such nonsense.

Apart from anything else, with the strength of that giant monster in Asses, he was sure that Carter was no match.

Besides... Snape looked at the two of them with an unclear expression, suddenly pulled out his wand and cast a silent check charm on them.

The moment Snape pulled out his wand, Carter subconsciously tensed up, ready to dodge at any moment.

Silent spell, although I don’t know what the spell is, it’s better to avoid it. Carter thought.

It wasn't until he saw that the spell was directed at Asseth that he relaxed.

Sensing Carter's sensitive reaction, Snape looked at Carter calmly and observantly.

Carter was very reassured about whether Asseth could avoid the curse, which was not very fast.

But unlike what Carter thought, Artes did not avoid Snape's curse. He stood calmly and accepted Snape's curse.

Carter couldn't understand why Artes trusted Professor Snape so much?

Snape sneered after receiving feedback from the curse.

"So, Mr. Cavendish's sparring caused him to run out of magic power?"

Aces wanted to struggle to the death.

"Professor, I still have magic power in my body and it has not been exhausted."

"That's enough, don't think I can't see that the magic power in your body is the magic potion you drank to replenish it."

"Don't display your meager knowledge in front of a Potions Master."

Snape yelled angrily.
