HP: Embrace the Darkness
Chapter 270 Official substitute teaching
A glimmer of light shone between the staff, and the temperature gradually increased. When the light reached a certain level, Neville whispered "hot".
The light disappeared immediately. Artes removed his wand and looked helplessly at the red spots burned on Neville's wrist.
"As long as it catches your attention, it doesn't have to be so hot."
It's not like he wanted to kill Neville.
"Forget it, I'll just adjust the temperature then and continue making your potion now."
Aces healed the injury on Neville's hand and returned the wand to Neville.
Before leaving, I also gave a reminder.
"Your wand doesn't suit you. You should get a different wand."
The first Potions class of this semester came to a successful conclusion thanks to Assis's efforts.
The little wizard happily packed up his things and ran out of the classroom.
"Goodbye, Professor Cavendish."
Asseth put away the potions they handed over on the podium and nodded to them.
"Why doesn't Dean have class today?"
After all the other little wizards had left the classroom, Draco dismissed Goyle and Crabbe and came to the podium to find Arthas.
Aces put away the last bottle of perfect potion and glanced at Draco, who had a bored expression on his face.
"He has something to do, why are you asking?"
"It's my father. He wrote to me and asked me to ask the dean why the beauty potion was not given to him."
Based on Sif's seriousness, Lucius might not have any beauty potions to use during this period, Artes thought to himself.
"Wait a little longer. He's not free. If that doesn't work, you can ask your father and I'll do it for him. By the way, help me make an appointment with your father."
Out of trust, Draco didn't ask what Ases wanted to do, and nodded in agreement.
"By the way, why don't you ask yourself?" Asseth looked at Draco suspiciously.
Draco smiled guiltily, then looked confident again.
"It's not that you didn't reply to my letter, I've been struggling with this matter all vacation, and as a result, my thesis may, probably, almost not be satisfied with the dean."
paper? Asseth thought of the papers on his desk that had no trace of reading, and the corner of his mouth twitched.
"If it's a paper, you can rest assured, he won't read it."
"Why? The dean corrects papers every time." Draco asked puzzledly.
Aces picked up the basket containing the potion and walked out, repeating what he just said.
"He's not free, so I'll most likely be the one to revise your paper."
Draco couldn't help but be speechless. He took over the class and corrected the paper. His brother really worked hard without complaining.
Aces carried the basket for a while, and after being bumped several times by the little wizards coming and going, he simply floated the basket high in the air and followed him.
"Aces?"
Professor McGonagall called uncertainly.
Artes stopped and turned around, looking at Professor McGonagall who was holding the textbook.
"Why are you holding the potion? Are you subbing for Potions? What's wrong with Severus?"
Professor McGonagall walked up in two or three steps and walked side by side in the corridor with Arthas.
Upon hearing the witch's question, Asseth did not answer immediately, but placed a magic spell around the two of them to prevent eavesdropping.
Professor McGonagall looked puzzled.
"What's wrong with you?"
"Professor is very good. He should be catching up on his sleep now. Well... Professor McGonagall——"
"Call me Minerva, you are no longer my student." Professor McGonagall joked.
"Okay, Minerva, do you remember the new herbs I talked about at the dinner that night?"
Professor McGonagall suddenly realized. "Are you saying Severus is working on that?"
Aces nodded sadly, "The professor stayed up for a few nights studying this thing, and now he is catching up on sleep, so I took his place."
"Oh, Severus, it's true, no matter how important herbs are, they are not as important as the body."
Hearing this, Asseth nodded in agreement.
"I tried to persuade him in the same way, but it was of no use, so I was wondering if I should give the professor some time to concentrate on his research?"
"You mean to tell Severus to stop teaching?"
"Almost, otherwise he wouldn't be able to survive. He studies at night and has to attend classes during the day. Even Merlin wouldn't be able to survive."
Professor McGonagall thought for a second and took Artes to turn a corner. This was the way to the principal's office.
"You tell me what you think first."
"This herb holds a huge stake, not just for our family, but for the Professor and Hogwarts as well."
"If the professor really succeeds in developing this herb, then the second-level Order of Merlin will definitely be in his possession. Even the first-level medal is not impossible. This is also a good thing for Hogwarts."
"So I plan to temporarily take over the Potions class during this period, and then continue the class after the professor is finished."
While the two were talking, they came to the door of the principal's office.
"I probably understand what you're talking about. Let's go and talk to the principal."
"Cookies."
Professor McGonagall said the password with a helpless expression, and the door slowly opened.
The two walked in and immediately saw Dumbledore trying to hide the cookie.
"Oh, it's Minerva and Professor Cavendish, why are you here?" Dumbledore held up the cookie and looked at Professor McGonagall awkwardly.
Professor McGonagall's face darkened when she saw him.
"If I hadn't come, I wouldn't have known that Albus you were stealing dessert again! Merlin's beard! Your teeth have been hurting for several days!"
Speaking of this, Dumbledore became discouraged, "It's not that Severus didn't give us the tooth-healthy potion." He muttered and complained.
"Severus you are not that free."
Professor McGonagall confiscated the cookie unselfishly and repeated what Artes had just said.
Dumbledore stroked his beard and looked at Arthas thoughtfully.
"Speaking of which, Professor Cavendish is really kind to Severus."
Artes was unmoved, "Headmaster Dumbledore should understand the principle of mutual benefit, right?"
"This matter is of great benefit to our family. I naturally hope that the professor can succeed. I saw the progress last night and it is very promising."
"Severus has always been so good at potions."
Asseth raised his eyebrows. Sif was excellent in more than just potions.
But he didn't refute Dumbledore's words.
"If that's the case, what about this?"
"Okay, but you have to discuss it with Severus yourself."
"Of course, I will. Regarding the new varieties of medicinal herbs, I hope that the professors will keep it a secret. This news cannot be spread before success."
Ace's expression turned slightly serious.
Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall also understood his difficulties and nodded to agree to this request.
"And one more thing."
Ace's voice changed.
"The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor has a special status. I hope he can stay away from the little wizards that day."
"How did you know?"
Dumbledore's eyes became extremely sharp for a moment, looking straight at Asseth, as if he wanted to see through his thoughts.
Aces was indifferent, not even changing his breathing rate.
