Tang Xin spent New Year's Day of 1971 at the Jiang family. Although she was a little uncomfortable with the occasion, fortunately all her family members came to the old house. Except for not having dinner at home, everything else was no different from being at home. It was a pity that Jiang Wenbo did not come back.

This year's Spring Festival is in January, the first Spring Festival after marriage. Of course Jiang Wenbo will come back. It won't be long before the two of them can meet each other. It's a happy thought.

In mid-January, Beijing was hit by heavy snow. This year's snow was heavier than in previous years, so everyone started heating up their kangs early. Tang Xin also started heating up her home early.

"It's really too cold today. Is this going to be a cold winter?"

Tang Xin trotted into the house and Sister Zheng took the coat she took off.

"Hurry up and clean the snow off your feet, and get on the kang to warm up for a while. The weather is almost as bad as back home."

"Yeah, it got cold too quickly this year."

Tang Xin looked outside and sighed.

"Aunt, how are you today?"

Tang Xin looked at her aunt who was sitting on the kang.

My aunt caught a cold a couple of days ago and her cough has not gotten better. Tang was worried and came to visit her every day after get off work.

"I'm fine. You guys are making a fuss. As we get older, it's inevitable that we'll feel uncomfortable sometimes. Don't worry too much. Can you stay at home today?"

The aunt leaned back and looked at Tang Xin lovingly, then reached out to pull Tang Xin onto the kang.

"Well, I'm staying at home today. My father-in-law is on a business trip, and my mother-in-law is working overtime today, so I came back to stay with you for the night. It happens to be a day off tomorrow, so I'll just be lazy at home."

Tang Xin leaned over to her aunt and leaned her head into her arms. After this year, her aunt would be 77 years old. Several elderly people in the family were all over years old, which was already advanced in age. If any of them had a headache or fever, it would be very worrying.

"Well, that's perfect. Your brother and sister-in-law said they want to have mutton hotpot tonight. I guess they will be able to buy some after get off work. You're in for a treat." said my aunt with a smile.

"Well, that's great. Eating mutton hotpot on a snowy day is something that only you can do."

Tang Xin likes to eat hot pot, whether it is mutton shabu-shabu or Sichuan hot pot.

Tang Xin was chatting with her aunt, and soon, Tang's father, mother, brother Zhanbo, and sister-in-law Chen Xi all came back.

The first thing everyone does when they come back is to visit my aunt's room. My aunt is very happy about the children's care and concern.

While eating, everyone started talking about their respective jobs. Tang Xin's work arrangement had been finalized. She was originally planned to be responsible for the supervision work in Henan Province. Now they were just waiting for Tang Xin to take up the post after the New Year.

"It's good to go to Henan Province. At least you and Xiao Bai can be together more often, unlike now when you can only see each other a few times a year. As a couple, it's better not to live apart as much as possible."

Tang's mother picked up a piece of mutton with chopsticks and gave Tang Xin a piece of mutton, asking Tang Xin to eat more.

"Yeah, I think so too. Although I will be on business trips frequently when I go to Henan Province, at least I can go back often. Xintian is very close to the provincial capital, and it won't interfere with my work." Tang Xin nodded.

After dinner, Tang Xin decided to stay at home. My aunt was not in a good mental state and went to bed early. Tang Xin was not sleepy, so she and Chen Xi chatted for a long time before going to bed. Since they got married, they had more common language.

It was not until the brother called them again and again that the two reluctantly ended their conversation and returned to their respective rooms to rest.

Tang Xin slept with her great aunt tonight. She originally wanted to be closer to her great aunt, but she didn't expect that her great aunt would have a fever in the middle of the night.

My aunt wasn't in a good condition. Tang Xin fed her some hot water and then took her temperature. It was 38 degrees. That was not good. It was too high and she had to take medicine.

"Sister Zheng, Sister Zheng, my aunt has a fever. Is there any medicine at home?"

In the middle of the night, Tang Xin knocked on Sister Zheng's door.

Hearing the sound, Tang's father, Tang's mother and Sister Zheng all got up.

"What's going on? Is your aunt having a fever? I'll go boil some water and wipe the old lady's body to cool her down."

Dad Tang put on his clothes and went to the kitchen.

"I'll go check it out, Sister Zheng, you go find the medicine."

Mother Tang walked out of the room and went straight to her aunt's room.

"When did the fever start? How many degrees is it?" asked Tang's mother.

"At about 38 o'clock, she started to have a fever. My aunt kept tossing and turning. I felt her temperature and it was quite high, so I took it and it was degrees."

Tang Xin said worriedly.

"Aunt, how do you feel? Let's take some medicine first. If you're still not feeling better by dawn, we'll go to the hospital."

Mother Tang helped my aunt up and fed her medicine.

"Okay, I'm fine. You don't have to worry so much. Just take some medicine and rest."

The aunt's voice was a little weak, but she still comforted them.

The sound of Tang's father boiling water alarmed Zhanbo and Chen Xi who lived in the front yard. They also rushed over with their clothes on. Chen Xi was a doctor after all, and she and Tang Xin worked together to cool down the aunt physically.

Looking at the children busying themselves for her, my aunt smiled with satisfaction.

Although I have no children in this life, won’t I still enjoy the blessing of my children when I get old?

Maybe it was the medicine, or maybe it was the effect of Tang Xin and Chen Xi's physical cooling, but soon the aunt's temperature dropped. After tossing and turning for a long time, the old lady was tired and she fell into a deep sleep.

"Okay, my aunt is asleep, you all should go back. We all have work tomorrow."

Tang Xin looked at her sleeping aunt and asked everyone to go back and rest.

"Let me stay with you. If your aunt is feeling unwell, I can help her."

Chen Xi shook her head. She was also worried about her aunt.

"Okay, Mom, Dad, Sister Zheng, let's go back first. It's useless to have so many people guarding here. Let them stay with Auntie."

Zhanbo spoke and glanced at Chen Xi, telling them that it would be more convenient for them to take care of their aunt.

"Let me accompany the old lady. You young people, Tang Bao and Chen Xi, should get more rest."

Sister Zheng doesn't want to leave.

"Sister Zheng, I know you're worried, but we're old after all and can't stand it any longer, so let the two children take care of us. We're all next door, so if anything happens, they can just call and they'll hear it."

Mother Tang knew that Sister Zheng was worried because she had a deep relationship with the old lady, but her cousin was already asleep and it was really useless to have so many people guarding her.

"Yes, Sister Zheng, you should have a good rest tonight, and get up early tomorrow to make some light and tasty food for your cousin to nourish her."

Tang's father also spoke up to persuade him.

This sentence convinced Sister Zheng. The old lady had been tossing and turning all night, so she should prepare some nutritious food for her tomorrow. So she agreed and let Mother Tang take her back to her room to rest.

Tang Xin and Chen Xi stayed and slept next to their aunt again.

My aunt slept well that night. When she woke up the next morning, she was not in good spirits, but her appetite was still good, so everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

By the evening, my aunt's fever had gone away and everyone felt relieved.

But Tang Xin still mentioned it to Chen Xi, and decided to take her aunt to the hospital for a check-up when the weather is good in a couple of days, after all, she is so old.

There are people arranged by the government to take care of her grandparents and grandparents-in-law, especially Mr. Tang, who has a health doctor who gives him regular physical examinations, so she has nothing to worry about.

Tang Xin also told her great aunt about this, but her great aunt didn't want to go for a check-up as it was almost the New Year.

"It's almost the New Year, and I don't have anything serious to do. I'll go check it out after the New Year."

Older people always have many taboos.

"Just listen to my aunt. I've already checked her out. There's nothing serious wrong with me. I'm just too old."

Chen Xi put down the stethoscope in his hand and spoke.

"Look, I'm telling you, even if you don't believe me, you should at least believe Chen Xi." My aunt muttered.

After hearing what Chen Xi said, everyone felt relieved for the time being. The Chinese New Year was coming soon, so let's just celebrate it first.
