Originally, Wang Yi didn't want to build a wafer factory for self-research and production.

Although this wafer factory is small in scale and its total production capacity is only 2.5 pieces per month, it is sufficient for Xingyi Technology to use it itself for the time being.

Mobile phone chips are relatively complex. A 12-inch wafer can cut out 700 mobile phone chips. Taking into account the yield rate, based on an 80% yield rate, that means 560 mobile phone chips.

2.5 pieces per month means 1400 million mobile phone chips, and 1.68 million mobile phone chips per year, which is enough for Xingyi mobile phones for the time being.

As for low-end smart home chips, they are not valuable and there is no need to take up valuable production capacity, so they can be directly outsourced to SMIC.

In the past, Xiaomi’s smart home chip was sold for only ten yuan each.

Xingyi Semiconductor develops and produces its own products and can sell one chip for one yuan.

Even if it is outsourced to SMIC, the cost is only around 1.2 yuan, a difference of just a few cents.

Xingyi Wafer Factory has limited production capacity, so it is better to produce high-value mobile phone chips.
