Chapter 305: Copying Scriptures and Meeting Phoenix
At first, Liu Lingyin was frightened by the sharp and fierce look from the decadent blond uncle, but when she saw that the other party quickly withdrew his gaze, Liu Lingyin responded with a polite nod and smile.
The other person probably wasn't the type who liked to laugh. He had a burly figure, a scruffy beard, and a face that looked decadent and serious. He nodded slightly in an unnatural manner in response.
Two strangers who didn't know each other met by chance, nodded and smiled.
After Liu Lingyin and the blond man left one after the other, they met again in the lobby of the temple where scriptures were copied.
In the ancient and solemn temple, the wide lobby floor is covered with bright red carpets that stretch far into the distance. Dozens of exquisite wooden tables are neatly arranged in the lobby.
People who want to copy scriptures choose their seats in the order they enter the hall. They can choose to kneel or sit cross-legged, which is entirely based on their personal habits. Every table in the hall is equipped with a complete and exquisite study, providing sufficient writing tools and materials for these copyists. However, at this moment, even the tallest and most burly travelers, facing the small desk in front of them, have to temporarily put down their pride and self-esteem, curl up their originally upright bodies, humbly lean over the desk, and begin to focus on the next journey of copying scriptures.
Liu Lingyin entered the lobby and found her seat according to the order. Before she sat down, she saw the decadent blond uncle whom she had met once before, huddling his tall and burly body and sitting cross-legged to the left of her seat.
The tall and sturdy man with long arms and legs was now sitting cross-legged and hunching his body. He was holding a brush in his right hand and began to copy the Heart Sutra carefully and attentively.
The way he carefully and seriously copied the scriptures really seemed out of place with his tall body!
But no matter how out of place it was, it had nothing to do with Liu Lingyin, so she might as well join the ranks of copying scriptures.
Liu Lingyin sat down gently, picked up a brush from the table, dipped it in ink, and began to copy the Heart Sutra. Her handwriting was beautiful and neat, and each stroke carried a sense of tranquility.
The blond uncle next to him didn't seem to notice Liu Lingyin's arrival. He was concentrating on copying the scriptures, as if the whole world consisted of only him and the pen in his hand.
Time passed by minute by minute, and the hall was so quiet that only the sound of the pen rubbing against the paper could be heard. Liu Lingyin occasionally raised her head to look at the people around her, then lowered her head to continue copying.
After an unknown amount of time, Liu Lingyin finally finished copying the Heart Sutra. She put down her pen, stretched her aching wrist, and felt an indescribable peace in her heart.
As it is written in the Heart Sutra:
Form is not different from emptiness, emptiness is not different from form.
All the images seen by the eyes are equal to emptiness, and are transformed by the innate great Dao ancestral qi of the real nature of the Tathagata, just like an illusion. Therefore, all the color dust images seen by the naked eye are no different from emptiness.
The emptiness of nothingness, the Tathagata's true storehouse nature, the innate great Dao ancestral Qi, is the essence of all the various forms of color dust that the naked eye sees. Whether they are tangible or intangible, visible or invisible to the naked eye, there is no difference. They are all the Tathagata's true storehouse nature, the innate Dao one Qi. Therefore, there is no difference between emptiness and all the forms of color dust that the naked eye sees.
Want to know that line, same is the case.
All feelings, thoughts, behaviors, and consciousness are the same as the Tathagata's true nature and the innate great way Qi. They are all empty and void, like an illusion. You should view them in this way.
Look at everything you experience with a clear and peaceful mind, let the situation change with your heart, and if your heart is still, everything is empty.
Hearing the sound of shuffling papers coming from the left, Liu turned his gaze and looked over there.
Only then did she realize that the blond uncle next to her had just finished copying the last word.
The two looked at each other, nodded to each other, and then shifted their gaze to continue reading the scriptures they had copied.
As for the others, sorry, they had all left, leaving only the two of them sitting in the hall copying scriptures.
After the ink on the paper dried, the two people stood up one after the other and handed the copied scriptures to the monks who collected them in order.
Liu Lingyin walked in front, holding the scriptures gently in both hands and handed them to one of the young monks.
A young and handsome monk with long hair, with an upright figure wearing a monk's robe, with delicate features and a faint smile on his smooth face, looked at Liu Lingyin with gentle eyes.
He put his slender white hands together, chanted a Buddhist name, and gently took the scripture with both hands.
"Amitabha."
As for the issue of Japanese monks keeping their hair, you can just ignore it after seeing it too many times. After all, Japanese monks can still drink alcohol, eat meat, marry and have children, so keeping their hair is not a big deal.
He clasped his hands together and said thank you calmly.
"Amitabha, thank you, little master."
After all, these copied Heart Sutras need to be sorted out and then sent together to the scripture enshrinement place in the temple.
After Liu Lingyin handed in the copied Heart Sutra, she turned and left.
She didn't know that the handsome monk with long hair who took the Heart Sutra from her showed a surprised expression.
After Hanae Hideaki took the copied Heart Sutra handed over by Liu Lingyin, he was stunned when he saw the content on it.
He didn't expect that Liu Lingyin actually copied the scriptures with the brush provided by the temple. He thought that only the guy from Byodoin knew how to copy with a brush!
After all, copying scriptures with a brush is really time-consuming and difficult. And there are not many people who can use a brush. Haven’t you seen many people who come to copy the Heart Sutra bring their own brushes?
However...there are differences when copying with a brush.
Look at the Heart Sutra that the senior brother next to him took over from Byodo-in and then look at the Heart Sutra in his own hand.
There were no other pilgrims in the lobby, and Byodoin was an old acquaintance.
Hanae Hideaki smiled gently on his handsome face, and said jokingly: "Phoenix, you have grown from a handsome young man to a vicissitudes uncle in just two years. This growth is as fast as a keyboard and can be seen with the naked eye.
But look at you, you have been copying scriptures for so many years, but I didn’t expect your handwriting is still the same as before!
Look at what the girl in front of you wrote, and then look at your doggy style."
There was a trace of unnaturalness on the face of the weathered uncle of Byodoin Phoenix.
As for this seemingly gentle friend, if the other party said something else, he could still retort rudely.
But the other party was talking about calligraphy, so he really had nothing to say in response.
Obviously, the Japanese he wrote with a hard pen looked very beautiful, but when he wrote these square characters, it felt like the horizontal lines were not horizontal and the vertical lines were not vertical. When he wrote with a brush, they looked like artistic characters.
After so many years, he was still the same, so every time he came to the temple to copy scriptures, he would deliberately be the last one to hand it in.
I secretly looked at the Heart Sutra which was spread out in Hanae Hideaki's hand and had not yet been put away.
Although I don't know what font the other party used, the font is neat and beautiful, and the handwriting is clear and powerful, showing the writer's superb skills and unique understanding of beauty. Every stroke seems to be a well-thought-out display, just right to outline the shape of the word, with both strength and softness. It's like a beautiful painting, making people linger.
Although they copied the same scriptures, his handwriting was artistic and different from others, while others' handwriting was like art and could be appreciated.
This calligraphy is really different from playing tennis. In tennis, you can make up for it with hard work, but if you lose...
There was a fierce light in Byodoin's eyes. If he lost... he would win back by any means necessary.
I can think of calligraphy...
The Phoenix of Byodoin Temple had a heart attack...
He didn't know how to win it back, after all, it was written by his own hand.
Does he want to discard the big size and use the small one?
If the right hand doesn’t work, what about the left hand?
It's impossible without even thinking about it.
Take another look at the Heart Sutra written by that girl, I am so...envious.
Hanae Hideaki looked at the envious expression of Byodoin Phoenix and couldn't help but chuckle.
"Hehehe..." (^-^)
The Phoenix of Byodoin didn't know that her bad friend would hold back his fart, so she took advantage of the other's good-looking face, which didn't say anything nice, to say, "I'm leaving first!"
"Okay!! Remember to have a vegetarian meal!"
He waved his hands and said, "Got it!!"
It was almost noon, and the tall and strong Byodo-in was indeed hungry after copying the Heart Sutra. He did not want to stay in the temple any longer, and planned to fill his stomach first and then eat outside, otherwise he would not be able to feel full by eating only vegetarian food.
With a step of his long legs, he walked towards the temple's dining hall.
Liu Lingyin didn't know how to go to the dining hall to eat vegetarian meals. She stood at the door of the dining hall, wondering whether she should ask someone.
A low but still majestic and deep male voice came from behind to inquire.
"Are you going to have a vegetarian meal?"
Liu Lingyin turned around and saw that it was the decadent blond uncle. She raised her head, smiled at him, and nodded:
"Yes. I was thinking about whether I should ask someone about the process of eating vegetarian food here!"
Byodoin had a serious face and sharp eyes, but explained in a calm tone: "Go to the guest hall first to report. The guest hall will inform the dining hall. If there are seats, the guest hall will arrange for us to sit. If there are no seats, it means that we are not destined to eat today, so we will have to eat outside the temple by ourselves."
Liu Lingyin raised her head, looked straight into his eyes, and listened to his explanation.
This guy's aura is really strong, and it's the fierce kind. His face is fierce, but his aura is peaceful. This guy is fierce from the inside out.
If the other person hadn't spoken first, no one would have thought that he was a kind-hearted person.
"I'm Liu Lingyin, thank you so much, brother."
Liu Lingyin originally wanted to say uncle, but then she remembered that there are many examples of people in this world who have aged prematurely at a young age, like Sanada and Tezuka... who are lessons from the past, so she quickly changed it to elder brother.
"It's just a small favor. You're welcome. I'm Byodoin Phoenix."
"Phoenix? A divine beast! What a great name!" Liu Lingyin exclaimed in admiration.
Byodoin Phoenix: “…”
Illusion?
Why did he always feel that the other person's words of praise for the divine beast did not make him happy?
