Later, Luffy and Zoro met Nami in Orange Town, and they worked together to defeat the pirate Bucky and rescue the local people [122]. Then they landed on Precious Beast Island and met the pirate Kamon [123] who was in a box. In Silob Village, the Straw Hats defeated the pirate Crow who was hiding as the butler of the Keya family, and successfully recruited Usopp to join the gang, and also obtained the pirate ship Golden Merry [108].

Later at the restaurant on the sea, Luffy met Sanji and defeated Creek, the overlord of the East China Sea. Zoro was seriously injured in a fight with Joracol Mihawk. Nami stole the Merry and went to Cocoa West Village. After Sanji joined the Straw Hat Pirates, Luffy and others went to Cocoa West Village[109].

In Rogue Town, Luffy accepted the test of fate on the execution platform. After that, the Straw Hats were chased by Navy Captain Smoker, and then Monkey D. Dragon appeared to rescue Luffy. Later at sea, the five Straw Hat Pirates each expressed their dreams, and together they entered the Great Channel through the Upside Down Mountain [114].

Later, Bellamy injured Luffy's friend Wenblan Kulik in order to plunder the treasure. In order to take revenge, Luffy found Bellamy and defeated him with one punch [134]. Later, the Saruyama Alliance helped the Straw Hats renovate the Merry, and Luffy and others successfully landed in the Sky Island God's Kingdom.
