Time in a collapsing world
Chapter 1105 Night
Night falls over the vast snowfields of Siberia. The cold wind, like the whisper of death, mercilessly blows across this desolate land blocked by ice and snow.
In this dead white world, the tower-like building called Babylon Laboratory stands alone and proudly, its tall black shadow casting a suffocating shadow in the moonlight.
The lights inside the laboratory were dim and flickering, casting mottled light and shadows through the closed windows. Rather than bringing warmth, these lights added a weird and uneasy atmosphere.
Occasionally, screams and cries coming from inside the laboratory were carried by the cold wind to the snowfield, becoming an ominous sound in this desolate place.
Outside the tower, several guards wearing heavy winter clothing patrolled in the cold wind, their eyes were cold, and the weapons in their hands flashed coldly. These guards were not only to protect the safety of the laboratory, but also to suppress any possible resistance.
Inside the Babylon Laboratory, in a cold room, the girls were wearing thin clothes, huddled on the cold floor, trying to find a trace of warmth in each other's body temperature.
Their bodies were pressed together, their arms wrapped around each other, forming a small human wall to block out the cold that seeped in through the walls and floor.
Aurora and Celine hugged each other, their body temperature transferred between each other's skin.
Agata was huddled together with three other girls. The former's red hair stood out in the dim emergency light, like a warm flame burning in the darkness.
Galina was wrapped in the middle by the remaining girls. Feeling the warmth from them, a comfortable smile appeared on the corner of her mouth.
The young man, who was unable to lie down and sleep properly because of the shackles on his body, slowly opened his eyes in the silence.
Wasn’t he sent back…?
The young man stood up slowly, and saw that the shackles on his body had naturally fallen off one by one.
"Well……"
The girls' breathing and occasional mumbling could be heard in their ears, and the sound of the shackles falling off made the girls, who were already having trouble sleeping, frown slightly.
The young man's eyes swept over them lightly, making sure no one was awakened by the sound of the shackles falling off. He took a few steps forward, his movements were almost silent, like a ghost in the night. He raised his eyes again and looked at the surveillance camera in the corner. The cold lens reflected a faint light in the dim light, like an unsleeping eye, peeping into every corner of the room.
The boy's eyes moved slightly, and he saw two people sitting at the other end of the monitor, but they didn't seem to pay attention to him. Their expressions looked tired, one of them was yawning, and the other was flipping through the documents in his hand nonchalantly, occasionally looking up at the monitor screen, but because there were too many rooms for the experimental subjects, he just glanced at it casually and quickly returned his eyes to the documents.
The corners of the boy's mouth slightly lifted, revealing an almost imperceptible smile. He slowly walked to the door of the room, and without the need for a key, he walked directly through the steel door as if passing through a water curtain.
A person in the monitoring room glanced at the surveillance again, and this time he noticed the scene in the room where the boy was. But what was strange was that the screen showed that the boy was still in the same posture, bound by shackles, leaning against the wall alone with his eyes closed.
Outside the "cell", the corridor was dim and long, with only occasional emergency lights providing faint light.
The figure of the young man was looming in the shadows, his steps were light and quick, without making any sound. He shuttled through the maze-like corridors, as if he knew the layout of this place very well.
His heartbeat was steady, his breathing even, and although he knew his actions could be discovered at any time, his face did not show the slightest bit of nervousness. His goal was clear, his actions were decisive, and every step was full of purpose.
The boy's fingers gently touched the wall, feeling the cold metal texture. His eyes became sharper at every turn, alert for possible guards. His ears were also extremely sensitive, capturing the slightest sound around him, and any movement would not escape his perception.
He passed through one room after another, and each room was filled with despair and pain, just like the one they were in. The boy occasionally heard painful sounds coming from the room, and he stopped for a few seconds before continuing to move forward.
Finally, he came to a seemingly ordinary door, but unlike other doors, this door did not have an electronic lock on the handle, only a simple mechanical lock.
The boy's eyes changed color again and again, and finally, as if giving up, he gently took out a thin wire from his pocket and inserted it into the keyhole skillfully. After a few seconds, the lock core made a slight "click" sound, and the door opened.
There was a foul smell coming from inside. Although it was covered up by a subtle fragrance, it was obvious that the people in this laboratory did not put much effort into this aspect.
The rooms were filled with the bodies of various girls, stacked randomly on top of each other. In the low temperatures of Siberia, they would not rot too quickly.
The young man continued to watch calmly, his eyes sweeping across the faces of the corpses, finally stopping at a corner and walking over.
The boy squatted down, pushed the bodies of the two girls apart, and pulled out the girl who was not yet dead.
"It hurts... it hurts..."
“…It will stop hurting immediately.”
The young man stroked the girl's chest with one hand, and under some force, the girl's faint moans slowly disappeared. She no longer felt the tearing pain inside her body. Instead, she felt a quiet warmth, like a ray of sunshine in winter, penetrating the cold haze.
The girl's frown gradually relaxed, her eyes lost focus, but the fear and pain on her face also dissipated. The boy's fingers gently brushed her forehead and closed her eyes, allowing her to feel a touch of tenderness in the last moment.
He is not omnipotent now. The girl's body has been damaged to the extent that it is difficult to heal.
Unless he was willing to use more power to [reshape] it...but in this way, the energy he had accumulated for so long would be wasted.
It's not cost-effective.
"……Feel sorry."
The young man stood up and prepared to leave, but found that the woman in the white coat who had appeared before was standing at the door, and next to her were four or five guards with guns.
The woman had an expected smile on her face. "Sure enough, I knew you would come out to look for the experimental subject, but unfortunately, she is not here... Oh, maybe this is good news for you. After all, there is nothing else that can be sent to this room except corpses, right?"
