Chapter 35 Donal’s joining

David didn't like drinking, that was his fault, but he still ordered a glass of whiskey.

After what happened at Six O'clock Cabin, Arthur got 500 knives. Even if he handed over half of it, he would still have more than 200 knives.

But David guessed that Arthur probably didn't turn it in.

The generous Arthur said that he would treat everyone today.

I took out $20 and drank one glass of whiskey after another.

Needless to say, Mike came to have a drink, and Lenny, who was frightened, also started drinking.

"Mr. Callander, Mr. Graf would like you to come over and have a chat with him."

The speaker was a police officer. David knew him and had attended his party. Of course, he was not wearing a police uniform now.

The Mr. Graf he was talking about was the deputy sheriff.

David glanced at Arthur, Lenny, and Mike who were all drunk, and nodded slightly.

Following the police officers, David left the pub through the back door.

Not long after, we arrived in front of a two-story house.

Seemingly seeing David coming, Deputy Sheriff Graf came out.

"Mr. Callander, I'm sorry to bother you. It's just that Donal requested me and he wants to meet you." Graf said a little embarrassed.

David frowned: "Donal, a member of the O'Drisco gang, a person who once threatened Mr. Carraway, Mr. Graf, do you know what you are talking about?"

"Or maybe there are countless members of the O'Drisco gang lurking in this house, trying to use this against me."

David had no intention of entering the house. Who knows if there was an ambush.

Deputy Sheriff Graf said: "Mr. Callander, Donal just came here alone. He wanted to talk to you about something."

David shook his head: "You can talk if you want, just let him come out and talk somewhere else."

Deputy Sheriff Graf nodded and entered the house, followed shortly by a person.

Unlike most gang members, Donal did not look vicious. Instead, he wore a suit and tie. Of course, anyone who could write a threatening letter would not be a good person.

"Mr. Callander, this is Mr. Donal."

After Deputy Sheriff Graf made a brief introduction, he turned around and said: "Mr. Donal, I have fulfilled your request. The next thing is between you."

It was obvious that Donal had some leverage from the deputy chief of police.

But David didn't care.

After finishing speaking, the deputy police chief nodded to David and left.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Callander, it was my negligence and some misunderstandings occurred."

"Now let's talk somewhere else, go to Mr. Callander's place." Donal said respectfully. He didn't expect David to be so cautious. This was not like a cowboy at all.

"No, just walk around."

"I'm a little curious. You should know that I am from the Van der Linde gang, and you are from the O'Drisco gang, but you want to come to meet me. Aren't you afraid that I will kill you directly?"

David said as he walked, Donal following him.

"Mr. Callander, although I am a member of the O'Drisco Gang, we are different from you."

"In the O'Drisco Gang, many people are actually just attached to Colm's name. We rely on the name of the gang to do things and pay some money. This will save a lot of trouble, but it does not mean that we must follow Colm. .”

David smiled: "So, Donal, do you want to join the Van der Linde gang?"

"No, Mr. Callander, I just want to cooperate with you." Donal paused and explained: "From Graf, I know that Mr. Callander is going to do the moonshining business, and I do it. It’s a pharmaceutical business, and it doesn’t conflict with Mr. Callander’s business.”

"As long as Mr. Callander is willing to let me continue the pharmaceutical business, I am willing to pay Mr. Callander $100 a month as protection fee."

David said: "So, you can give Graf 200 US dollars a month, but here I only have 100 US dollars, right, Mr. Donal."

Donal quickly explained: "Mr. Callander, that's not what I meant. In my previous business, the clinic's medical alcohol was a large part of my income. Although we are not in the private liquor business, we can sell it to those who do." People in the bootlegging business.”

"Now of course all the medical alcohol in the clinic has to be given to Mr. Callander, so our profits have suffered a lot. $100 is my greatest sincerity."

David nodded slightly. He had no doubts about Donal's words. Although he had just briefly looked through the account book before, he did see many accounts related to medical alcohol in it.

"What makes you think I will agree to cooperate with you?" David asked curiously.

Donal hesitated and said: "The light of civilization in the east is shining on the west, and barbaric ways will no longer be recognized."

"The Van der Linde gang and the O'Drisco gang have been at odds for a long time, but neither of them will do business."

"Although Mr. Callander was from the Van der Linde gang, he started a bootlegging business."
