Chapter 30 The serial killer must die
When they came to the messy backyard, Tim threw a shovel over and pointed at some areas with darker soil and overgrown weeds.
"Be careful and dig it out carefully."
Jack took the shovel and already had some guesses in his mind. After digging less than half a meter, he discovered something was wrong.
After carefully removing the surface soil, a highly decomposed corpse accompanied by a foul smell appeared in front of him.
"Fuck you bastard." Jack cursed in Chinese in a low voice and stopped what he was doing.
Tim also stopped and found a corpse in the ground he was digging. The difference was that the corpse had turned into white bones.
"Next is the work of the forensics department. There are at least four corpses buried here. It seems they will be very busy."
Jack couldn't see any expression on Tim's poker face, but his angry eyes couldn't be hidden from anyone.
"Jack, can I trust you?"
Before speaking, Tim reached out and turned off the law enforcement recorders on their chests.
Jack felt relieved. This was the world of American TV series he was familiar with. There was no such clear-cut black and white procedural justice.
"In fact, I asked you the same question just now."
"I don't like the cliche of letting him rot in jail. I just believe in God's judgment."
Tim seemed satisfied with Jack's answer and continued: "Then let us send him to see God. This bastard has tarnished Ma Run's reputation!"
Obviously, as a veteran of Ma Run, I have been deeply angered.
"Take John with you. This old rookie is not a pedantic saint. He just lacks an opportunity. I don't want to see him killed by his own kindness one day." Jack suggested.
Tim hesitated. "Does he know when to shut up? I'll have to work another fifteen years before I get my full pension."
"Why don't you go in and have a chat?" Jack shrugged, his action becoming more and more proficient.
The two walked into the house again and saw the other three people discussing around a photo in Hannah's hand.
Jack coughed slightly, attracting everyone's attention: "We found at least four unknown bodies buried in the backyard."
"Fake%@*&*" Angela, who had the hottest temper, burst out a series of slang and swear words.
Looking at the blank stares of the two rookies, Tim motioned for everyone to turn off the law enforcement recorders before explaining.
"This means that even if we catch that beast, the bastards from the District Attorney's Office will probably make a deal with him to avoid the death penalty in order to get him to reveal the identities of these dead people."
Jack noticed that John's eyes suddenly widened, as if he couldn't understand what Tim was talking about.
Well, in fact, he himself doesn't quite understand the bizarre accusation deal in the beautiful country.
Angela explained on the side: "Although California has not abolished the death penalty, the murderer of the [Green River Killer Case] used this method to avoid the death penalty."
"The notorious [cruel sleeper] Leming Franklin, although he was sentenced to death, was never executed and finally died in prison."
Tim seemed to think that everyone was not angry enough, so he added.
"There is also the popular Richard Reva Ramirez. He was sentenced to death in 1989 and lived in prison until 2013. During this period, some fans even married him."
Hannah threw the photo in her hand to Tim and was about to walk out without saying a word. She was grabbed by Jack, who was quick-sighted. Angela and Tim teamed up to test the attitudes of the two rookies, not to confront them. Hannah added fuel to the fire.
"So, we can only watch all this happen?" John looked like his outlook was shattered.
Tim nodded: "As long as that beast is smart enough, he won't give us the chance to kill him."
Hannah struggled a few times but couldn't break free. She gritted her teeth and said bitterly, "I will never let him put down his weapon."
Tim held the photo that Hannah threw over. It showed a small wooden house with a small hill in the background. He frowned and turned over, not seeing any clues, so he asked doubtfully.
"What did you just find?"
John is not an idiot, and he obviously understands what everyone is saying. Just as Jack expected, John is a good person, but he is not a bastard with trivial views.
He looked Tim in the eye: "This is the south side of Mount Baldwin, on the edge of Kenneth Hahn State Park."
Swallowing, he continued: "When I first arrived in Los Angeles, I went to visit the area here, uh, with Lucy. It was deserted and we suspected that the suspect might use it as a hiding place."
Angela confirmed on the side: "I have just checked through the command center and the suspect does have the property rights of a vacation cabin in his name."
Tim put away the photo and scanned the crowd again.
"The conversation just now didn't happen. Jack and Hannah came with me to take a look. You guys stayed behind to wait for the colleagues from the forensics department."
"Hey!" Angela protested with a look of displeasure: "Why did you leave me? I'm so untrustworthy in your eyes?"
"You'll be a detective soon, don't get yourself into trouble."
As he spoke, Tim stopped Lucy, who was also eager to try, with stern eyes, causing the latter to retreat angrily.
Gee, this is really the tenderness that belongs exclusively to Tim. Even when caring for his colleagues, he has to use the toughest attitude. Jack let go of Hannah, but out of the corner of his eye, he kept observing John, who was bowing his head in thought.
"Take me with you. I still have some impressions of the surrounding area. Besides, I know what I'm doing."
John stood up without hesitation.
"Then let's go."
While walking out of the suspect's residence, Tim used the walkie-talkie to report to the command center.
"7-A-21 police car, we are heading to Kenneth Hahn State Park to investigate the vacation cabin of suspect Angus Lucius, please mark."
"7-A-26 police car, we will go together, please mark."
30 minutes later, the two police cars arrived at their destination along the bumpy forest road.
Before getting off the car, Jack was a little worried about Hannah's state. If this girl's anger was rated on a scale of LV1-10, she would probably be at LV6 after asking Kara. It had been at LV10 just now after more victims were discovered. It's in full swing.
"Hannah, if you can't stabilize your emotions, I can only talk to Tim and leave you in the car."
Jack looked seriously at the pair of light blue eyes. If the anger inside could be turned into substance, he would probably have turned into a charred corpse by now.
He didn't want this little girl to have an accident because of her excessive emotions. After all, not everyone could be like him, and the more excited they were, the calmer their thinking would be.
Hannah sniffed, leaned her upper body over the seat, buried her head in Jack's arms, took a few deep breaths, then sat back down, and said angrily: "I'm fine, Tim won't let me do it anyway. Just keep an eye on him so nothing happens."
First of all, I would like to thank a book friend whose ID is "The Little Book Boy Who Doesn't Love Books" yesterday. He rewarded me with 1 points, which really scared me.
To be honest, I was extremely excited when I saw this reward tip. I was very excited in several Q groups that I often hang out in. This is the most direct affirmation of the quality of my works by book friends.
At the same time, I would also like to thank other friends who gave tips. There are too many IDs so I won’t type them out one by one. I haven’t found a way to copy these IDs yet. When I have time, I will open a separate chapter and type the IDs manually to thank you.
At the same time, I would also like to thank several of my friends in real life. Although they say they won’t click on the books written by their friends, they still recommend and vote for them every day, and even give them rewards when they have nothing to do. Thank you very much. You guys.
However, I would also like to say that everyone must live within their means, especially the student party members. Although I do want to make a living from this book and am writing it very seriously, most people probably have an average income level and are impulsive. Consumption is not advisable, except for rich people and wealthy women.
I hope that the friends who read my book are already or will soon become tycoons and rich women, and they can share some with me after spending a lot of money on mobile games and STEAM game libraries.
Thank you again for your love!
