The storm of electronic fraud, the day I was deceived into northern Myanmar

Relevant provisions of my country's Criminal Law, Article [-] "Crime of Fraud" Whoever defrauds public or private property, if the amount is relatively large, shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance, and shall also or solely be fined.

If the amount is huge or there are other serious circumstances, the sentence is to be not less than three years but not more than ten years of fixed-term imprisonment and a fine.

If the amount is particularly huge or there are other particularly serious circumstances, the sentence is to be fixed-term imprisonment of not less than ten years or life imprisonment and concurrently to a fine or confiscation of property.

Initially, I was sentenced to ten years, and because of good behavior, I stayed in prison for eight years.

Now I tell my story to let more people know about northern Myanmar and not to go there easily, let alone believe in any "pie in the sky" things...

I am one of the earlier batch of people who were deceived into going to northern Myanmar.

Almost witnessed the "industry history" of the entire northern Myanmar.

First: I hope that those who want to go to northern Myanmar to make a fortune will not have any illusions.

You can't get around in the Pearl River Delta, so you still want to get around in the Golden Triangle?

Don't think how awesome you are. There are many people in northern Myanmar who are better than you and more ruthless than you, but in the end they all don't end well.

Second: I hope someone will take some precautions after reading what I wrote and avoid unnecessary tragedies.

There is a saying in northern Myanmar: It’s not that you can’t be deceived, but that you are not worth being deceived.

Many people think that they are smart and will not be cheated.

What I want to say is, first look at how much money you have in your own pocket and whether it is worth it.

There are masters in northern Myanmar who specialize in designing scams. They specialize in writing "scripts".

There are "universal scripts" and "customized scripts".

The so-called universal script is to target a certain group of people and cast a wide net.

And customized scripts are tailor-made for a specific person.

The routines and deceptions involved are completely impossible to detect.

Take an example I saw with my own eyes before. The person I wanted to deceive was a domestic Internet celebrity.

In order to customize a script for her, hackers first stole all her personal information, including her preferences, the number of people in her family, and her savings.

Then use these details of hers to design a perfect scam for her.

The steps and personnel arrangements are simply beyond your imagination.

Even her golden retriever dog is part of the script.

Therefore, I want to say that no matter what happens in the future, you must be careful.

It’s not that you are smart, it’s just that the scammers haven’t targeted you yet.

Closer to home, let me talk about my trip to northern Myanmar.

That year, I was in my sophomore year of college, but I dropped out of school early because I was addicted to online games.

Since then, I have been hanging out in Internet cafes.

In order to have free access to the Internet, I worked as a network administrator at the Internet cafe in front of our school.

At that time, my monthly salary was 1200, including food and accommodation.

Twenty-four hours a day, I am in the Internet cafe.

The salary paid every month is basically spent on the game.

It was at that time that I met someone.

I don’t know what that man’s real name is, but I just call him Lao Zhang.

Lao Zhang is a frequent visitor to our Internet cafe, almost every day.

Moreover, he would always sit in the private room when he came to the Internet cafe, so I became familiar with him after going back and forth.

I remember one night when I was working the night shift, he asked me to make bucket noodles for him and deliver them to him.

As a result, when I went over, I saw him gambling money on a website.

It's the kind of gambling website where a beautiful dealer deals cards online.

It was the first time I saw this kind of thing, so I was very curious and stood in the box watching him play.

Seeing that I was interested in it, he asked me if I wanted to send him the website address.

I asked him: "Can you get back the money you win on this?"

He patted his chest and said to me, "Of course you can bring it up. I've mentioned it several times."

Seeing him say this, I asked him for the website out of curiosity.

As a result, from that day on, I became addicted to online gambling.

I invested [-] yuan in the beginning, played for several days, and won almost [-] yuan.

At that time, I was walking unsteadily, couldn't go to work well, and even talked back to my boss.

Later, I got into an argument with my boss because I charged the wrong card.

Just like that, I quit my job.

I started gambling online with Lao Zhang, and gradually I fell into it and lost [-] to [-] yuan.

Originally, I didn't have that much money to lose. My parents are both farmers, and my family didn't have much money.

It was Lao Zhang who took me to borrow online loans to demolish the east wall to pay for the west wall.

It was also at that time that I learned that Lao Zhang was a "loan master". He had several credit cards going back and forth, and he dared to borrow any online loan.

For example, he would still borrow money from online loans with very high interest rates.

In his words: "As long as you dare to lend me money, I will ask for it."

He never thought about paying off his debts.

In this way, I followed him for more than half a year, gambling online or "running scores" every day.

The so-called "running score" is to use its own collection channels to help black and gray industries transfer funds, which is what we commonly call "money laundering".

Many people will sell their bank cards to others. These bank cards are empty, and some money from unknown sources will be transferred using this bank card.

For example, if you want to launder one million black gold, you will first disperse the money and transfer it to many "running score" bank cards.

Then, once the money arrives, someone will take it all out.

The person who withdraws money is also called a "withdrawal boy".

Each cashier has many bank cards with benchmark scores. After receiving the above message, they will immediately withdraw the money in the card through the ATM.

Eventually, hand over the money and get some of the withdrawal fees.

In the past, this kind of cash withdrawal and running score was more popular, but it is no longer possible because the country implemented the "Card Cutoff Action" in order to prevent more people from being harmed.

In addition to "running scores", we were also responsible for recruiting people to the gambling platform at that time.

As long as we attract people to gamble on the platform, we will have "betrayal".

In this way, my gambling addiction got worse and worse, and eventually I was so desperate that I even sold my ID card.

Several times at that time, I stood on the rooftop and wanted to jump down.

I don’t know why I’ve come to this point. When I think about what happened over the past six months, I can’t help but want to slap myself.

It was at this time that Lao Zhang said he found a way for me.

He said that he had a cousin who opened a restaurant in Myanmar and asked me if I would like to work there for [-] yuan a month, mainly responsible for delivering food.

I didn't really want to go at first, but he said to me: "Yang Lei, if you owe so much money now, the lenders will definitely come to you and cause trouble. Just treat it as going abroad for a while, and then go back to work there." , save some money, come back and start again.”

As soon as I heard this, my heart began to waver.

At that time, the debt collectors called me every day and threatened me every day. They even said they were going to mess with my family.

I was already exhausted from the debt collection calls and finally decided to go to Myanmar.

But no one expected that they would experience so many things during this trip, and even almost lose their lives there...
