At the age of 20, he joined Premier Sun's guard.

Having been with Mr. Sun for many years, I had the opportunity to listen to Mr. Sun’s revolutionary principles in person. General Wei was deeply influenced by Mr. Sun and further deepened his understanding of the revolution.

He worked hard and had outstanding abilities, and was soon promoted to the platoon leader of the guard regiment.

The next year, during a night battle, the team was broken up.

General Wei gathered his remaining troops and attacked the enemy's headquarters, turning defeat into victory.

As a result, he was promoted to company commander and soon to battalion commander due to his military exploits.

During the Eastern Expedition to counter the rebellion, he was brave and courageous and took the lead. He was first promoted to commander of the regiment and then commander of the supplementary brigade.

In 1925, his troops were reorganized by Jiang Wufa, General Wei's brigade was reduced to a regiment, and General Wei was appointed as the regiment commander. At that time, he had the rank of major general.

In July of the following year, the Northern Expedition began. General Wei's troops were first organized into a general reserve force and stayed at home to look after the family. In October, he was transferred to Fujian to fight.

In 1928, General Wei went to the first batch of the special class for general officers of Peiping Army University to study.

In early 1930, he was ordered to form the 45th Division in Bengbu and served as the division commander.

By September 1936, he was promoted to Army General.

In the winter of 1936, Jiang Wufa flew to Xi'an twice, stating that he would not eliminate our troops and would never resist the Japanese.

General Wei was appointed commander-in-chief of the Fifth Route Army and stationed in Tongguan.

General Wei began to realize that resisting the Japanese and saving the country was the common demand of the people of the country. Failure to resist the Japanese would lead to rebellion and alienation, and the civil war could no longer continue.

In order to promote unity in the fight against Japan, we put national justice first, regardless of past grievances, and advocated a peaceful settlement of the incident. General Wei was also greatly touched.

After the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, General Wei ordered his subordinates to make efforts to contact our side who persisted in the Dabie Mountains.

After the Japanese invaded Peiping, General Wei actively resisted the Japanese and commanded the Battle of Xinkou.

During this period, the Eighth Route Army, which crossed the Yellow River eastward and headed for the anti-Japanese front line, achieved a great victory at Pingxingguan.

And launched a heroic guerrilla war north of Xinkou, constantly attacking the Japanese, destroying the Japanese transportation and supply lines, and giving great encouragement and support to General Wei's headquarters.

The Battle of Xinkou was a large-scale battle that was completed in unity and cooperation with our side. It can be called a model of cooperation in the fight against Japan!

After the fall of Taiyuan, General Wei led his troops to stay in the Jiexiu and Xiaoyi areas and continued to fight against the Japanese marching south.

He admired the Eighth Route Army's heroic resistance to the Japanese and worked closely with him in combat deployment and tactical coordination.

In March 1938, General Wei led his troops east to Zhongtiao Mountain and was attacked by Japs in Daning. The situation was critical and he sent a report to our army for help.

After receiving the urgent call from General Wei, the commander-in-chief of our army immediately sent troops to rush for reinforcements.

At this time, the Japanese troops stationed in Shilou came again, and a section of the Eighth Route Army rushed to Baierling to stop the attack bravely, protecting General Wei's troops from danger. General Wei was deeply moved by this.

Later generations will call this battle the "Battle of the Covering Guard General".

In April 1938, General Wei visited Yanzhou and was warmly received by our top leadership.

During this period, we learned that our army was extremely short of ammunition supplies.

Shortly after returning to Xi'an, General Wei urged his subordinates to provide sufficient weapons and equipment to the Eighth Route Army on time to avoid friction between his headquarters and the Eighth Route Army.

For the Eighth Route Army to establish base areas behind enemy lines and expand guerrilla warfare, Weidu believed that it was an actual need to fight against Japan.

He issued a decree instructing the Xi'an office to allocate 100 million rounds of bullets, 25 grenades and 180 boxes of canned beef to our army.

Although the officials in charge of this matter are in a dilemma, because our army belongs to the second theater sequence, the military pay and materials should be responsible for it. Moreover, this move was not in line with Jiang Wufa's intention.

But in the end, under the pressure of General Wei, the ordnance materials were allocated in full.

When Jiang Wufa found out about this, he scolded General Wei severely and removed his military chief.

Let him go to the Xi'an General Office as a small director without military power.

But when he took office, local people gathered at the station to see him off.

This was undoubtedly a slap in the face to Jiang Wufa. General Wei was also moved.

In 1939, General Wei's third wife died in an accident during a minor operation.

Later, Jiang Wufa instigated his men to create friction and discredit our army.

General Wei believed that this was not in line with the policy of cooperation, unity and anti-Japanese aggression, so he perfunctoryly and boycotted it. Moreover, after his jurisdiction or his subordinates had conflicts with us, he was dismissed from their posts and investigated.

Not only that, General Wei also paid us military pay as usual despite Jiang Wufa's ban in 1940, when relations between the two sides were tense.

Precisely because of General Wei's close contacts with our side, factions within Jiang Wufa's side were vying for power. General Wei was accused by generals and officials of Jiang Wufa's side in successive years during his term as commander of the First Theater Command and Chairman of Henan Province.
