The Divine Eye for Appreciating Treasures: Starting from Escape from Northern Myanmar
Chapter 1203 How do you know I believe in Buddhism?
At noon, the fairy brought the two back. The three of them slept until they woke up naturally and now came here to have lunch. Lunch was ready.
But Zhang Fan was gone, as he had other things to deal with. Cao Jianjia was slightly relieved at this time. Otherwise, she would have been worried that the man would pounce on her at any time. There would be no woman who was not afraid of him.
From last night till this morning, I feel like I’m not walking naturally.
I'm just enduring it now.
No one knows what Zhang Fan is doing.
He came to Beijing for a purpose, and it shouldn't be as simple as meeting the old man.
Zhang Fan stood downstairs of an iconic commercial building in the bustling city of Shangjing. The afternoon sun shone through the sparse clouds, dappled on his shoulders, adding a touch of warmth to his slightly tired figure.
From time to time, he looked up at the entrance of the building, with anticipation and a hint of nervousness in his eyes.
There are passers-by hurrying around, each with his or her own story.
Time passed minute by minute until a figure slowly appeared behind the revolving door of the building. It was an urban beauty dressed in fashionable clothes, Huang Hui.
She was not as dazzling as imagined, but the confidence and competence that radiated from the inside out made her stand out in the crowd.
Her ordinary facial features appear more vivid under the exquisite makeup, and the carefully matched clothes show her unique insights into fashion to the fullest.
When Huang Hui's eyes met Zhang Fan's, a look of surprise flashed across her face, and then turned into a gentle smile.
"Zhang Fan? Why are you here?" There was a hint of surprise and confusion in her voice, as if at this moment, the time distance between the two of them was instantly shortened.
Zhang Fan came forward with a gentle smile on his face and a different look in his eyes. "Long time no see, Huang Hui. I did come to see you on purpose to talk to you about something." His words were simple and direct, but they were enough to make Huang Hui feel that the purpose of his visit was not random.
Huang Hui nodded slightly when she heard this, with a hint of curiosity and warmth in her eyes. "Well, since you are here, let's find a place to have a good chat. Let's go, I know a very good restaurant nearby, we can eat and talk at the same time."
Having said that, Huang Hui turned around naturally and walked towards the restaurant not far away.
Huang Hui led Zhang Fan through the bustling streets and into a quiet alley, as if they had traveled through a tunnel of time and space and arrived in a completely different world.
At the end of the alley, an ancient and solemn Buddhist temple stands quietly, and its red walls and black tiles appear particularly peaceful in the afterglow of the setting sun.
In front of the temple, there are several towering ancient trees. Occasionally, the distant chirping of birds can be heard among the branches and leaves, adding a bit of Zen.
As Huang Hui pushed open the side door of the temple with ease, a faint scent of sandalwood wafted into Zhang Fan's nose, instantly washing away the dust in Zhang Fan's heart.
Inside the gate is a courtyard with a unique world. On both sides of the bluestone path are carefully trimmed bushes and several small rockery. Water flows out from the rockery and merges into a small pond with clear water. Several koi fish swim leisurely in the pond, as if even they are immersed in this tranquility.
Huang Hui led Zhang Fan through the courtyard and came to a restaurant called "Chan Yue Zhai".
This place is different from any other restaurant in the outside world. There are no gorgeous decorations, only simple wooden tables and chairs and a few elegant Buddhist murals. The air is filled with the richer aroma of sandalwood and the unique fragrance of food, which makes people slow down their pace involuntarily and calm their minds.
"Over the years, I have increasingly felt that inner peace is more important than anything else." Huang Hui said softly as she pulled out a chair for Zhang Fan. "So, I began to learn Buddhism, and learned how to let go of obsessions and how to look at the world with a compassionate heart. Gradually, I found myself falling in love with vegetarianism, which made me feel an unprecedented purity and harmony."
With the arrival of the waiter, plates of exquisite vegetarian food were brought to the table one by one.
The first dish that catches your eye is "Luohan Vegetarian Food", in which colorful vegetables are cleverly matched together. It is not only delicious, but also contains rich nutrition and Buddhist philosophy.
Every bite is a gentle soothing to the taste buds and a profound baptism to the soul.
Next was the “Three Fresh Vegetarian Dishes”. The seafood simulated with soy products tasted so delicious that one almost forgot that it was a vegetarian dish and instead admired the chef’s superb skills.
While tasting the food, Huang Hui told Zhang Fan about her spiritual journey of believing in Buddhism.
She said that at first she was only attracted by the profoundness of Buddhism, but as time went by, she gradually realized the nourishment and healing effect of Buddhism on the soul.
So I started to participate in the temple’s meditation activities, learned how to meditate, chant scriptures, and even began to try a vegetarian lifestyle.
In this process, I learned how to get along with myself better and how to face the challenges in life with a peaceful mind.
"In fact, vegetarianism is not just a dietary habit, but also a life attitude." Huang Hui said with a smile, "It makes me pay more attention to my physical and mental health, and makes me cherish everything that nature has given us. I hope that one day you can also feel this inner peace and joy."
Zhang Fan listened quietly to Huang Hui's story, his eyes occasionally falling on her pair of tender eyes.
The sound of the temple bells rings melodiously, giving me a feeling of spiritual cleansing.
This time I came to see Huang Hui, I didn't do it to listen to her stories about Buddhism.
Nor was I about listening to her talk about her feelings after she converted to Buddhism.
If you go find her, you must verify some things.
"How long has it been since you last saw Xiao Luo?"
Zhang Fan went straight to the point.
"She's been dead for many years, don't you know?"
Huang Hui was very surprised.
Zhang Fan smiled. The last time he came, he got the news from a good friend, and then he found her grave, which contained her bones.
Theoretically she was dead, indeed she was dead, but her death was very strange.
"Oh? How did he die?"
Zhang Fan smiled and asked.
There's something wrong with that smile.
"If you are sick, you can't be resurrected. You should stop worrying about it and start your new life well."
Huang Hui comforted.
"Do you think I came to you with nothing?"
Zhang Fan smiled.
A strange look flashed in Huang Hui's eyes.
But recovered quickly.
"what have you found?"
Huang Hui pretended not to understand.
Nothing is exposed at all.
Zhang Fan looked at Huang Hui: "I know why you believe in Buddhism."
This very affirmative sentence made Huang Hui hold a cup of tea, as if she wanted to use the tea to cover up her embarrassment.
