I, Hogwarts Week Two
Chapter 573 The Deathly Hallows
Harry's voice echoed in the empty room, sounding particularly clear and powerful.
But before he could continue, he was interrupted by a sudden, heart-pounding crash.
Someone was banging on the door.
Ginny shuddered violently, and the uneasiness in her heart grew rapidly. She immediately realized that the noise outside must be the group of mysterious people she saw, most likely Death Eaters.
They were surrounded.
"Harry." Ginny called with a hint of trembling in her voice.
The next moment, a dazzling fluorescent light streaked across the night sky like a meteor, suddenly illuminating the entire room. Its speed was so fast that it was jaw-dropping. Harry instinctively raised his wand and prepared to fight.
But as he stretched out his wand and raised it high, he noticed that the spell was not directed at him.
Instead, it drove towards the gate.
"Boom!" With a deafening explosion, the gate turned into ruins.
The impatient Death Eaters outside finally rushed in.
Unfortunately, before they could feel happy at all, they were knocked away by the fluorescent spell.
"What's going on?" Ginny stared blankly at the ruined door, not understanding why the Death Eater pretending to be Bathilda would attack his own people. Could it be that the spell went wrong?
"Get out of the way—" A quick and firm male voice suddenly sounded in Harry's ears.
Then, he felt an invisible force surrounding him, and his body was involuntarily pulled by this force, as if swept by a strong wind, and was instantly pushed into the room behind him. The door slammed shut behind him, isolating all the noise, leaving only his rapid breathing and heartbeat echoing in the small space.
The battle outside broke out instantly, as fierce as a storm. Countless spells intertwined and collided in the air, bursting into dazzling light, accompanied by deafening explosions and the crisp sound of shattering glass.
Occasionally there were a few screams of pain, which made people shudder.
"Harry, let's get out of here quickly." Ginny said anxiously in the room.
"Wait—I think something is wrong."
Harry refused.
He instinctively felt that Bathilda was helping him.
But he is not stupid. Hiding at this time is definitely the best option.
In the living room, the battle was still going on. Harry could vaguely see the scene outside through the crack in the door, and a large number of spells were flying, filling the entire space.
Obviously, the fake Bathilda didn't have a wand in her hand, but she was able to suppress four or five black-robed wizards by casting spells without a wand.
Harry looked around carefully and found that they were all dark wizards he didn't know.
Their fighting style is similar to that of Death Eaters, and their bodies must have undergone some changes, so ordinary spells have no effect on them.
"Who are you?" A dark wizard narrowly dodged a spell and waved his robe to dispel the transformed sword that was slashing towards him.
Then he raised his head and stared at Bathilda with a sinister look on his face.
She was a very ugly witch. She looked a bit like Umbridge, but uglier. Against the backdrop of her black robe, she looked like a giant toad eating.
"Idiot, can't you guess who he is by now?" her partner yelled, then cast a green spell.
Bathilda dodged and retaliated with a freezing spell.
The man was caught off guard and felt his body stagnate. Then a chill suddenly swept through his body.
"He is Grindelwald!" The other black-robed wizards have already seen the true identity of Bathilda in front of them.
"Who else has such strength except him?"
"Haha! That's a big fish! The Dark Lord has been looking for him!" The witch laughed and dodged a flying curse. "Don't fight with me for it, he's mine!!!"
Bathilda smiled coldly, raised her palm and pushed it forward suddenly, and then a bolt of lightning appeared out of nowhere. The crazy witch was unable to dodge and was blown away, screaming continuously. Other dark wizards were also hit by the continuity of lightning and were injured.
The extremely high temperature burned their bodies, and suddenly the air was filled with the smell of burning flesh.
At this time, Harry, who was hiding in the room, reacted immediately after hearing Grindelwald's name.
The real Bathilda should have been moved away by Grindelwald long ago.
He was pretending to be Bathilda now, and he was waiting here deliberately for the Death Eaters to come to him.
After understanding the reason, Harry immediately jumped out of the room, raised his wand, and shot several restraining spells at the injured black-robed wizards.
After the battle at King's Cross Station, he knew very well that these Death Eaters could no longer be considered human beings. They were a group of monsters, and some spells that were useful to humans were completely useless to them.
Harry had no idea which spells would work and which wouldn't.
Just use the restrictive spell.
No matter what it is, a restraining spell will always be useful.
"Multiple Freeze!"
Ginny also rushed out. She waved her wand and countless ice crystals shot out in an instant. The entire living room and even the door were frozen in a few breaths.
"Well done!" Harry shouted excitedly, and then added a few more spells.
On the other side, Grindelwald, disguised as Bathilda, took the opportunity to retrieve his wand.
Although as a legendary wizard he is already very skilled in wandless spellcasting.
But some powerful spells are more smoothly cast with a wand.
A moment later a ball of blue flame emerged from under his feet.
Then it quickly spread to the surrounding areas.
The flames burned more and more fiercely, but miraculously, they had no effect on the building or Harry and the others. The flames passed over them like the wind.
The Death Eaters screamed in the flames. The flames caused terrible damage to them. They were burned to ashes in just a few breaths.
"Huh..." Harry let out a long sigh of relief.
Fortunately, it was just a group of Death Eaters and not Voldemort himself, otherwise their situation would be quite troublesome.
On the other side, Bathilda's body began to grow taller suddenly, hair began to grow on her dry head, and her clothes were also rapidly deforming.
In a short while, she completed the transformation from Bathilda to Grindelwald.
"Which Potter are you?"
Grindelwald turned and looked at Harry.
He said as he cast a spell to repair the room.
"Oh! Yes." Harry nodded. Only then did he remember that he was still a Muggle.
No wonder Grindelwald didn't reveal his identity to them right away.
Harry carefully looked at the wizard in front of him.
Compared to the last time they met, Grindelwald seemed to be ten years older.
Owen said that his grandfather seemed to have become younger because he defeated part of the essence of an Outer God in a certain divine tower and was infected with some ancient magic.
He looked to be about 40 or 50 years old.
Now he is in his sixties or seventies. His face is pale, his features are tired, and his eyes are not as sharp as before.
Even though his clothes and appearance were the same as before, one could notice the change in him at a glance.
"You two are very brave to come here," Grindelwald said calmly.
The broken room was repaired in a few breaths, and everything returned to the time a few minutes ago, as if the battle had never happened.
"I came to see my parents," Harry said sincerely.
He knew exactly what had caused Grindelwald to change so drastically.
There is nothing more painful than killing your loved one with your own hands. Even if the other party begs you, even if the other party falls into the wolf's mouth, he will immediately become a monster.
Pain is pain and it doesn't change based on what caused it.
"Yes, you need to meet your parents." Grindelwald opened his heterochromatic eyes and looked at Harry meaningfully.
"Should we still stay here? Will those Death Eaters get reinforcements?" Ginny suddenly interrupted, looking worried.
"Don't worry." Grindelwald waved his staff and a ball of flame ignited the fireplace, and then all the candles in the room were lit.
"They won't be here for a while. Besides - this house is under a powerful protective spell. You must have attracted their attention when you came in just now. Those people have been wandering around the village for seven or eight days."
"Why are you here?" Harry walked over.
Grindelwald motioned for the two of them to sit down.
"Just wait and see," he said. "I know the Death Eaters will come to Godric's Hollow to look for my great aunt. And I need some tongues. I want to know what the monster is going to do."
"In that room—"
"Death Eaters too."
"Oh my God!" Ginny exclaimed.
Harry seemed calmer.
"By the way, how did you find us? We were wearing invisibility cloaks."
"Footprints, kid!" Grindelwald shook his head. "Footprints don't appear out of nowhere on the snow. And they appear in front of the Potter family's ancestral home."
"Uh--" Harry was a little embarrassed. This was their negligence.
There was nothing he could do about it. Every time he put on the invisibility cloak, he would subconsciously think that he had completely disappeared. He would not consider it in such detail.
"Oh, by the way, you just said that you have been collecting intelligence. Can you tell me what the mysterious man is doing now?" Harry quickly changed the subject.
Grindelwald glanced at him and said, "He was searching for Gregorovitch all over Europe some time ago."
"Gregorovitch?" Harry was startled. He had heard the name before.
He had briefly accessed Voldemort's mind before and heard the name.
He had asked Hermione and learned that Gregorovitch was the master wandmaker of Europe.
But why did Voldemort look for a wand maker?
"Why did he seek a staff-maker?"
"For the Deathly Hallows," Grindelwald said bluntly.
"Deathly Hallows?" Another familiar term.
Harry had heard of the Deathly Hallows; Hermione had told him.
She said that Voldemort might look for the Elder Wand among the Deathly Hallows because their wands were connected together during several duels with her. In order to get out of this situation, Voldemort would definitely look for the most powerful wand.
Hermione suggested that they could actually go look for it so that they could plan ahead, but this suggestion was rejected by Owen.
Not to mention that the Order of the Phoenix would never allow them to run around Europe, the most important thing is that someone has already made plans regarding the Elder Wand.
That's what Owen told him.
"No wonder he captured Gregorovitch and Ollivander," said Harry.
As the most famous wand-makers in Europe, these two men are naturally the wizards most likely to know where the Elder Wand is.
"Yeah." Grindelwald responded nonchalantly. Then he said, "You two can stay here for a few days, but not too long. Leave here as soon as possible. If that monster comes looking for you, I won't have the energy to protect you."
"We're leaving tomorrow," Ginny said immediately upon hearing this.
There was no point for them to stay in Godric's Hollow anymore. Staying here would only increase the danger, so they naturally had to leave as soon as possible.
"I want to stay a few more days." Harry said suddenly.
He wanted to learn a few moves from Grindelwald.
The day of the decisive battle is getting closer and closer, and it would be a good thing if he could learn even one more useful spell.
And maybe guilt—maybe pity.
Maybe it's empathy.
He was also imprisoned in a small stairwell and spent many years in darkness.
Harry wondered how long Grindelwald had been hiding here.
But those days are definitely not pleasant.
After hearing what Harry said, Grindelwald neither refused nor agreed.
It was getting late today and they had to spend the night after all.
Standing up, he left the living room and headed to the small room where the Death Eaters were imprisoned.
He wanted to check whether the spell cast on those people had loosened.
Taking this opportunity, Harry quickly discussed something with Ginny.
Although Ginny was very reluctant to stay here, after Harry mentioned the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, the soft-hearted girl finally agreed to stay for a few more days.
In the evening, Ginny went to prepare dinner.
It wasn't really cooking, I was just heating up some food I brought with me.
The living room was sparsely lit.
Grindelwald did not eat with them. He stayed in the study on the second floor.
Ginny made a separate copy and asked Harry to deliver it.
When he walked into the study.
I saw Grindelwald sitting on a chair by the window.
Staring out the window like a statue.
He put the food on the table next to his chair without saying a word.
As he turned to leave, the bookcase on the wall caught Harry's attention.
There was not a single book on the old-fashioned bookcase; those precious magic books might have been taken away by the real Bathilda.
There are no books, but there are many photos on the cabinet.
The candlelight flickered, reflecting on the gray walls and bookcases, and he saw something moving faintly in the photo.
As he walked in, he saw two young men arm in arm in a silver frame.
One has blonde hair and the other has red hair.
Both of them were smiling at him.
In a trance, Harry seemed to smell the fragrance of the free grass from the wilderness. The mountain breeze brought a hint of coolness and unruliness, gently brushing every corner of the study, as if even time was gently pulled back to that distant summer afternoon by this force.
There, the sky was unusually blue, with a few white clouds wandering leisurely, and the sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting mottled shadows.
The singing of birds, the sound of gurgling brooks, dancing with the wind, singing with the grass.
What is more precious than all these, the one who can make all worries disappear and leave only freedom and joy, is the person standing next to you.
