Hogwarts: I'm a model wizard
Chapter 941 Mad-Eye's New Home
After walking out of the auditorium, Kyle did not go anywhere else, but went straight back to his wooden house next to the Forbidden Forest.
After a whole night of fighting, Kyle hadn't even had an hour's rest yet, and he was already extremely sleepy after running around from early morning to evening for various trivial matters.
After returning to the cabin, he lay down on the bed and fell into a deep sleep without even changing his clothes.
But there are also people who don't want Kyle to sleep, such as those wizards who are good at scheming.
These people have different identities and they have all kinds of professions. They were not seen when Hogwarts was fighting the Death Eaters before, but now that the war is won, they have appeared one by one, walking in the castle, and attentively asking about the well-being of those who were injured in the war.
As the main force fighting Voldemort alone, Kyle naturally became their target, but Kyle had always had things to do before, and they could not find a chance to be alone together.
But now everyone is gradually becoming idle.
So these people found the cabin with all kinds of unspeakable purposes, wanting to get to know Kyle as soon as possible.
But most of them were blocked by the alchemical mist carved on the door.
But there are also those who have made it through.
They were so happy when they saw the others who were just spinning in circles.
But before he could feel proud for long, a pair of purple eyes lit up in the dark wooden house.
Then they turned around stiffly and joined the group that was spinning in circles, and were driven away along with the others by Hagrid who had heard the noise.
……
When Kyle woke up, it was almost noon the next day.
When he walked out of the cabin, the first thing he saw was Hagrid, who was busy in the pumpkin patch.
The Death Eaters had destroyed his pumpkin patch completely, and he had planted the new seeds just last night.
There was another person next to the pumpkin patch, chattering about something.
He was a very strange wizard, and from Hagrid's impatient expression it was not difficult to tell that he was not very welcome.
But before Kyle could say anything, the other party noticed him first... or rather, when that person was talking to Hagrid, his peripheral vision was always looking at the other wooden house.
"Oh, isn't this Kyle?"
He came over cheerfully, with a warm smile on his face.
Somehow, Kyle suddenly thought of a former Defense Against the Dark Arts professor... Gilderoy Lockhart. He was the same, and seemed to always have a standard smile with teeth showing on his face.
But the difference is that Gilderoy Lockhart's smile looks more natural than the man in front of him.
"Look at you, don't you recognize me?" The man seemed to see Kyle's confusion and said in a familiar tone:
"Chris and I are old friends. Fudge told us a lot about you. Everyone envied him for finding such an excellent minister to help him."
Kyle raised an eyebrow.
It was confirmed that the other party was from the Ministry of Magic, but it was not clear which department they were from.
But he was too fake, and Kyle didn't think Chris would be friends with such a fake person.
"I……"
"Oh!"
Kyle just opened his mouth, but before he could finish his words, he saw the man suddenly jump up with a scream, as if his foot was stepped on by a three-headed dog.
His shout was so loud that even Hagrid in the distance looked over here.
Kyle was even more frightened by this sudden scene. The scene of facing Voldemort last night flashed through his mind involuntarily, and he instinctively took out his wand.
"Bang!" There was a muffled sound.
A man fell backwards at a high speed and crashed into the pumpkin field from mid-air.
"My mixed fertilizer!" Hagrid's trembling voice was full of heartache, "You bastard, I finally got this good stuff from Pomona, and you wasted it all in just one bucket!"
Hagrid was bent over, busy cleaning up, but because the distance was a bit far, Kyle couldn't see clearly what he was busy with.
However, from the few words just now, he could guess something.
"Sorry, sorry..." Kyle said in his heart, not sure whether he was speaking to Hagrid or to the strange wizard who was knocked away by him.
"Oh, useless idiot!" A cold snort came from behind, "The Ministry of Magic is full of such rubbish, no wonder half of them were easily replaced by the Death Eaters."
The voice is familiar.
Kyle turned around and shouted in surprise, "Mad-Eye...you're still alive!"
Now, he finally understood why the man suddenly screamed.
Since he was from the Ministry of Magic, he must have known Alastor Moody, but as far as everyone knew, this famous and legendary Auror had already died, and he might even have attended his funeral.
It is not surprising that people would be frightened when they see a dead person suddenly appear in front of them. Those with weaker mental endurance may even faint on the spot.
But his action frightened Kyle again, and he was blasted away by an instinctive spell.
But in a sense, he was lucky, because he had just woken up, and Kyle randomly chose the least lethal repulsive spell among the most familiar spells.
If his luck was worse, he might be faced with several more powerful spells.
"Long time no see, Kyle." Alastor Moody tapped his magic eye with his hand and asked, "Who told you I was dead?"
"No one said anything." Kyle shrugged, "But someone saw the dead wandering wizard leader, the man you pretended to be... What was his name, Lex?"
"It's Lanis." Moody corrected him, "You didn't even remember your opponent's name. You're acting very unprofessional right now."
"It doesn't matter." Kyle waved his hand. "Anyway, I'm just an ordinary ancient rune professor, not an Auror. Why should I remember the names of all my opponents? Besides, he's already dead."
Kyle suddenly sighed, "When I first heard the news, I thought it was you, but I didn't see you, and I didn't find you. I think you must have been taken away by the Ministry of Magic along with those dead Death Eaters."
"That was certainly not me, but the real Lanis." Moody said calmly: "Lanis encouraged the wandering wizards to betray the Death Eaters and dealt them a fatal blow from behind. It is reasonable for him to be retaliated against."
"Oh my God!"
At this moment, Kyle suddenly felt the ground shake.
Hagrid ran over from the pumpkin patch with a wooden spoon in his hand. A pungent smell could be smelled from a long distance away.
"Is it Mad-Eye?"
"Merlin's beard, is this true? They all said you were dead!"
"Hello, Rubeur," said Moody. "Of course it's true."
He did not hide his intentions, and with just a few words he convinced Hagrid that he had deliberately released the news of his own death in order to carry out Dumbledore's secret mission.
"Don't tell anyone else." Moody warned: "My mission is not over yet."
"Don't worry." Hagrid patted his chest vigorously, "I'm very tight-lipped. I won't tell anyone."
Kyle looked at Hagrid hesitantly and sighed slightly.
Well... Harry and the others probably aren't interested in wandering wizards and Moody. If no one asks specifically, Hagrid doesn't seem to be likely to reveal secrets... maybe.
After a brief greeting, Hagrid decided to cover for Moody outside, while he followed Kyle into the cabin and continued the unfinished topic.
"You killed Lanis, didn't you?" Kyle asked.
"That's right." Moody said, "If someone investigates carefully, they will find that Lannis has done a lot of unreasonable things recently, and in order to betray the Death Eaters, he promised too many things to his subordinates, many of which are simply impossible to accomplish...so he was killed by the Death Eaters."
"Really Death Eaters?"
"Really."
"What about the remaining wandering wizards?"
"Some died, but not too many." Moody sighed, "I wanted to try to let them die together with the Death Eaters, but I overestimated Lannis' influence.
"Moreover, wandering wizards are fundamentally different from Death Eaters. They have no beliefs and are only loyal to Galleons."
"Lanis could use false promises to lure them into betraying the Death Eaters, but he couldn't keep them going crazy. After realizing the danger, they chose to escape immediately."
"I only had time to send the Death Eaters' attack route away before the battle, and took advantage of the chaos to eliminate some Death Eaters who wanted to attack the castle from the Forbidden Forest."
"Isn't that enough?" Kyle looked at him.
Although wandering wizards are not high-end combat forces, they are better than most of the Death Eaters who serve as cannon fodder. Those who can be grouped with them are more or less capable.
If these people were allowed to charge into the castle, there would be more casualties.
It is quite remarkable that Alastor Moody could achieve this level by himself.
"I just think I can do better." Moody clicked his magic eye again.
Kyle then noticed his actions and asked in confusion: "Wait, this thing was not put in the grave... Oh, you didn't dig it out."
"Of course not. This is another one that I tried to make as a backup." Moody explained, his tone gradually becoming irritated. "It's just that the material of this thing is too poor. It keeps jamming... Damn it, it doesn't work again."
Moody poked the eye until it creaked.
Kyle took a closer look and realized that the blue eyes in Moody's eye sockets were not as lively as the previous magic eyes. They were dull and rigid, and looked like a piece of stone that had been polished into a round shape.
It seems that the reason why this thing is not easy to use is not just a problem with the materials, the craftsmanship of the maker is also a factor that cannot be ignored.
And Kyle didn't think that Moody, an Auror famous for his strength, would use alchemy.
It's likely that thing was really made by him using stone...
"Don't worry about your magic eye for now." Kyle couldn't stand the creaking sound anymore, so he took the initiative to change the subject and asked, "What are you going to do next? I happen to know someone at the Daily Prophet who can arrange a one-on-one interview with you."
Kyle stroked his chin, "How about a hero hiding in the darkness and moving forward alone? Then you can reappear in front of everyone."
What Kyle didn't expect was that Moody rejected his proposal.
"No, I don't think so."
"I know you don't like people from the Daily Prophet, but if you go out like this you'll scare others, just like that guy just now... who is he anyway?"
"Department of Magical Hazards, Director of the Office of Magical Uncontrolled Emergencies," said Moody. "I don't know him well. I only know that he used to work for Cornelius Fudge."
"Oh, okay." Kyle said nonchalantly, and then continued to look at Moody, "How about this, you don't have to show up, just tell me what happened during this period, and I will arrange the rest."
"You misunderstood. I think this is fine." Moody looked through the window at the Hogwarts Castle in the distance.
"I've been a hero many times. One more or one less doesn't matter. It can also save me a lot of trouble."
"You mean, you won't come out and clarify that you're not dead yet?"
"Yes." Moody nodded, "That's why I came to you. I think since Alastor Moody is already dead, there's no need to pull any resurrection tricks."
"Besides, I'm a little overwhelmed, so it's a good way to retire."
As he spoke, Moody turned up the collar of his robe, and a long scar could be clearly seen near his neck.
Moody had many scars on his body, and that one was new and still bleeding, but Moody seemed to feel nothing and closed his collar again.
"I almost died several times," Moody said, his voice so calm that it seemed as if he was not talking about himself.
"My wand is broken too." He took out another wand that was broken, revealing a piece of the core.
“I think it’s a good way to retire.”
"I still think you should think about it," Kyle said.
It's not that he didn't want Mad-Eye to retire, but it's because of his suspicious personality.
Before this, people from the Ministry of Magic would visit him an average of eight times a week, and the things they needed to deal with included but were not limited to repairing garbage cans, chimneys, pipes, street lights that were damaged by magic... treating frightened Muggle neighbors and modifying their memories.
Alastor Moody, who is suspicious by nature, is almost a walking disaster. Wherever he lives, he will bring trouble.
Although it had been a bit troublesome before, the Ministry of Magic had become accustomed to helping this legendary Auror solve some of his life troubles.
But what if this kind of trouble happens again later?
Kyle didn't think Moody could change his suspicious personality.
An unsuspecting employee of the Ministry of Magic came to the door, only to meet Alastor Moody, who should have been dead long ago... then things became much more complicated and harder to explain.
"I know what you're thinking." Moody looked up at Kyle and said in a deep voice.
"I'm doing this for your own good." Kyle shrugged. "As long as you are suspicious, you won't be able to hide this."
"I've thought about it and decided that people like me shouldn't live in a quiet neighborhood. It's just not suitable for me."
"That's true, then how about St. Catchpole Village?" Kyle thought for a moment and said, "If you really want to retire this way, just move here.
"Although there are Muggles in this village, they are all on the other side. You can live with us."
"I'm glad you're willing to take my trouble, but I don't want to go."
"Why?" Kyle didn't understand.
"Because I found a better place, a retirement paradise tailor-made for me."
Moody suddenly broke into a smile, and all the scars on his face were squeezed together, which was a little scary.
"Ah? Where is it?"
"Cornwall, Wandering Wizard Wharf." Moody's eyes were blurred. "I found that I have fallen in love with that place. It feels so familiar. That should be my home after retirement."
"Wait." Kyle interrupted him, "I understand your thoughts, but Lennis is dead, how are you going to go back?"
"But there are still many more wandering wizards alive." Moody seemed to have made a decision. He stood up and walked out the door.
"The existence of wandering wizards has always been destabilizing the British wizarding world, and it is also one of the places with the most dark magic items."
"I will pass on some news to you from time to time. You don't need to worry about how to do it, and you don't need to help me... or in other words, don't hold me back."
"What if you're in danger?" Kyle asked.
"That must be because of something you did," Moody said matter-of-factly.
Kyle twitched his lips, not knowing what to say.
"The magic runes on your door are pretty good." After arriving outside, Moody turned around and glanced at the wooden door, "It's just not lethal enough."
"This is Hogwarts." Kyle said helplessly.
But by this time, Moody had disappeared.
It wasn't Apparition, which was forbidden at Hogwarts, but he just disappeared, just like when he appeared before, and Kyle didn't know what he did.
