Hogwarts: I'm a model wizard
Chapter 818 Methods and Rent
In the alchemy classroom, Kyle stared at the time converter on the table in a daze.
This was incredible. The time-turner that was supposed to have been taken away by Dumbledore suddenly came back and was sent to Professor Victor in Beauxbatons.
To be honest, Kyle came to Beauxbatons on a whim, a decision he made after arriving in France.
In addition to Beauxbatons, he might also go to other famous places, such as the city of Bordeaux and the Magic Opera House that was highly recommended by Cedric.
Nico was also a frequent visitor there, but he still preferred Muggle opera... He believed that Muggles were more ambitious and creative, and wizards were relatively inferior in this respect.
In addition to the opera house, France also has the Red Hat Magic Tricks Company, wine bars popular among troubadours and traveling wizards...all of which are likely to become Kyle's destination.
The reason why he chose to come to Beauxbatons was entirely because of what he saw in the store and the influence of Fleur.
In other words, it only took a few hours from the time he made the decision to the time he set off.
If he had made another choice, or had not come to France, would he never have seen this time turner again?
After all, Victor had just said that the envelope was mixed in with a bunch of failed products. If Kyle hadn't told the truth in time, he might not have remembered it...
Kyle didn't know how Beauxbatons would deal with the failed alchemical products in the end, but it would definitely not be properly arranged somewhere, and it would probably be solved with a cleansing spell.
"Who sent this thing?" Kyle asked again.
"If I had known, I would have told you the first time." Victor spread the envelope on the table.
There was nothing on it except Victor's name and address.
"Anyway, this thing has solved our biggest problem at the moment."
Victor didn't care where this thing came from. He put the pocket watch in the palm of his hand and looked at it carefully.
"It's completely rotten, like a grape that has been squeezed dry of juice..."
"Will it still work?" Kyle asked nervously.
"It's always possible to fix it," Victor said. "The only problem is that it's a bit troublesome and you have to be patient."
"how long it takes?"
"Because of an experience I've had, if it's fast... a month?" Victor said, putting a pair of brass spectacles on his head.
"I have some extra materials here that can help restore it to its original state... I was in charge of it last time as well. This process will probably take about three days."
Then, he put on two peculiarly shaped mechanical gloves on his hands. There were ten bracket-like structures on them, each holding a miniature magic wand about two inches long...a total of twenty magic wands.
"In the meantime, you need to give Nico this letter...if you can contact him."
"I can," Kyle said quickly.
"Then you should write to him and ask him to prepare in advance... The key to repairing the Time Turner is its magic runes and the Philosopher's Stone that serves as its core."
"Philosopher's Stone?" Kyle's heart tightened again.
There are only a few of these things in history. Can Nico really make another one?
"Don't worry, the Philosopher's Stone is still there." Victor told him good news...or at least it was barely good news.
“It’s just that it’s been drained dry, and there’s no magical reaction on it, otherwise I wouldn’t have ignored it.
"But I don't know if it can be repaired... This is not my strong point. Nico needs to think of a solution."
"Now, you can go out if you have nothing else to do. By the way... remember to tell Olim to postpone the alchemy classes for the next few days."
Victor pulled down his spectacles, and his whole demeanor changed instantly. He looked like a sculpture, without any change of emotion on his body.
Kyle lowered his voice and walked silently to the door.
As he approached, a gap appeared in the magic runes on the door and the door lock opened automatically. But when he walked out, the door that was pushed open automatically locked again with a click.
Kyle stood at the door for a while. He could not hear any sound from inside, so he walked in the direction he came from, towards Ms. Maxim's office.
During this time, Kyle also wrote a letter with an automatic quill pen. By the time he reached the door, he had just finished writing on two sheets of parchment.
"Fox..." Kyle said softly.
The phoenix appeared on his shoulder and looked at him with its dark, bright eyes.
"Send this to Nico." Kyle folded the parchment. "This concerns Professor Dumbledore. It must be delivered."
Fawkes nodded, took the parchment in his mouth, and disappeared with a puff.
After Fox left, Kyle went to the principal's office of Beauxbatons and conveyed Professor Victor's request to him.
"So you're saying that our Professor Victor is going to temporarily stop the alchemy class for some reason?"
Ms. Maxime looked at Kyle with a hint of confusion in her tone.
She knew Victor. He was a man who spent his time teaching alchemy and attending classes. The purpose of his classes was to make many people understand this subject.
Therefore, if there was nothing particularly important, he would not ask to suspend the course.
"What did you talk about?" Ms. Maxime asked with narrowed eyes, which was quite oppressive considering her nearly thirteen-foot height.
"Because of some special circumstances, but I can't tell you what they are." Kyle thought about it and gave up the excuse he had prepared.
"I can't tell you..." Madam Maxime said in a deep voice, "This is Beauxbatons, not Hogwarts. You and our professor are discussing something in private, and this matter may even affect the students' courses... In this case, you still don't want me, the headmaster, to know?"
"I'm sorry, Ms. Maxime, but it's true." Kyle said stiffly, "It's mainly because the matter is a bit serious and I don't dare to make the decision... If you are willing to wait, Professor Dumbledore will come to explain to you in person and express our sincerity and gratitude.
"Professor Victor has indeed helped us a lot. No one can deny that."
Ms. Maxime was silent. She looked at Kyle, who also looked up calmly.
He could indeed find a reliable excuse to temporarily fool Ms. Maxime, which was not difficult for him.
But Ms. Maxime was right about one thing, this was Beauxbatons after all, and it was someone else's territory.
Out of respect, he couldn't do this. Otherwise, once the lie was exposed, things would be in a bad way. Although he wouldn't fall out on the spot, Maxim would definitely feel uncomfortable.
For now, every ally is invaluable to Hogwarts, and Kyle does not want to leave any grudges in the hearts of both parties because of this matter.
But he couldn't tell the truth, so he had no choice but to use this method.
As for what to do next, that is something Dumbledore needs to consider. If he can satisfy Maxim, then everything will be fine.
If he can't come back in the end...it doesn't matter whether we are allies or not.
After a few minutes.
"Okay, considering your current situation, I can either not ask any more questions or decide to postpone the next alchemy class." Ms. Maxime said, and her aura suddenly withdrew, as if nothing had happened just now.
"But you must give me an explanation as soon as possible."
"Don't worry, Ms. Maxime." Kyle assured: "Once this matter has a result, Professor Dumbledore will come as soon as possible."
"I will believe you for now," said Ms. Maxim. "You can go back and rest."
"There's one more thing." Kyle said a little embarrassedly, "I may have to stay here for a few more days, can I..."
"That's easy. You can stay at Beauxbatons for a while, no matter how long you stay." Madam Maxime said with a smile, "If you feel bored, you can just wander around. If you don't know where to go, the training hall is the busiest place, and it won't affect the students' classes."
"Thanks, I understand," Kyle said.
"Then go back and rest. He will take you there." Madam Maxime waved her hand and a house-elf suddenly appeared in the room.
He bent down and held out his hand, motioning for Kyle to follow him.
……
"That's it. I have to wait for Professor Victor's results, so I have to stay here for a while."
The next day at breakfast, Kyle told Connor what had happened.
"How about I let Furong take you back first."
"No need." Kanna shook her head.
"What about your shop?"
"Just keep it closed. It's not for making money anyway." Kanna said indifferently: "Besides, I'm also very interested in Beauxbatons. It's rare that they are so enthusiastic. It would be good to experience it more."
"If you like, let's go together." Kyle said with a smile. In this completely unfamiliar environment, it wouldn't be awkward to have someone familiar around.
"By the way." Kanna took the second plate of caramel crepes, "Is Hogwarts planning to offer an alchemy class?"
"No." Kyle said, "Why do you ask?"
"Because I think your behavior this afternoon is a little strange." Kanna said, "You asked too many questions, and most of the content has nothing to do with alchemy... No, it should be said that it has nothing to do with alchemy itself, but more with this class."
"Is it that obvious?" Kyle raised his eyebrows.
"It's so obvious." Connor said, "In fact, it's not just me. When you asked for the third time which book a beginner alchemy student should read, Gabrielle also guessed your thoughts.
"But there is one thing I don't understand. Since Hogwarts has no plans to offer new courses, why are you asking these questions?"
"I just think it's necessary, and maybe it will be useful in the future." Kyle took a sip of onion soup, "When I first came here, I discovered that alchemy can indeed bring a lot of convenience to wizards. This is a trend.
"Take the British Ministry of Magic for example. They have been using paper airplanes for so many years, a communication method that should have been phased out long ago, and they have never thought of changing it. This cannot go on. After all, this is not the last century anymore, and wizards also need to develop."
"Just imagine, if a British wizard came to another country and suddenly found that he didn't know how to use many things, wouldn't it be embarrassing?"
"Yes." Kanna nodded affirmatively.
She was like this. When she first came to France, she almost made a fool of herself because she didn't understand the effects of some alchemical items. Fortunately, Furong was by her side, which eased the embarrassment in time.
"So I think it's time for us to make some changes," Kyle said. "It may not be so easy in other places, so let's start with school and set up a new alchemy class to test the waters.
“Once the students get used to it, they will influence the adult wizards around them, and then those wizards will influence more people.
"I believe that if it is a good change, everyone will definitely accept it very well."
"But is it really feasible to let the school add a new course?" Kanna asked doubtfully: "Alchemy is not as simple as cleaning out a classroom. I have seen the layout here. Even if only one tenth of it is restored, the amount of Galleons required is huge. Are the school directors willing to pay for this part of the money?
"And the substance conversion furnace you mentioned is probably not something that can be easily obtained."
"You're right." Kyle nodded. "So I'm just making some preparations in advance. Whether Hogwarts can really add this new course can only be decided after Dumbledore comes back. After all, he is the real headmaster."
"I support you." Kanna said suddenly.
"what?"
"I mean, I support your idea." Connor smiled slightly, "I think what you said makes sense. Although Hogwarts is the oldest and longest-standing magic school, it's time to make some changes."
"Then we really have a tacit understanding." Kyle also smiled.
The two quickly finished their breakfast and Kyle stood up.
"Where are you going next..." Kanna asked, "Are you going to visit other classes? I heard that the ancient runes class here is also very popular."
"Maybe, but not now," Kyle said. "I have to go to the training hall at Beauxbatons now."
"Training hall?"
"It's where students practice magic." Kyle explained, "Beauxbatons has set aside a special area and equipped it with alchemy dummies. Many students who don't have classes go there to practice the new magic they've learned.
"I found out the exact location of the training hall from the house-elf yesterday. To be honest, I like this place very much... I just don't know if Hogwarts has such a large classroom. If possible, it would be nice to have one."
"But what are you doing there?" Kanna asked in confusion, "Do you have any magic that you need to practice?"
"No, I'm going to guide those students," Kyle said.
But Kanna didn't understand even more.
"You traveled all the way from England to Beauxbatons, France, to teach magic to the students here?"
"Let's not talk about how outrageous this decision is. I'm afraid the professors here won't agree with you doing this. After all, you are just a guest, and teaching students is the professor's duty. Your behavior is totally against the rules."
"I don't think they will object." Kyle said with a smile, "If I'm not mistaken, someone has already said hello."
"Who?"
"Of course it's Ms. Maxime. Apart from her as the principal, who else has such power?" Kyle flexed his wrist. "We have to stay here for a few more days, so we have to pay some rent."
Kanna nodded, somewhat understanding.
Madam Maxime has always wanted Kyle to come to Beauxbatons. Is this situation considered as an early adaptation?
"Then I won't go with you." Kanna said with a smile: "Last night Furong said she would take me to see the Crystal Tower. She described it as very beautiful. I want to go and see it."
As they were talking, Kyle noticed that Furong also appeared at the side door of the auditorium.
She was still wearing the big hat and was waving at them.
Kanna also waved at her in response.
"It's okay, just go ahead, I'm enough on my own." Kyle said.
The two walked over and separated at the door of the auditorium.
Connor and Fleur went in the direction of the tower, while he walked in the direction described by the house-elf yesterday.
The training hall is also on the first floor, but not here. Instead, you have to go through several courtyards to the east side near the edge of the school.
There are no classrooms there, and the place is spacious enough so that no matter what noise is made, it will not affect the students who are in class.
Sometimes Kyle really envied the students of Beauxbatons. In the early days of the school, they received a donation from Nicolas Flamel.
No one knows the exact amount of money, but it must be a lot... After all, he is Nicolas Flamel, a legendary alchemist who has lived for hundreds of years. It would be embarrassing for him if he took less.
This donation also enabled Beauxbatons to improve all its teaching facilities in one go.
In comparison, the directors of Hogwarts are a bit stingy and frugal. They are reluctant to replace a broomstick that has been used for decades.
