Chapter 73: Journey to Castlevania
As night fell, Dudley collapsed on the floor and took out his spider legs again to replenish his strength.Being a craftsman is no less labor-intensive than fighting, and it is more difficult to recover from brain fatigue. There is a Castlevania to conquer at night, so he has to save some energy.
In one afternoon, he made 10 arrows and dozens of pistol bullets. It wasn't that he didn't want to see vampires so he fired the AK, but it was too tiring and troublesome to do it by hand, so it was better to save the pistol.
Diana finally rushed back with Harry and brought back some witcher equipment. Harry looked helpless, firstly because there was no news about Grandma Tina and Newt, and secondly because he helped Diana dig up all the afternoon. These things were taken out from the grave.
Dudley took a look and saw that there were knives, swords, shields, maces, finger tigers, big axes, everything.
"Pick a few pieces, they will be very good for dealing with zombies," Diana said, "I hope you won't turn into zombies at night."
Harry grinned and finally picked a leather shield. Dudley felt that his choice was quite right. Rather than using an unfamiliar weapon, it was better to add some defense.
Dudley picked a scimitar, and when he got it, he found that it still had attributes:
[Obtain the ancient scorpion tail scimitar (D level, temporary), the user's strength +3, attack speed +5%]
He danced casually a few times, making the knife generate wind, which was quite smooth.
The three of them prepared for a while before riding on their flying broomsticks and flying towards the depths of the mountain.
"Will there be many wizards going tonight?" Harry asked as he flew.
"I wish fewer fools would die." Diana said angrily, leaving Harry speechless.
"Be careful of enemies other than vampires... I have a feeling we may have a surprise." Dudley thought of the "infected fire dragon" on the task list. This seemed like something that shouldn't appear in the vampire castle.
Although it was a full moon night tonight, the thick dark clouds blocked the moonlight, which made it easier for the wizards to travel.
The three of them flew away from the town on broomsticks in the northwest direction. At full speed, they flew at least 200 kilometers and entered the Carpathian Mountains.
The Carpathians are the remnants of the Alps and stretch for more than 1000 kilometers. Castlevania does not appear in a certain location, so even if many bounty hunters come to join in the fun, it would be difficult to find the location of the castle. But Diana said: "Who would refuse delicious food delivered to their door? Vampires will find ways to attract adventurers!"
Demon hunters have many secret skills that ordinary wizards don't have, and tracking dark creatures is one of them. Dudley wanted to steal his skills, but he couldn't figure out why.Diana just opened a small bottle, dipped her fingers into some of the turbid liquid inside, drew a symbol in the air, and determined the direction to lead them forward.
Flying through forests one after another, the altitude became higher and higher. Dudley felt obviously a little cold. When Dudley thought that Diana had lost her way, she suddenly stopped and said, "Found it!"
She waved her hands to the two little followers, gesturing for them to lower their altitude together, and passed through a coniferous forest. There was a high cliff in front of them, but they didn't see any castle.
"There is a powerful no-flying magic near Castlevania. Except for the vampire himself, flying broomsticks and floating spells will fail." Diana explained.
Dudley suddenly realized. He had been thinking that if a large group of wizards rode over on broomsticks and bombarded the castle, the vampires would have been out of trouble for a long time. Facts have proved that they were already prepared.
"I guess Apparition will also be restricted." Dudley landed lightly and put away the broom.
Diana nodded and said, "So if you encounter danger, just run away." She raised her eyebrows at Dudley provocatively.
Harry was not easily intimidated, let alone Dudley, who retorted to Diana: "Don't worry, I will protect you."
Diana rolled her eyes disdainfully and walked towards the cliff with her long legs.
Just a few hundred meters out, I felt as if I had passed through a layer of cold water. The scenery in front of me suddenly changed drastically. The originally flat hillside became steep and difficult to climb. There were sharp rocks and strange trees everywhere. Lightning flashed across the dark clouds, instantly lighting up the sky and allowing the three of them to see clearly that a majestic black castle stood on top of the high mountain.
"What is that?" Harry pointed to the front. Dudley took a look and saw a stone path extending from the foot of the mountain to the mountain. There was a big tree with all its leaves growing on the roadside of the mountain pass. At this time, there were seven or eight branches on it. There were many spherical objects hanging on the eight. As I got closer, I could see clearly that they were all human heads hanging from the trees.
"Is that a previous victim?" Harry asked quietly.
"No, that's just the mascot at the front door to scare the new guests..." Dudley curled his lips.
It turned out that those heads were not dead objects. When someone approached them, they opened their eyes one after another. A pair of green eyes stared at them with vicious hatred in their eyes.
Diana ignored them, but quickened her pace. When passing by the human-head tree, she raised her middle finger towards the heads.
"Someone has already arrived... We are a little late." Diana said as she walked.
Dudley also saw a lot of fresh footprints on the stone slab, and I'm afraid there were many bounty hunters wandering around here during the day.
"Should we rush in directly? Are there many vampires like Zu Lun?" Harry asked in a low voice. This was what Dudley wanted to ask, but he was too embarrassed to ask.
"What are you thinking? Zu Lun is just a minor player among pure-blood vampires. But let's not go through the main entrance and let the cannon fodder go to the front door to die." Diana looked confident and seemed to be very familiar with the terrain here.
They deviated from the road and turned towards a pit of rocks. After going around and around, they came to a large cave.
"Sister Diana, you have been here before, are you so familiar?" Harry asked weakly.
"Well, I came here once with my teacher when I was 11 years old." Diana replied casually.
Dudley suddenly realized that it was no wonder that Diana brought her two 13-year-old brats to Castlevania without any psychological burden. It turned out that she herself was more powerful.
"You both put a little of this on, be careful, don't talk, just follow me." Diana handed Dudley a small bottle, she also took a bottle, and carefully applied the red substance inside to her own skin On face and arms.
This stuff didn't smell good, it was fishy and smelly, like a mixture of plasma and feces of some kind of creature. Dudley didn't want to know what it was, so he followed Diana's instructions and applied it on himself and Harry.
Diana drank another small amount of unknown potion, held a short knife in one hand, and headed into the cave.
After turning a few corners, there was an underground river in front of them. Diana walked directly into the water. The water was not deep, but Dudley finally knew why Diana told them not to talk and also smeared them with dirty things. It turned out that there was something in the river. But it wasn't just them, there were a lot of people standing densely in front of them, or they couldn't be called people, but zombies, which made Dudley's scalp numb.
The walking corpses have different shapes, including men, women, and children. Some of their limbs are still intact, but their necks are full of small holes. Some are quite old. Not only are they missing arms and legs, some are missing half of their heads, and their bodies are even more damaged. They are shaped like skeletons, but they are not completely dead, but seem to be sleeping.
Diana was dripping with water and slipped through the gap between the zombies. Dudley winked at Harry, indicating that he could wait for her outside, but Harry was not afraid and nodded firmly towards Dudley.
Dudley shrugged and followed Diana's footsteps, but his left hand had already tightened his grip on the scimitar, and his right hand had turned into a revolver.Killing a zombie is worth 2 points. There are at least hundreds of them here, but the terrain is small and Dudley doesn't dare to provoke them here.
They felt as if a century had passed in the short 200-meter river, but they didn't know whether it was because the zombies were not feeling sharp after sleeping, or because Diana's potion was really powerful, and the three of them walked away from the zombies without any danger. After going out, even if it occasionally encountered a zombie on the way, it shook its body and was not awakened.
In one afternoon, he made 10 arrows and dozens of pistol bullets. It wasn't that he didn't want to see vampires so he fired the AK, but it was too tiring and troublesome to do it by hand, so it was better to save the pistol.
