Rebirth 1975: Tore up the call-back order at the beginning

Chapter 1334: Projects launched one after another!

With Zhou Yang's return from Bingcheng and the arrival of a large number of scientific researchers, the work of No. 18 Research Institute has quickly entered the fast lane.

In terms of the unit's infrastructure construction, with the intensive construction work day and night by more than 5000 soldiers from nearly three engineering regiments, and with sufficient construction funds, large-scale projects affiliated to the institute have been completed one after another.

Every time a research institute is built, a group of staff and cadres will move out from the headquarters.

Correspondingly, the area of Babaoliang Village will expand outward again.

At the same time, the staff and cadres assigned to the No. 18 Research Institute and their families arrived one after another. In addition, the scientific researchers sent from the original Babaoliang Research Institute returned one after another. The number of employees in the unit soared rapidly, and the permanent population in the village It is also increasing significantly.

However, with the help of Liang Shi, Liu Yuan, Jiang Chengcai and others, Zhou Yang does not need to worry about most of these things. Now he only needs to take care of scientific research matters.

As the development of the institute got on the right track, various institutes became active, and scientific research projects were launched one after another.

In addition to Lin Yi and his team stationed in Ningshi Tractor Factory and began to formally develop cars, under the personal auspices of Zhou Yang, the aircraft design institute's armed helicopter project and third-generation aircraft project were also officially launched.

After some research and discussion, Zhou Yang officially appointed Huang Zheng from the Changhe Aircraft Manufacturing Factory as the chief designer of the armed helicopter project. Gao Tingye, Zeng Anning, Li Aiping, Hu Xuebing, Hou Wenchao and others from the No. 18 Research Institute were all arranged by Zhou Yang This project department.

At the same time, the newly established helicopter squadron of the No. 18 Research Institute also assigned 4 Mountain Eagle aircraft to this project department.

According to Zhou Yang's requirements for them, starting from the date of establishment of the project department, the armed helicopter modification plan should be completed within half a year, and the armed helicopter modification should be completed within one year without affecting the weapon system.

In order to cooperate with this project, Zhou Yang also contacted the Second Machinery Factory and established the air-to-air missile research and development project department in advance.

The project is headed by Qiao Yishan, deputy commander-in-chief of the Tactical Missile Research Department of the Second Aircraft Factory, and Wang Xuemin, director of the Missile Research Institute of the No. 18 Research Institute, as his deputy. In addition to researching and designing air-to-air missiles suitable for use by armed helicopters, their tasks are also Anti-tank missiles must also be modified into vehicles.

Of course, the most important and most confidential project of the No. 18 Research Institute is the third-generation aircraft. This is the ultimate weapon for maintaining the national airspace and winning the skies in the future, and is truly the most important weapon of the country.

Because it was too important and too difficult to develop, Zhou Yang personally served as the chief designer of this project, and Gu Zhenhua and Yang Huaide served as deputy chief designers.

In addition, Qi Tongguang, Yang Weidong, Guo Suping and others were also assigned to this project department.

In order to cooperate with this project, Zhou Yang ordered the Radar Research Institute to immediately carry out research on new airborne radars.

The reason why a third-generation aircraft is a third-generation aircraft is that in addition to its high maneuverability and high flexibility, it is more important to have beyond-visual-range strike capability, which places higher requirements on radar and avionics technology.

The performance of most domestic radars is very backward. At present, the pulse Doppler radar that was successfully researched by the original Babaoliang Research Institute in the past two years can still be used.

But in Zhou Yang's view, the performance of the Type 888 airborne radar is only about the same as that of the Type 10 radar used by the J-1473 prototype. It can be installed and used.

But facts have proven that the performance of this kind of pulse Doppler radar can only be said to be unsatisfactory. It is okay to make do with it when there is no other way. It is basically impossible to use it with third-generation aircraft to stay ahead.

This has been proven by the J-10 prototype in the previous life.

Therefore, in 2009, our country replaced the radar on the J-10B with a passive phased array radar, namely the JKL-24 active phased array radar.

Knowing this, Zhou Yang didn't want to improvise or take detours. His idea was to go directly to the passive phased array radar.

But he also knows that with our country's current technological level, it is still difficult and almost impossible to develop an active phased array radar.

In fact, the design of active phased array radar is not complicated. As long as Zhou Yang is given time, he is confident that with his current scientific research team, he can complete the design of active phased array radar, and it will be the most advanced active phased array radar in the world in his previous life. Source phased array radar.

However, the biggest difficulty of active phased array radar is not only the design, but also the difficulty in production and high manufacturing cost.

Each small antenna of the active phased array radar corresponds to an independent T/R component, while a fighter airborne radar requires hundreds or thousands of T/R components. One of the difficulties in manufacturing active phased array radar is One is the large-scale industrial production of T/R components.

Specifically, how to effectively control the quality of mass-produced T/R components, how to reduce the single cost of T/R components and thereby reduce the overall cost of active phased array radars, so that such radars can be more widely used. application issues.

Even if these problems are pushed back three to forty years, most countries will still be unable to solve them. So much so that before Zhou Yang was reborn, the countries in the world that could develop and manufacture active phased array radars included Rabbit, Thief Eagle, and Gallic Chicken. A few countries, but most of the remaining countries, face the problem of low yield rate of T/R components when manufacturing active phased array radars.

Therefore, after some research, Zhou Yang finally decided not to build an active phased array for the time being, but to build a passive phased array radar.

Although the performance of passive phased array radar lags behind that of active phased array radar, its development difficulty is much less.

Of course, with the current level of domestic technology, this is still a hellish level of difficulty, but it is not completely impossible.

More importantly, in his previous life, Zhou Yang led a team to participate in the development of a passive phased array airborne radar, which was successful and used in the J-10 modification.

But it is a pity that this radar could no longer meet the needs of the military at that time, and the Air Force was not satisfied with its actual use. After only 10 J-50s were produced, they were urgently stopped and improvements continued.

The later upgraded J-10Cs were all equipped with more advanced JKL-24 active phased array radars.

But now it's 79. At this time, a passive phased array radar is developed, which is definitely the best.

Regarding the passive phased array radar project, Zhou Yang is going to let Guo Yamin take charge. Although his teacher is old, the old man's health is still fine as long as he doesn't eat pig head meat.

The most important thing is that among all the scientific researchers at the institute, only his own teacher understands him best and cooperates with him most tacitly.

Many other researchers first thought of difficulties when they saw the design plan, but Mr. Guo first thought of how to implement it. This is the gap.

But it is a pity that he is now in the Kongliu Institute, so Zhou Yang decided to let Chen Shanhe take charge of the preliminary work first, and after the early warning aircraft project is completed, Guo Yamin will take over the follow-up research.

In addition, the Radar Research Institute has another project to be launched, which is to develop an air warning radar for the 051 destroyer.

Zhou Yang also attaches great importance to this project. If third-generation aircraft are the future of the Air Force, then the 051 giant ship project is the obsession of the Navy.

Objectively speaking, in Zhou Yang's view, even though the current 051 is equipped with advanced radar and electronic equipment, it is not advanced overall.

After all, the foundation of this warship is not that good. It continues the large aspect ratio hull design characteristics of the Kotlin-class destroyers of the Woolly Bear Alliance, resulting in a slender and narrow hull with a serious lack of space.

Not only did it limit the choice of weapon systems, it also led to extremely poor living conditions for personnel. In addition, the research and development cycle was too long, and it lagged behind in service. Therefore, after the "Full Steam Seven Sons" were built, they were not built again.

But it is undeniable that that is the best we can do at the moment.

At the same time, in order to complete the development of electronic equipment, more than a dozen research institutes and factories across the country worked step by step, and finally completed the process despite very poor technical reserves, and accumulated valuable experience.

It was only from 051 that our country had a complete ship development and production system. Zhou Yang also felt very honored to be an important part of this country's projects.

Therefore, he appointed Niu Weitong as the general person in charge of the air warning radar, and Yan Haisheng to assist in research.

At the same time, in order to create a suitable test base for this radar, Zhou Yang also transferred an engineering company to Chaer Lake in the southeast of Yunshan County to build a test place and a large wooden hull boat to simulate Navy ship!

With the joint efforts of various departments, the behemoth No. 18 Research Institute is finally running at high speed...
