A day of learning magic at Hogwarts
Chapter 8 What I saw on the train
"Really, that's great!" Ernie McMillan's voice sounded very excited, "We will be classmates from now on!"
"Ian Twisted Fate, but the surname Twisted Fate seems..."
He was obviously trying hard to think of a well-known wizard with this surname, but was clearly not able to do so.
"Your parents must also be outstanding witches and wizards!" Ernie, who had been holding back for a long time, had no choice but to ask.
Ian spread his hands and said with a smile: "Actually, I don't know if they are witches or wizards... I grew up in an orphanage."
"Sorry!" Ernie quickly shut his mouth knowingly.
But Ian didn't care.
"Ernie?" He glanced at his new companion and asked with interest, "Are your MacMillan family the legendary pure-blood wizard family?"
"Of course!" Ernie suddenly gained a new temper: "You can even trace back to the wizards nine generations ago in our family, pure blood without any dispute!"
"That's great!" Justin on the side said with emotion:
"I was originally going to go to Eton College, but I didn't know I was a wizard until I received the letter from Hogwarts. My mother was very depressed when she learned that I had decided to go to Hogwarts School."
Eton College? It is a famous aristocratic public school for boys in the UK. The children who can go to school there must not be from a simple family background.
Ian couldn't help but glance at Justin.
"I didn't know I was a wizard until I met the cat... and Mrs. McGonagall!" he echoed.
Ian is obviously more interested in the wizarding family than Eton.
He turned sideways and continued to ask Ernie: "You grew up in a wizarding family, so you must have learned a lot from your parents...such as advanced magic spells, unique potion formulas, and special spellcasting. Techniques and the like..."
"Of course!" Ernie nodded without thinking and coughed lightly at the same time.He patted his chest and boasted: "When I was at home, sometimes even my father couldn't break the spells I cast!"
"Awesome!" Justin on the side looked at Ernie with envious eyes, "Can you show us your skills, Ernie?"
"Uh... um..." Looking at Justin's expectant eyes, Ernie seemed a little embarrassed, "Now?"
"Ian and I are both looking forward to it!" Justin's tone was a little excited.
"Okay...okay..." Ernie stammered.
Ian already sensed something was wrong from his tone; however, Justin was completely unaware of it.
Ernie reluctantly took out a brand new wand from the suitcase.
Then, under the gazes of Ian and Justin, he waved the wand in his hand aimlessly.
Finally, he couldn't hold it in any longer...
I only heard Ernie sigh: "Actually, I don't know anything!"
"Huh?" Ian and Justin opened their mouths almost in unison.
Ernie's face turned red: "My parents never taught me these things. They are too busy at work..."
"And they always say that by the time I get to Hogwarts, I'll have learned everything!"
"Uncle Kenny once taught me a spell or two, but I've long since forgotten how to use them."
"Is that so..." Ian nodded thoughtfully.
Looking at the disappointed eyes of his two companions, Ernie took a deep breath and decided to get back on his feet:
"Do you know Quidditch?"
Justin and Ian both shook their heads.
"Oh, that's such a shame!" Ernie began to talk endlessly, "That's the best sport in the world!"
Then, he began to explain the positions of the four balls and seven players, and vividly described the several football games he had watched live.
……
Ian echoed, but his thoughts were not at all on that ball game with a confusing name.
Ernie MacMillan seemed like a sincere kid, and he was only 11; so Ian didn't think he was cheating.
The McMillan family is obviously an ancient and powerful wizard family... they are pure blood for nine generations, and there was a famous wizard like "Melania McMillan" three generations ago...
It seems that the descendants of such a family have not received any reliable preschool education.
This can only prove one point——
My previous understanding of the wizarding world was slightly off.The wizarding world is not as "volumey" as originally imagined.
It seems to be more inclined to the free-range "happy education" of Western families.
Ian was originally very worried because all of these students from pure-blood wizard families had "special skills" before entering school.
A young wizard like me who has never been exposed to magic before and comes from the Muggle world will be left far behind by them.
Now it seems that he was completely overly concerned... Even compared with his Muggle-born peers like Justin Finch-Fletchley, Ernie MacMillan is not that far ahead...
And I have excellent study habits developed over decades.
If he really got "rolled up" in the magical world, Ian would have nothing to fear.
……
The three children in the box quickly became familiar with each other.
Justin, who had been very nervous before, was completely relaxed.
The flight attendant pushing a trolley filled with food knocked on the compartment door; the three of them all bought some snacks and ended their previous conversation about Quidditch while eating.
Although Ernie spoke very passionately, Ian was still confused about the basic rules of the sport.
Ernie took a bite of pie and continued: "Do you know Harry Potter?"
"I know this!" Justin said while gulping down the pumpkin juice. "I saw his name in the book several times!"
"I've heard of it too!" Ian nodded calmly.
"He was so powerful when he was one year old. He is destined to do a big career!" Ernie sighed: "It's a pity that he and I will not be assigned to the same academy!"
"Ernie, how do you know?" Justin put down the pumpkin juice in his hand, his eyes full of curiosity.
"My father told me... Harry Potter's parents are outstanding witches and wizards from Gryffindor House, and coupled with the powerful talent he has shown since he was a child..." Ernie said confidently, "He will definitely Sorted into Gryffindor house!"
"And I...we, the MacMillan family, come from Ravenclaw House for nine consecutive generations!"
"Gryffindor"..."Ravenclaw"...and the previous "Hufflepuff"...
These seem to be Hogwarts colleges?
What are the differences between these colleges?
At this time, Ian couldn't help but feel a little more curious.
"Ian Twisted Fate, but the surname Twisted Fate seems..."
