hpMy messy life at Hogwarts

Chapter 22 Chapter 22

"Now, line up in single file," Professor McGonagall said to the first years. "Follow me."

I moved slowly with the crowd, entered a double door and entered the luxurious auditorium. Four long tables were arranged according to the colleges. Thousands of candles floated in the air, and the light they emitted made the hall as bright as day. Hermione whispered: "It's enchanted and looks like the sky outside. I read about it in Hogwarts: A History."

Professor McGonagall gently placed a four-legged stool in front of the first-year students, and placed a pointed wizard's hat on the stool. The hat was patched, worn, and extremely dirty, as if it had been picked up from an old warehouse that had been abandoned for hundreds of years. Everyone in the auditorium, both freshmen and old students, were staring at the hat, and the auditorium was silent. Then, the hat twisted and cracked a wide slit, like a mouth, and the hat began to sing: You may not think I am beautiful, but never judge a book by its appearance...

After Hat finished singing, the audience burst into applause. Hat bowed to each of the four tables, then stood still. Ron also breathed a sigh of relief.

Professor McGonagall took a few steps forward, holding a roll of parchment in her hand. "Whoever's name I call now will put on his hat, sit on the stool, and wait for the sorting." She said, "Hannah Abbott!"

A little girl with a rosy complexion and two golden braids stumbled out of the queue and put on a hat that just covered her eyes. She sat down. Pause for a moment -

"Hufflepuff!" Hat shouted.

People at the table on the right applauded and cheered for Hannah, and then the girl ran over happily.

"Susan Bones!"

...

Slowly, Hermione, Ron and Malfoy completed the sorting, and Harry was also sorted into Gryffindor under everyone's attention.

"Prewett Lacey!" Following Professor McGonagall's voice, I walked towards the hat, and there were many inquisitive looks from the audience.

"..." The Sorting Hat pondered for a while, and then said in embarrassment, "Smart Occlumency, so I can't understand you, or even communicate with you quietly in my head."

There was a burst of discussion and exclamation from the audience.

"Sorry, maybe it's innate, and I can't help it~" This was the first time I knew that I knew Occlumency, but I hadn't learned it. Maybe it was inherited.

"I think the Prewett children should be sorted into Slytherin." The Sorting Hat began to suggest.

"I think Hufflepuff is more suitable for me." I objected to the Sorting Hat. "I know there is a kitchen and special late-night snacks."

"You can't just do it for midnight snacks! But you are suitable for Slytherin" the Sorting Hat tried to save me.

I'm not impressed at all.

"You have to know...Slytherin...right! It has a small number of people. You can have a separate bedroom, but Hufflepuff is four people." The Sorting Hat had a flash of inspiration.

"Really? Then go to Slytherin. It's more comfortable to sleep alone than to have a late night snack." It allows me to learn my special magic in the dormitory.

"Slytherin!" the Sorting Hat shouted.

Under the applause of the top hat, I sat down opposite Malfoy. I smoothed my curly hair, glanced at him provocatively, turned my head and ignored him, and smiled at Hermione at the next table.

After a sumptuous dinner and an awkward singing of the school song, and then listening to Dumbledore's speech, I followed the prefect to my dormitory, cleaned up briefly and fell asleep tiredly.
