Mysterious Walker at Hogwarts
Chapter 14 Dean’s Wand
"Don't worry, kid, as long as you don't plan to do anything bad to the wand I made, I won't anger you." Ollivander saw Dean's worry and comforted him.
After listening to Ollivander's words, Dean understood a little bit: It seemed that Mundungus had modified the wand he bought from Ollivander into the shape of a pipe without permission, thus offending the wand master.
Ollivander had already taken out a long tape measure with silver scales on it: "Which arm do you use to use the wand?"
"Uh, right hand." Dean said, extending his right hand.
Ollivander immediately began to measure Dean, first from shoulder to fingertips, then from wrist to elbow, shoulder to floor, knees to armpits, and finally the circumference of his head.
"Based on your physical condition, I think - how about this wand? Thirteen inches, a combination of willow wood and unicorn hair, very flexible." Ollivander pulled out a long box from the bottom of the shelf , took out the wand and handed it to Dean.
Dean waved it unconfidently: except for the sound of wind caused by waving the wand itself, nothing seemed to happen.
"Oh, it doesn't seem appropriate." Ollivander didn't seem to notice the embarrassment on Dean's face. With actions that were inappropriate for his age, he climbed up the ladder and took down another wand from the top of the shelf. Box: "Grapevine and jackalope antlers, twelve and a quarter inches, tough, try this."
However, a more embarrassing scene happened: Dean almost took the wand, and as if he had been hit by a disarming spell, the wand broke out of his grasp and spun to the corner of the shop.
"Well, this kind of situation is rare. It seems to be rejecting you..." Ollivander frowned and said, "Let me think about it, there are other wands that may be suitable for you."
"Perhaps we can try the combination of blackthorn wood and dragon heartstrings?" Dean couldn't help but muttered in a low voice. Since Mundungus had prepared this wand for him, why not take this opportunity to consult Ollivander? A wand master.
"Blackthorn wood? This is an extraordinary choice, but are you sure?" Ollivander's eyes lit up and he looked Dean up and down.
"Uh, what's the problem?" Dean asked anxiously.
"Young man, tell me, are you interested in becoming an Auror in the future?" Ollivander asked seriously.
"I haven't thought that far yet, but becoming an Auror seems like a good choice." Dean replied uncertainly.
"If you haven't made up your mind yet, I advise you not to choose a wand made of blackthorn wood." Ollivander shook his head imperceptibly.
"Why?" Dean asked puzzled.
"Generally speaking, there are only two types of people who use blackthorn wands, Aurors or Death Eaters - of course most of the Death Eaters have now been sent to Azkaban." Ollivander insisted warned.
Dean almost became angry when he heard this. He didn't think that an Auror would give up his wand easily, so the answer was obvious. Mundungus got one captured from Azkaban prisoners from somewhere. How brave you are to fool him with your magic wand!
It seems that the blackmail of Mundungus just now was not enough. No wonder the task of "teaching the greedy devil a lesson" has not been completed yet.
"Then do you think I can still choose a suitable wand?" Dean asked modestly.
"Of course it's no problem." Ollivander selected several more wands and gave them to Dean to try out. However, these wands were either unable to use magic or refused Dean to be their master, without exception.
Dean had the urge to hide his face and cry. Could it be that because he was in a state of mental failure, no wand could be used in his hand?
"It's so strange. This has never happened before." Ollivander's face turned slightly red. Could it be that he still suggested that Dean go to Grigovitch's Wand Shop?
No, never! This is simply tarnishing his reputation as one of the top three wand makers in Europe!
Ollivander slapped his head anxiously and hurriedly walked to the deepest shelf: "An extraordinary combination, ebony wood and thunderbird tail feathers, eleven and one-half inches, full of toughness. This is what I saw in my early years. When I traveled to the United States, I made a wand using local materials. More than half a century has passed in the blink of an eye, and I haven't been able to find a suitable owner for it. Maybe you can try this."
Ollivander babbled out a wand box that made him think something, and opened it solemnly in front of Dean.
As soon as Dean saw this dark wand, which was exuding a faint blue light, his heart beat wildly. He had a hunch that this was it.
Dean carefully took out the wand and waved it gently. A brilliant electric flower immediately appeared on the tip of the wand. The electric flower spread rapidly in the air and turned into a breathtaking tree of thunder and lightning in the blink of an eye.
Dean tilted his wand slightly, and the lightning tree immediately rolled back, crackling to form a grid, wrapping Dean in it, forming a cocoon of meteoric light that lasted for a full minute before dissipating in the air.
"It's so amazing. It turns out that you are the owner it has been waiting for for many years. I never thought that I would be able to see it in my lifetime." Ollivander said excitedly with tears in his eyes.
I really don't know whether I am happy that this Thunderbird wand has found its owner, or whether I am crying because I have saved my reputation.
"This wand is really great!" Dean was also extremely satisfied. This wand was like a part of his body and could faithfully display every detail he wanted.
"Nine galleons - it's perfect." Ollivander sighed, as if he had not yet gotten over his excitement.
"Okay, nine Galleons!" Dean shouted outside the store.
Before he finished speaking, nine glittering Galleons were thrown in from the door in a chaotic manner as if they were angry.
Dean stretched out his hand and copied every piece in his hand, and respectfully placed it in the hands of Ollivander, who was still too excited to extricate himself.
"Hell!" Mundungus cursed secretly outside the door. When he saw Dean receiving the galleons he deliberately threw casually, he was once again sure that he was no match for this little kid.
"Mr. Mundungus, what did you say?" Dean came out of the wand shop and happened to hear Mundungus curse secretly.
"I mean you didn't bargain? The wand you bought is too expensive. It should usually not cost more than 5 Galleons!" Mundungus said with an unkind expression.
The business he did today made his heart bleed.
"If you are not satisfied with the price, you can go and talk to Mr. Ollivander in person." Dean's understatement left Mundungus speechless.
"Hmph! There's only one pet left, what do you want?" Mundungus grunted reluctantly after being angry for a long time.
His only thought now was to get rid of this little devil, Dean. He swore that he never wanted to see Dean again.
"An owl." Dean had already thought about it.
"Owls are the most expensive. You are really good at choosing! Let's go to the Eela Owl Store." Mundungus walked ahead without looking back.
After listening to Ollivander's words, Dean understood a little bit: It seemed that Mundungus had modified the wand he bought from Ollivander into the shape of a pipe without permission, thus offending the wand master.
