American Comics: The Force Awakens
53.Brother?
On the workbench upstairs of the toy factory, four people were playing cards in a dim environment.
Scarecrow, Poison Ivy, Harley and Carl.
Because this is America, they play bridge, and the king and king are thrown aside.
Harley was the banker in this round, but she was not in a hurry to play her cards.
"Xiao Hong, help me see if they have started to fight." She played the cards with her hands boredly, making a crisp sound.
A vine stretched silently towards the railing, reached down, and then retracted.
"No, they seem to be still staring at each other, and there is no sign of fighting."
"They will fight, and Lincoln doesn't have that much patience. He has been holding grudges for a long time." Karl replied lightly, "Also, don't cheat with plants, I can feel it."
He pointed back at the squirming green plants behind him.
The vines shrank back without leaving a trace.
The Scarecrow sighed and dropped the cards on the table.
"We really don't need to go and see what happens if he loses." He tried to change the subject.
Tonight was a night of ups and downs for Scarecrow. He gave himself a good entrance, the scene was perfect, and his exit was also excellent. But his accomplices soon began to let themselves go, causing him to experience some absurd frustrations.
"Fear gas, the illusion created by Poison Ivy's pollen, and a little bit of Force trickery. Batman has enough stuff in his head tonight." Carl sighed, "Plus the new characters'... Bring your own buffs, if Night Owl can't win again tonight, my suggestion is that he go back to Victor and freeze himself for 70 years before leaving the mountain."
"And he can't be killed now anyway."
Harry didn't know when he was lying on the railing, looking down.
"Based on my observation, they are about to start filming." She waved back, gesturing for them all to watch. "Lincoln is obviously the one who can't hold it in."
So there were four more spectators in the special seats.
I don’t know how long the confrontation between the two men in black lasted, it might have been just a moment.
"Remember the first time you returned to this city?" Lincoln finally spoke. "It's a wonderful sight to see the Riddler filling the city with question marks, his big head delivering his boring speech on the big screen, and you watching it all from your motorcycle, helpless."
"But you quickly proved to the city who you were. Not yourself, but a bat in a cape."
"At that point, I was in the crowd watching, and I was even caught up in it. I was brave enough to admit that this was a hero that Gotham had come to expect more than anything we had come to expect before. The Knight Stands Up Come out and slay the dragon.”
"So now let me ask you, who am I." He stretched out his arm, and two sharp spikes popped out of the arm armor, pointing directly at Batman. "Illusion, trick, or something real?"
"The Court of Owls." Batman whispered. His head hurt. Maybe he had just received too many illusions and he was not awake enough. But he still struggled to stay focused on "something that I thought didn't exist."
"Really, you didn't find out the truth, or you... don't want to find out the truth?"
With the sound of mechanical transmission, Night Owl's cloak was suddenly blown up - his exoskeleton armor comes with a propulsion device capable of flying, which can give him air superiority and strong acceleration in battle.
The quick straight punch that accompanied the advance didn't hit Batman, just nicking his cape.Bat backhanded Lincoln in the face, knocking him back, but the armor helped him maintain his balance.
"Honestly, this is much lighter than I thought." He spat and turned around. "Is there anything more cruel?"
"As you wish." Batman said coldly.
Tonight is not a good night for Batman. Two people died. He tracked the Scarecrow here, but relived a childhood nightmare that he didn't want to recall. The influx of information and repeated visions made his brain hurt, and now, there was a weird owl who was constantly provoking.
"I've had enough of pretending to be nice."
While shooting the batarang with his left hand, the rope gun in his right hand bound Lincoln's arm. This was followed by a rapidly approaching kick to the abdomen as the rope contracted. The cloak opened in the air, and this kick made Lincoln's body bend into an arch. Without the protection of armor, he would have received a lot of damage even after being strengthened.
But wearing armor, he reacted quickly and stretched out his other hand that was not bound by the rope gun.Another dagger popped out of the arm armor, and with a casual stab, the dagger pierced Batman's thigh.
It hurts, but bats are used to it.He hit Lincoln's head with his head. The two equally hard helmets collided together, and the impact caused a brief dizziness.Taking this opportunity, Bat's legs used strength to break free from the piercing dagger, leaving the danger zone and standing on the ground again.
Lincoln began to swing the dagger again, trying to stab the other person again. But he was just waving around in the air.
Batman's bladed bat-armor deflected the dagger's attacks, and then kicked away the entangled Lincoln, and the two separated again.
Lincoln pulled away his arm from the rope, panted heavily, and smiled as he looked at Batman with his injured leg.
"It seems that you are not as powerful as they say."
"You don't know this ancient city as well as you think."
"That makes no difference." Batman said solemnly. "Even if the Court of Owls is real, you are just another group of ordinary criminals to me. There is nothing special about you."
He raised his fists and took a stance.
"You may be my childhood nightmare, but Batman is not afraid of you."
"I thought they had shown you the facts, what the court had done to you." Lincoln said with a grim smile, "They made you lose your first relative, and the trajectory of your life changed."
"Yes, I saw that. I lost my brother to premature birth very early on because of the courts."
"But that doesn't affect the fact that I will defeat you in the end."
"No, that's not the point of today!" Lincoln suddenly roared.
"No one cares what you think about the Court of Owls. What you have to answer is the question you have been avoiding. Who am I?"
There was silence for a while, and then Batman spoke, his head hurting more and more.
"You are just an owl. You have hurt my family, and I will take my revenge."
"Wrong answer, Bruce Wayne, I'm very disappointed in you."
"I am your brother."
