American Comics: The Force Awakens
43. Listen to the clown
When Harvey walked into the door marked "Terminal", he unexpectedly found that the room was very bright, in sharp contrast to the dim corridor.
But the clown did seem to tell the truth. There were no traps, traps, or crazy goons in makeup along the way. He just walked over.
The whole house was filled with various accessories, pumpkins, ghosts, anything that should appear on Halloween.
Then he caught sight of the smiling man sitting at a long table.
"Joker!" He subconsciously wanted to rush forward, but quickly stopped.
Not only because he remembered Batman telling him not to act rashly, but also because he was embarrassed to find that he was bare-handed.
And he was facing a dark muzzle.
"Yeah, calm down. We are all civilized people, there is nothing we can't talk about." The clown gestured with the muzzle of his gun and motioned for Harvey to sit across the table. "By the way, you don't have to count on that little Bat gadget in your pocket. Little Bat and I are old friends, and maybe I can tolerate some of his cheating from time to time - that's what makes the game fun, isn't it? But it's not always so."
"What on earth do you want to do!" Harvey asked loudly.
"No, don't talk like that, it makes you act like an ordinary policeman." The clown curled his lips.
"You see, I'm very kind to you, so I told you the safe way - of course, I don't expect you to be grateful to me for this, and the only thing you have to do to get the prize now is to defeat me."
The clown turned sideways slightly, revealing a huge gift box at the end of the room that could hold a whole person. It was decorated with Halloween-style colors and colorful ribbons.
"What?" Harvey slowly approached the table, the gun still pointed at him. "What do you want to do?"
"Oh, good. It's good that you're starting to hit the road." The clown grinned. "Let me think about it, why don't we flip a coin to decide - that's fair, isn't it? I heard that you are very good at the police station. Like playing games like this, you always win.”
"Of course, if it's heads, then I win - bang, the bomb goes off, everyone is happy." He laughed. "If it's tails, I'm leaving here and you get the coveted prize. Now here's the question - do you have Coins?”
Harvey didn't answer.
"No, no? That's a pity." The clown sighed deliberately, "I thought things would become very simple."
"Ah, you look so calm. Did Batman tell you not to act rashly? It's so cute." He said, "There is always a plan."
"But I'm different. I don't have any plans. Since you don't have any coins to use, let's just chat."
"Look, Mr. Dent, we don't really have any grudges or anything like that, no, no." He seemed to really start his strange chat. "I don't even know where you live."
"Liar! You broke into my house and kidnapped Greda, and now you say something like this?" Harvey retorted. He seemed to be unable to do anything but delay, which made him feel extremely powerless.
"No, no, no, let me correct you, Harvey, can I call you Harvey? Okay, okay." The clown shook his green hair.
"Look, I really don't know where your home is. What happened today is just a small accident for you. I have a few friends from the underworld. Today is Halloween, and they plan to go out for a drink—— Suddenly, the bad news came that their boss was shot and killed, what a disappointment!"
"Their friends were afraid of taking the blame, so they came to me for help - it seems that Uncle Clown is a bit smart. And guess who I found?"
Harvey was stunned. From just now, the clown seemed to be hinting at something to him, a terrible fact.
"You're lying, you just want to confuse the audience." Harvey said, but his voice didn't sound very confident.
"Come on, Harvey. You know what I'm talking about, just a quick guess."
"Question: Why would the murderer use a small-caliber female pistol? It is not easy to use this kind of gun to kill people, and it is difficult to kill. Compared with other bizarre reasons, the answer is simpler - because the murderer is a woman."
"Question: Why can the murderer clearly find the victim's home - you must know that these dirty workers will not easily reveal their whereabouts, which can be fatal. The answer is in your hands."
Harvey does have an account book in his hand, and it contains a lot of interesting information.
"Question: Why did the killer kill the victim - the answer is simpler, because there was a grudge between them - was there a grudge between you, Harvey? Somebody who was responsible for keeping you from coming home?"
To be honest, this information doesn't actually mean much - the simplest point is that they can also be applied to Catwoman, and even fully meet the conditions: female, relevant information, and interested in gangsters.
But when you are actually in that situation where you are mentally tense all the time, the roots of doubt are easily planted.
Especially when there's a clown in front of you nagging you.
I have been standing in the light, but when I turn around, I find the shadow is right under my feet.
So he got excited and he didn't know how he started moving.
"That's not true-" he heard himself say.
"Oh, come on, you have a chance now, why don't you ask her yourself?" The clown's voice seemed to come from the horizon, as if he was struggling to grasp the last straw.
"Let her go—"
"Oh, that's not very friendly." The clown looked at Harvey's hand grabbing his collar, and punched him, making him laugh.
"Hahahahahahaha - that's right, you just acted like a dead person and was boring."
The two people, who could hardly say they had learned fighting skills, quickly became entangled and then separated.
Harvey had the Joker's pistol in his hand and pointed it at the Joker.
"Let her go," he repeated breathlessly. "Otherwise I would actually shoot."
"That's it? Come on Harvey, you can do better." Facing the gun, the clown was still smiling.
The fingers gradually tightened, and then there was a "pop" sound.
A small flag with joke written on it protrudes from the muzzle of the gun - it is the clown's classic prank gun.
"Huhuhahahahahaha - surprise!" The clown burst out with the loudest laughter tonight - he pressed the white plastic flower on his chest, and a stream of green liquid spurted out towards Harvey, instantly Covering half of his face.
As for why it's not the whole face, who knows.
Harvey fell, and the Joker danced happily - he once again successfully defeated Batman's allies - although it was not the Bat himself, but as long as he killed Catwoman next, the night would be perfect.
And soon, Bat will realize that his new friends are unreliable, and Uncle Clown is his eternal destination.
Under the light, something seemed to be shining on the ground. The clown went over and took a look, and it turned out to be the gold coin that Harvey never left.
However, the upward side of the coin seems to be stained with the clown's corrosive acid, and the original exquisite carvings even look a little blurry.
He shrugged and walked towards the big colorful gift box.
