Chapter 90 Chatting with Dumbledore
There is a gargoyle on the eighth floor of Hogwarts Castle.
It is the gatekeeper to the principal's office, and a rather delicate work of art.
"Professor Dumbledore's taste—"
Vincent in casual clothes thought for a long time before reaching out to touch it.
"I think he'd like something more abstract."
Hermione, who was holding the notebook, let go of one hand, and tiptoed towards the gargoyle's head.
"It's just an ordinary decoration."
"Maybe."
Vincent withdrew his hand and said the password to enter: "Pumpkin candy."
The gargoyle trembled slightly, and jumped to the side to reveal the slowly cracking wall behind it.
An automatic upward spiral staircase came into view of the two.
"Professor, are you there?"
No one answered.
Vincent and Hermione walked in.
On a large table in the principal's office, there are all kinds of weird and somewhat abstract small objects.
Some of them were spinning and some were making really funny noises.
"Professor Dumbledore appears to be absent." Seven
Vincent walked over to the snoring portraits.
"They are all old principals from the past."
Hermione pointed to one of them, "This is Armando Dippet, the former principal of the professor."
She moved to another picture next to her. "This is Phineas Nigellus Black, the previous Headmaster."
"Oh." Vincent noticed that the corners of Phineas' principal's mouth twitched, and even his eyelids were trembling slightly.
"Blake..." He shifted his gaze to the back of the door.
On a perched branch stood an old, red strange bird.
Vincent came up to it and took out his wand.
"Phoenix!?" Hermione's eyes moved between the strange bird and the handle.
Apart from the difference in the length of the tail feathers, there are many other differences between the two.
"Oh, this is the phoenix in Asia, right?" Dumbledore quietly appeared behind the two.
Compared to the bewildered Hermione, Vincent put away his wand calmly.
"Professor, does it have a name?"
"Fox.
She hasn't been very energetic recently, and she should be reborn from the ashes soon. "
Dumbledore turned and walked to another small table.
"Hello, Fox." Vincent greeted before following.
Fox opened his eyes a little, then closed them again.
As soon as Hermione came to the table, she opened her notebook and looked at the opposite side, "Professor, we are going to conduct the size limit test of Transfiguration today."
"There's no rush." Dumbledore waved his hand and conjured a small saucer full of sweets.
"Sit down and chat first, I just finished breakfast."
He picked up a piece of yellow-green candy and put it in his mouth.
"Well—it tastes pretty good."
Vincent could clearly see the corners of his eyes twitching slightly.
Hermione picked up one and put it in her mouth, and her whole face shrank from the acid in an instant.
"Professor, isn't this created by magic?"
Dumbledore nodded slightly, "Vincent, you already have some small privileges of the headmaster."
"Is—is it?" Vincent shifted his gaze to the shelf behind him.
There lay the dirty Sorting Hat, and an ornate sword studded with rubies.
Dumbledore followed his gaze and turned his back, "This is one of Godric Gryffindor's relics.
A sword tailor-made for him by Raignac I, the most skilled silversmith among the elves. "
"Is it sterling silver?"
"The goblins have incredible skills and can process any metal into indestructibility."
Vincent stood up and looked at it with great interest.
"Hi~" The sorting hat bent down from the crack, "Son, we meet again."
He bowed slightly, "Hello, Mr. Hat."
After exchanging a few words, he obediently sat back.
According to legend, not everyone can use this sword.
Only a real Gryffindor can pull it out.
Vincent looked eagerly at Dumbledore.
"Son, it doesn't have a scabbard."
He turned to look at the grinning Sorting Hat.
They are all relics of Gryffindor. It is estimated that the sword is usually placed in the hat.
Dumbledore gave him a little appreciative look.
But Vincent blinked.
"Go." Dumbledore smiled and stood up.
He put the sword into the sorting hat.
"The Untraceable Stretching Curse?"
"more than."
Vincent took the sorting hat and found that the weight was no different from before.
Such high-end magic shows how strong the founders were nearly a thousand years ago.
If he had the chance, he would really like to see every piece of their relics.
It's a pity that except for the two in front of me, the others have disappeared in the long river of history.
"Professor, what should I do?"
"Put your hand in, and if it thinks you qualify, you'll touch its hilt."
"What if it fails?" Vincent withdrew his right hand from the brim of his hat, "Could you touch the blade?"
"of course not."
Dumbledore looked at Hermione who was also very interested, "Miss Granger, don't you want to try?"
"No, Professor." She said so, but her eyes kept on the Sorting Hat.
Dumbledore, who smiled without saying a word, watched Vincent stretch his right hand in a little bit.
"Er - I failed."
Vincent lowered his head.
A certain portrait quietly opened its eyes.
Just when Hermione wanted to comfort her, he suddenly pulled his hand out.
There is also a sword.
"Surprise?"
Vincent, who got a pair of blank eyes, is feeling its wonderful touch.
I have to say that the craftsmanship of the goblins is really awesome.
Being able to make such a sterling silver sword invincible is not even as heavy as his "Lucy" made with modern technology.
"Are you sure you don't want to try?"
Vincent put the sword back in the Sorting Hat and handed it to Hermione, who turned her head away.
"I'm not interested in these." She glanced at it quietly, and then quickly calmed down.
Shrugging at Dumbledore, he put the Sorting Hat back on its shelf.
"You are a real Gryffindor, Vincent." Dumbledore glanced vaguely at a certain portrait with twisted features.
"Thank you, Professor." Vincent sat down very modestly.
"Won't you try the candy?"
He pushed the plate back, "Professor, I'm not interested in things that I know are bad."
Dumbledore nodded thoughtfully.
"I think it's time for the Owl Club to be announced."
Both Vincent and Hermione were stunned.
"Having a healthy body is having the greatest freedom."
Dumbledore blinked mischievously, "I hope that all my students will stay away from illness and pain, and not have to go through those incomparably heavy torments."
Vincent, who was the first to react, had an extremely unnatural expression.
Chat first?
It turned out to be a test first!
"Professor, should I understand?" He blinked his big eyes pretending to be silly.
"Ha~" Dumbledore nodded and shook his head with a wry smile, "Minerva is right, you are not an easy little wizard to fool."
Hermione's eyes widened suddenly.
She moved her head stiffly to Vincent who was still playing dumb.
After the fall of McGonagall, Dumbledore also fell?
But this weird atmosphere doesn't look like it.
