Hogwarts Mystery Sequence

Chapter 60 Sphinx Knott

Amon walked down the stone steps and came to the underground library.

This place is about half the size of the library at Black House.

But Amon knew that the collection of books in front of him was not all.

He raised his hand to adjust his monocle and moved to a blank wall.

Standing in front of the wall, Amon seemed to be able to see a door that others could not see. He stretched out his palm and grasped the invisible handle of the door. He turned it with a normal expression and opened the "door".

Then, he stepped into it, passed through the wall, and came to the other side of the wall.

The layout on the other side is no different from the library.

It's just that unlike the bookshelves outside which are filled with books, the bookshelves inside are piled with parchment scrolls.

Amon glanced around with no expression, then walked further inside along the aisle between the bookshelves on both sides.

Then, he came to a wall with no decorations at all, and repeated the operation before, opening a secret room again.

Amon walked into the secret room, which was also a dark library.

However, the books hidden here are not the books of the Nott family, but Amon's harvest in the past month - from two unlucky pure-blood families.

The corners of Amon's mouth curled up slightly. He picked up the kerosene lamp on the desk by the door and walked towards the depths of the secret room.

The bookshelves filled with old books were quietly accepting Amon's review.

Suddenly, Amon stopped.

He gently raised the kerosene lamp in his right hand. In the faint light, he could see that the bookshelves on the left and right in front were empty.

Then, Amon let go of his hand, leaving the kerosene lamp hanging alone in the air.

He adjusted the position of his monocle and took out a suitcase from the pocket of his magic robe.

When I opened the suitcase, it was completely dark inside, as if it was connected to some dark space.

Amon held the suitcase's handle so that the dark interior faced the front.

Suddenly, old books flew out of the suitcase and consciously found their place on the empty bookshelf, arranged as neatly as comb teeth.

This scene lasted for a while, and finally no more books flew out of the suitcase.

Seeing this, Amon put away his suitcase, picked up the kerosene lamp and turned to leave.

Around noon, Amon, who was reading in the bedroom, suddenly raised his head from the desk and adjusted his crystal monocle.

After two seconds, there was a knock on the door, and Bernie's high-pitched voice came from outside:

"Master Amon, the master is back and waiting for you in the study."

"I know." Amon replied.

Then, he slowly stood up and walked towards the door.

The reason why he could predict in advance that Bernie was knocking on the door just now was because his vision was stimulated many times, which made his senses become more and more acute, and he could even occasionally obtain some prophetic images.

Of course, the future corresponding to these pictures is not too far away, and will often come true within a few seconds.

In fact, this can be regarded as a successful prediction of the future to some extent.

But if you want to use it as a ritual for the "prophet of destiny", it falls far short of the requirements.

Because he cannot gain strong resonance from these trivial aspects of life, he naturally cannot use them as an anchor for self-understanding.

While his thoughts were wandering, Amon had already opened the bedroom door.

Then, he saw Bernie waiting respectfully outside the door.

So, he nodded slightly to Bernie and said:

"Let's go."

"Yes, Master Amon." Bernie bowed, turned around and led the way with a gas lantern.

They left the underground library and went all the way to the third floor.

At the door of the study, Bernie bowed and stepped back.

Amon pushed up the monocle in his right eye, then put down his right hand and opened the door.

In the study, Old Nott was sitting on the double-arm sofa in front of the small fireplace with a frown on his face, his hands clasped together and rubbing them unconsciously.

Even the sound of Amon opening the door didn't bring him back from his thoughts.

On the other hand, the portrait of the wizard hanging above the small fireplace exclaimed when Amon entered the room:

"Oh! Isn't this little Amon? You don't come here often."

Amon looked up following the voice and saw a tall and thin male wizard with a goatee in the frame, staring at him with a pair of small blue eyes.

Amon was no stranger to the wizard in the portrait, and knew that he was the Nott ancestor who made the decision to move the Nott family to England - the Sphinx Nott.

But the reason why he knew this ancestor so clearly was not because of his profound impact on the entire family.

But because this Sphinx ancestor is the only ancestor of the Nott family who has left a portrait!

As for other ancestors, they all adhere to the concept of "bringing secrets into the coffin".

They believe that secrets remain secrets because few people know about them.

Therefore, even for people who are also members of the Nott family, they will remain tight-lipped and maintain their "secret miser" nature, rather than leaving behind magical items like portraits that carry their memories.

It is also based on this concept that the wizards of the Nott family are all reserved and deep in character.

But obviously, Sphinx Knott, who can do something special that is different from other people, is not one of them.

The character of this Knott ancestor is also unique among the Knott family members in the past generations.

Moreover, this unique personality was perfectly inherited by the portrait that imitated the original owner's language and behavioral patterns...

"Albert said you always stay in the dark underground library."

"He also believes that you can revitalize the Nott family again."

"I completely agree with his idea."

"Because I have thought so since the first time I saw you, and I have persisted until now. It has not changed for a moment." The Sphinx portrait saw Amon looking at him, but did not stop waiting for Amon. response, but continued to talk endlessly.

In response, Amon simply nodded to this "weird" ancestor without any change in his expression, and then walked towards the double sofa opposite Old Nott amid his endless chatter.

"Oh, you may not remember, after all, you were still very young at that time."

"Yes, you were very young. I still remember your expressionless face despite your baby fat, like an adult."

"Haha, at that time I thought you were a wizard who could accomplish great things!" The Sphinx portrait didn't care about Amon's disregard, and just muttered to itself, looking quite pleased with itself.

But Amon, who walked to the sofa, turned around and sat down, knew that this ancestor was by no means a lonely person, and at the same time, he would not praise someone for no reason, even if that person was his outstanding descendant.

Sure enough, the next second, Amon heard the Sphinx say in a different direction:

"Of course, accomplishing great things isn't easy, it never is, so you're bound to need some help."

"It just so happens that I know a lot of secrets in the magical world. I can tell you all of them, but before that, you must answer my riddles correctly!"

At this moment, Amon could tell without even looking that there must be a touch of arrogance on the face of the Sphinx portrait.

This is the eccentricity of this ancestor. He likes to inadvertently reveal some little secrets that are not on the table in the first few sentences of his words, or use some flattering words to praise the other party, and then seduce the other party to answer his questions. riddle.

In the end, he watched the other person scratch his head because he couldn't answer the riddle, to satisfy his vanity derived from wisdom and secrets.

Of course, that's not the weirdest part.

What really puzzles people is the moodiness of this ancestor.

He may be overly enthusiastic when you first meet him, and even if you don't fall for his hook, he will praise you crazily and without any bottom line;

But the second time you meet, he may not even look at you. His face will be as hard as ice that will never melt, and he will look condescending and arrogant.

Therefore, Amon had always chosen to ignore it.

However, now there is a better way...

Amon had a faint smile on his lips, turned to look at the Sphinx portrait, and adjusted his monocle.

The Sphinx portrait was overjoyed when he saw Amon looking at him, but the next second, he saw the monocle of Amon's right eye seem to have a slight flash of light.

Then, his underlying thinking suddenly became chaotic, his joints were all rusty, and his whole person was like a portrait of a Muggle, unable to move!
