Wizarding Journey from Hogwarts
Chapter 29 Magic Mirror
Christmas is here, and almost all the little wizards have chosen to go home, with only a handful of students still staying in the castle.
Before the holiday, Cecil sent a letter asking Jean if he wanted to return to the manor, but he was rejected because there might be something else he could do in the castle.
On the fifth floor of the castle, Jean walked out of the library and walked in the empty corridor.
Taking advantage of the fact that there were few people in the castle during this period, Jean had explored the castle, and basically visited everything except the offices of various professors.
After walking out of the library, he walked straight in one direction, and finally came to a dilapidated door, with a tall suit of armor standing beside the door.
Opening the door and entering inside, this is a very old classroom with tables and chairs piled up along the walls.
But on the wall facing the door, there was a mirror that was incompatible with the room.
This is a very grand mirror, reaching to the ceiling, surrounded by a gorgeous golden frame, and supported by two claw-shaped feet at the bottom.
Engraved on the top of the mirror are the following words: Eris Stella Ohru Ayite Ubi Kafulu Ayiteon Voorhees.
Standing in front of the mirror, a vast starry sky appeared in the mirror, with countless planets shining brightly in the darkness.
Jean himself stood in the center of the boundless starry sky. With the wave of his arms, countless planets were destroyed, but countless more planets were reborn in the explosion.
This is what Gene saw. What he longed for most was to be able to control and observe everything from the highest point.
"Jean! Why are you here?"
Harry's voice came from behind, and when he turned around, he saw Harry's head floating behind him.
"What's going on with you? Why do you only have one head left!"
Seeing Harry's appearance, Gene immediately showed a concerned expression. Although he knew that he was wearing an invisibility cloak, he still pretended not to know anything.
"I thought I was the only one who knew about this mirror!" Harry took off his invisibility cloak and came to Gene's side.
"I just discovered it by accident. It's a very interesting mirror."
"Yes!" Harry looked at his family in the mirror with a sad expression, "I will come here every day these days."
"Harry, although I don't know what you saw in the mirror, you should understand that these are all illusions and falsehoods."
"Is it really all an illusion?" Harry was somewhat unwilling to accept this reality. "What did you see, Gene?"
"Me..." Gene showed a faint sadness, "I saw a strange man and woman."
"Are they your parents?" Harry did not expect that what Gene saw was the same as his.
"Maybe, after all, I have never met my parents. To be precise, I don't have parents in the traditional sense at all."
Harry couldn't understand the meaning of Jean's words at all, but he could understand what Jean was feeling at the moment, because they were the same.
Unconsciously, Harry had put Jean and himself together for the same kind of people, people who had the same tragic experience.
"You are here!" Just when the two of them were in grief, a wise voice came from behind.
Harry suddenly felt a chill all over his body. He turned around and saw Dumbledore standing behind the two of them.
"Mr. Principal, are you here to see this mirror too?" Gene asked Dumbledore knowingly.
"You, like hundreds of others before you, have discovered the joy of the Mirror of Erised." Dumbledore came to the two of them.
"You must have guessed its magic power. The happiest person in the world can use it as an ordinary mirror, and the mirror will only reflect himself."
Harry was still a little confused, "It allows us to see what we want?"
"It should allow us to see the most urgent and strongest desire in our hearts, Mr. Principal!"
"Yes Gene, you are right, it's like you all see your own family. This is what you have never had and what you most long for; and Ron Weasley has several outstanding brothers to suppress him. He wants to be the best."
Dumbledore continued, "This mirror can neither teach us knowledge nor tell us the truth. People will eventually waste their time in front of the mirror and become addicted or even crazy. The mirror will be moved to a new place tomorrow." Yes, Harry, you have to remember that if you happen to see it again one day, you have to be prepared."
"Okay, I think it's time for you to go back and rest."
After receiving Dumbledore's instructions, the two had no choice but to leave.
But before leaving, Gene asked again, "Mr. Principal, what did you see in the mirror?"
"Me? I saw a pair of thick woolen socks."
Harry didn't know why, so he was pulled away from here by Gene.
Seeing the two leaving, Dumbledore recalled what Gene had just said, and he also saw his parents!
This made him feel relieved that, as he expected, Gene was not trapped by his origins, but found his own path.
This is also what Dumbledore hopes to see. Perhaps in the future, Gene and Harry can move forward hand in hand and support each other.
After the two left the abandoned classroom, they decided to head to the auditorium to find some midnight snacks.
"Jean, I didn't expect you to be like me!"
"What's the same? No parents?"
"Yes."
Hearing Harry's words, Gene rolled his eyes and said contemptuously, "I really don't have parents. At least you have parents, although you don't have the memory of your childhood."
"But they were killed when I was more than a year old."
"It's true, you are also a victim." Gene felt a little angry at what happened to his friend. "It's all because of the prophecy..."
Before he finished speaking, Gene immediately closed his mouth, as if he had said something he shouldn't have said.
"What prophecy!?" Harry immediately concentrated and grabbed Gene's shoulders with both hands. This was something he had never heard of before.
"Hey, someone once predicted that a child born at the end of July would defeat the mysterious man, and the mysterious man also believed this prophecy. At that time, you and Neville were the only ones who met the conditions, but he chose you, which finally made Your parents were killed.”
Harry suddenly felt heartache. He did not expect that the culprit of his family's tragic experience was such an unknown prophecy.
"He...Voldemort, why would he choose me instead of Neville!"
For some unknown reason, Harry suddenly had such an idea.
"I don't know either. It seems that this prophecy was originally known to only Dumbledore, but someone seemed to have tipped it off."
Harry felt heartbroken, and resentment was growing rapidly in his heart.
"Gene, why do you know this?"
Jean was silent for a moment, and finally said, "Actually, I was raised by Death Eaters."
