Soaring at Hogwarts

Chapter 26 Friendly Teachers

In addition to a trip to Gryffindor Tower during the weekend, Ian also went to the alchemy classroom.

Alchemy is an elective subject at Hogwarts, and only qualified sixth- and seventh-year students can take it.

The teacher of this subject is Damasi Gilani, a short man with bright eyes. One of his quirks was that he never appeared in auditoriums—or in public.

Gilani has studied the magic stone and is also knowledgeable in other aspects of alchemy, such as making exquisite instruments with magical effects.

Although he was a weirdo, perhaps because of similar interests, Ian and him hit it off immediately, there was no sense of distance at all, and they had a very pleasant chat.

"Jilani, do you think gold or silver is better?"

"Gold is the most worthless thing," Gilani said eloquently. "Of course I prefer silver."

"Hey, money is cheap."

"It's cheap. It's just convenient for me to buy more." Gilani disagreed.

Ian took out a piece of silver and forged it on the fire: "Why do you say gold has no value?"

"What's the value of gold?" Gilani shook his head and sighed. "The value of gold comes from the recognition of others. What's the value of yourself?"

"Who made gold so attractive?" Ian broke the silver bars into thin slices and asked, "What's the value of silver?"

"There are many. For example, if you carry a silver knife, Peeves will definitely be more careful when he plays tricks on you."

"Then it's still useless!"

"Hahaha!" Gilani laughed.

"How do you think I can get Peeves to stay away from me?"

"God knows." Gilani shook his head, "I don't have much experience in dealing with him."

"Well," Ian mentioned his knowledge with interest, "I saw that most of Professor Dumbledore's alchemy equipment seems to be silverware."

"Silverware is good," Gilani squinted as he watched Ian hammering the silver bars. "It's clean and much better than gold."

Ian is almost done with his forging.

The silver bar was beaten into a thin piece, connected in the middle, and at the same time three small petals poked out, just like a three-petal flower.

"Jilani, do you know how to use the magic power of runes? Can you teach me?"

"Of course," Gilani agreed happily, "Which one do you want to learn first?"

"Love Watts, with its 'protective' magic."

"Then you have to watch carefully," Gilani pulled out the wand. The handle of the wand was surrounded by gold and had dark red rust on it. "Is it used for this?"

"Yes."

Ian concentrated and sensed a magic power extending from Gilani's wand to the silver piece.

"Aivaz." Gilani chanted, and the wand passed across a leaf, and the runes "?4?5" were engraved on it.

"Do you understand?"

"I think I know," Ian mused, "the traces of magic..."

Taking out his yew wand, Ian imitated Gilani's movements: "...Aiwaz!"

"?4?5" is carved in the same way, and the traces should be slightly shallower.

After pondering for a while, Ian carved the same runes on the third petal. This time, the appearance was almost different from Gilani's.

"What do you want to do, Ian?"

"Just a bell and a small bead." Ian looked at his results with satisfaction.

"By the way, the gold jewelry on your wand needs to be cleaned. Do you want me to send you a bottle of cleaner?"

"Sharp-eyed boy," Gilani turned around, "I remember there is a chain in the drawer of my office. Let me wear it with you."

Ian quickly formed a small silver bead and thought about what to engrave on it.

The notebook stirred.

Ian noticed something: "What, brother, can you give me some advice?"

Blinking, flipping over the notebook, it seemed like I didn’t know what to give.

"Well, now that I have 'protection', can you let me learn something powerful?" Ian requested.

The notebook turned a little slower, and finally stopped on a page. Two patterns appeared vaguely, and they were vague and unclear.

Ian saw that one of them looked like Lei Zuba, but he didn't recognize the other. After looking at it carefully, Lei Zuba disappeared, leaving only another pattern that became clearer and clearer.

It is the word "Thunder", surrounded by a large circle and five small circles in between.

The key points for writing this mantra appear below.

It is difficult to carve such a small rune on a small bead, so you have to be very careful.Fortunately, Ian learned the art of transfiguration and used magic power, so nothing went wrong.

By the time Gilani came back, Ian had already installed the beads.

The three-petal silver flower is closed, hiding the beads and runes inside. There is no mystery at all from the outside, it is just shiny and beautiful.

"Give."

Gilani handed over the chain. I don’t know what the chain was made of. It was small, but you could feel its weight when you held it.

"It can automatically adjust the length according to the owner's body shape, which is very convenient."

"Thank you, Professor Gilani," Ian joked, "I will bring cleaning detergent next time and give me a free wand maintenance."

"Go, go, I don't need it."

"How about the free wand repair service? I can help you change the gold circle into the silver you like, and I'll take the gold."

"Get out of here, kid."

Ian left the alchemy classroom satisfied.

The alchemy classroom was on the third floor. Ian walked upstairs and decided to have an adventure in the garbage dump in the Room of Requirement.

Maybe you can find something good!

Just walking to the fourth floor, he found a figure he was paying close attention to.

"Good afternoon, Professor Quirrell!"

"Good afternoon, Mr. Heseltine." Quirrell stammered as if he was startled.

"Professor Quirrell, what are you doing here?"

"I, I'm going back to my office." He said hurriedly, stuttering even more, "What about you? What are you doing here?"

The Defense Against the Dark Arts professor's office is on the third floor, and the classroom is on the fourth floor.Although it was possible, Ian bet that he was not in the classroom before, but came to visit Lu Wei.

"Oh, someone told me there is a secret passage near here. I'm here to look for it. Professor Quirrell, do you know where it is?"

"Ah, behind the statue of the one-eyed witch," Quirrell pointed, "You can, go and have a look."

Ian blinked, did Quirrell know what he was talking about?

So he pushed further: "Professor Quirrell, can you tell me where it went?"

"Hogg, Maud."

Ian was surprised, you know you still say?Professor, you are helping a first-year student break school rules! You have to show off anyway!

"Oh, I'm going to explore!" Ian said enthusiastically, "Goodbye, Professor Quirrell, thank you."

"Goodbye," Quirrell waved his hand with a stiff smile, "The spell is 'separate left and right'."

"thank you very much!"

Weird, weird everywhere.

What is Quirrell doing? You don’t have to do this if you want to kill yourself quickly, right?

Ian was lost in thought.Sure enough, if the head is not yours, you will become mentally retarded, right?
