Magical Studies at Hogwarts

Chapter 296 Past events (1)

"Sour popping candy!"

Harry read the command, and the stone monster in front of the principal's office jumped aside. The wall behind it cracked, revealing a spiral staircase.Harry stepped up and up the stairs until he appeared in front of a door with a brass knocker.

He knocked, and Dumbledore's voice came from behind the door.

"Please come in."

"Good evening, sir." Harry opened the door and said hello to Dumbledore who was sitting behind the table.

"Good evening, Harry." Dumbledore replied with a smile, "You've had a good week, you seem to be very busy, and you even got a confinement for yourself... However, it's later than when you were in second grade. A lot."

Seeing the confusion on Harry's face, he waved his hand and said, "Don't worry, I have already agreed with Snape that your confinement will be moved to next Saturday."

"Okay." Harry replied casually. As Gryffindor's main confinement master, being locked up by Snape had happened countless times in the past. He didn't take it to heart at all. All he thought about was what Dumbledore was going to teach him.

Maybe...a powerful magic?

"I think you must be wondering, how am I going to teach you?" Dumbledore asked, pushing up the glasses on the bridge of his nose.

"Yes, sir."

"Actually, it's more of a teaching than a class. What I want to teach you and tell you is not only magic, but also many things in the past."

"I feel like after all you've been through, you can already tell some truth."

"The truth? Sir, I don't understand." Harry looked at Dumbledore in confusion, his mind already a little confused.

Dumbledore paused, as if he was trying to organize his words. After a moment of silence, he continued: "At the end of last semester, after you came back from the Ministry of Magic, I promised you to tell you everything."

"Yes, but there seems to be a lot I don't know," Harry said.

"This is normal. No one can know all the truth. That is unrealistic. Moreover, I did tell you everything I knew at the time." Dumbledore said calmly, "Now, I I want to go through the fog shrouding the truth with you."

"It's a very difficult thing, especially since I have proven to you that I will make mistakes like ordinary people. I can't guarantee that I won't make mistakes during the rest of the journey... So, I need you, Harry."

"What can I do, sir?"

"Many, many." Dumbledore said and stood up, beckoning Harry to something he was very familiar with - the Pensieve. He also took out a small bottle from his pocket, and something was flashing inside. Shining silvery white light.

Harry knew very well that it was a memory.

"You have a very keen intuition. There are some things I need your intuition to give an answer from another angle. This is very helpful for us to find the truth."

He paused and then said: "Remember what I told you at the end of last semester, the prophecy and the secret of Voldemort's immortality?"

"Remember, sir," Harry said, "Horcruxes, a very evil form of dark magic."

"That's right." Dumbledore nodded, "That is what Voldemort can rely on to make a comeback, and it is also the only way for us to completely eliminate him."

"So, are we going to look for clues about the Horcrux next?"

"You can say that." Dumbledore nodded, then poured the memory in the bottle into the pensieve, and stretched out his hand for Harry to take.

"We can see it with our own eyes. This is the memory I finally got..."

With that said, they dived into that memory.

After a period of dizziness similar to that of the Apparition, Harry found that they were standing on a country road.

There were tall hedgerows on both sides of the road, and the scorching sun was shining overhead. Not far in front of them stood a short, fat man, carefully reading the road signs.

"Who is that?" Harry asked quietly.

"Bob Ogden used to work in the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Here are his memories." Dumbledore also lowered his voice, "Follow closely and keep reading..."

They followed Ogden and continued along the path. After a steep descent, a very majestic house in the valley appeared in front of them.

Harry thought that was the house they were going to, but Ogden in front of him ran down the hillside, turned directly to a side road, and entered a dark woods.

After walking for a while in the woods, Ogden finally stopped and pulled out his wand.Harry and Dumbledore also stopped and followed cautiously. After walking for a while, I saw a strange, dilapidated house hidden behind dense woods.

Ogden was very cautious and slowly came to the door of the house. He stopped again and looked straight at the dead snake nailed to the front door.

Just when Harry was wondering who nailed the dead snake to the door, a man suddenly jumped down from a nearby tree and landed right in front of Ogden.Ogden quickly stepped back, but accidentally stepped on the hem of his own clothes, staggered and almost fell.

"You are not welcome here." The man who jumped down said coldly.

"I'm from the Ministry of Magic..." Ogden stumbled back.

"I told you, you are not welcome here!"

"Sorry...I don't understand what you are talking about..."

Hearing this, Harry realized that the person who jumped down was actually speaking snake language.Just as he was about to confirm with Dumbledore, he saw the man who jumped down launched an attack on Ogden. A smelly, yellow liquid sprayed directly into Ogden's face, scaring him so much that he immediately fell to the ground.

"Morfin!"

An older man pushed open the door and hurried out. He looked down at Ogden who was lying on the ground and asked, "Is he from the ministry?"

"Exactly." Ogden got up from the ground in embarrassment and asked angrily, "I think you are Mr. Gunter?"

"That's right." Gunter said, and then said to Morfin next to him, "Go into the room and don't talk!"

Morfin still wanted to say a few words of defense, but after receiving a fierce look from Gunter, he obediently returned to the house and closed the door forcefully.

"I came here to meet your son, Mr. Gaunt." Ogden straightened his messy clothes and said, "That was Morfin just now."

"Yes, that's Morfin." Gunter was a little casual, but he became aggressive again in an instant.

"Are you a pureblood?"

"This has nothing to do with what happened today!" Ogden replied coldly, as if he was greatly offended. But this tone obviously made Gunter confirm his identity.

"No wonder, I just said that your eyes and nose look familiar."

Gunter's tone was very offensive, and his arrogant expression made Harry want to punch him hard.

This is simply a guy even more annoying than Malfoy!
