Magical Studies at Hogwarts
Chapter 18 "Book of Spells" and "Standard Spells"
Hogwarts is quiet at night, and it feels like a ghostly castle in a horror movie.
However, it just seemed like there was no one around.
All the school rules of Hogwarts are useless in many cases. As long as you are capable enough and do things that are out of line without being discovered or caught, then all the school rules are just a piece of paper and have no effect.
This is especially true with curfews and forest bans.
Although Dumbledore would emphasize this at the opening dinner every year, unfortunately almost all senior students violated these two rules.
Ike could clearly feel that at the door of an abandoned classroom near the corner of the stairs on the fifth floor, there were two students standing close together who didn't know what they were doing.
They were not very skilled in the Disguise Spell. When Ike went downstairs, he glanced casually and noticed the strange magic fluctuations there.
"It seems that it is not even at Lv1 level."
Ignoring this pair of guys who didn't know whether they were specialties of the corrupt country or whether opposites attracted each other, Ike came to the library cautiously.
The library door was closed at night, but not locked. It opened with a gentle push.
He closed the door with his backhand and went straight to the entrance of the forbidden book area.Although it was locked, it was no different from being unlocked. It opened with a lock-picking spell.
"As long as I don't get caught, nothing will happen."
Ike secretly complained, gaining a deeper understanding of Hogwarts school rules.
Unlike the books outside the door for students to browse at will, Ike felt a faint chill as soon as he stepped through the door of the restricted book area.
"Content not suitable for young students to read", this description can summarize all the books in the restricted area.
But pay attention to the important points: unsuitable and young.
Some contents are indeed dangerous, such as books related to black magic. Most of those books have been cast with vicious and sinister magic. Even if people who don’t know why pick them up, they may be bitten, cursed, and souls are not limited to them. Injuries in the form of impacts are mostly similar to forbidden blood fusion, vicious curses, cultivation of evil magical creatures, and sacrificial rituals.
These are obviously not suitable for young wizards with low magic level and low magic knowledge.
On the other hand, if you are a wizard with high magic level, magic knowledge and magic control, there will be no big problem in reading.
Ike carefully looked at the banned books on the bookshelf, ignoring the blood-colored books with unknown leather covers and those with barely audible whispers. He did not dare to touch those books yet.
Others who were still struggling while being chained walked around and walked away.
After searching for a while, Ike found what he was looking for on an ordinary-looking bookshelf.
Miranda Gorshak's Book of Spells and the complete, unabridged version of Standard Spells.
"The Book of Spells" is the first spell textbook created by Miranda Gorshak. Once it was published, it was translated into 72 languages, including goblins and mermaids, and is used by all magic schools around the world.
However, it caused a lot of controversy because it contained some curses.Although Miranda Gorshak believes that using moderately offensive spells can prevent students from resolving disputes by using more dangerous spells, this obviously does not satisfy skeptics and opponents. So I don’t know since when, the "Book of Spells" has been placed in the forbidden book area.
Unfortunately, "locking" the "Book of Spells" cannot prevent the spread of curses among young wizards.
"Standard Spells" is a textbook specially written by Miranda for young wizards to learn spells after the "Book of Spells" was boycotted, based on her experience when she was studying at Hogwarts.Compared with the "Book of Spells", "Standard Spells" has more spells and the explanations are more detailed.
However, the first edition of "Standard Spells" still contained many mischief spells and even offensive spells that could cause serious harm, which also caused "Standard Spells" to follow in the footsteps of the "Book of Spells".
As for the subsequent series of teaching materials, they were the product of deleting jinxes and offensive spells. Some difficult spells were also removed.
Like the Patronus Charm.
Whether in the "Book of Spells" or the complete and unabridged version of "Standard Spells", there is a Patronus Charm.
Putting the two books in his robe and hugging them, and locking the door to the restricted book area, Ike quietly walked towards Ravenclaw Tower.
Hogwarts is almost as lively at night as it is during the day, and troublemakers love to cause trouble for the castle caretaker.Peeves likes to add more work to Filch and Mrs. Norris, and the Weasley twins in Gryffindor are the best among them.
Ike didn't want to bet on whether the Christmas dinner would make the troublemakers give up their battle plan tonight, or maybe they would go back much faster because of their subconscious guilt after doing bad things.
After observing the Ravenclaw door for a while, Ike gently knocked on the door knocker after confirming that nothing was abnormal.
“Where does the afternoon arrive before the morning?”
"In the dictionary."
"Good answer."
The bronze door knocker finished speaking in a muffled voice and opened the door panel, revealing the archway leading to the common room.Ike maintained the illusion spell and walked straight through the lounge back to the dormitory.
Put your loot under your pillow and go straight to bed.
When I woke up the next morning, it was almost noon.Stuart and Terry didn't know where they went to play again. Ike didn't investigate. After washing briefly, he carried two books and came to the portrait of the troll beating the stupid Barnabas.
After walking back and forth three times, meditating on a room dedicated to Ike Strider of Ravenclaw, a gorgeous door appeared on the wall as Ike expected.
Pushing the door open, you will find a room that looks very similar to the Ravenclaw common room.It was very spacious. Opposite the door was a fireplace with a fire burning. There was a row of letters glowing with soft white light on the fireplace, spelling out Ike's name. There is a single sofa on the left side of the fireplace. The floor is covered with a Ravenclaw blue carpet. There is a wooden coffee table above the eagle embroidery in the center of the carpet.
Behind the sofa is a potion workbench, complete with potion tools such as crucibles, chopping boards, knives, rollers, spoons, etc. There is also a cabinet next to it, but there is no potion material in it.There is a desk on the other side of the wall, similar to the one in Ike's dormitory. It is flanked by two rows of bookshelves. In addition to the books that Ike owns and has spent, it also includes books unique to the Room of Requirement. Hundreds of books, such as "Self-Defense Spells", "Smarting the Dark Arts" and "Common Spells and Unspells", etc.
Sitting on the sofa, putting "Standard Spells" on the coffee table, Ike opened the "Book of Spells".Most of the magic spells in it, Ikko, have reached Level 6. I have roughly looked at the remaining magic spells. Mischief spells such as the Bat Spirit Curse, the Incisor Matching Stick, and the Dancing Curse are not complicated. Some Ikko has already studied them. It has passed, but it has not been used, so there is no level display on the waste notepad system.
After flipping through it, there was only one spell left, which happened to be Ike’s goal of sneaking into the forbidden book area:
One of the oldest and most powerful defensive magics - the Patronus Charm!
