The Daily Life of a Hogwarts Warfare Professor

Chapter 6 A pleasant shopping trip in Diagon Alley

After saying goodbye to Mag Cat, Victor walked back to the cabin. The family was waiting for him inside by the fireplace in the living room.

Victor had warned many times not to light the fireplace in the summer because it would be too hot. There was no need to light the fireplace with floo powder.

The response I got was just "that's what traditional British Muggles do, and we have to stick our heads into the fire from time to time so we can teleport our heads to Diagon Alley and bargain with those shady merchants."

Eisner Sr. gave Victor a sweaty hug.

"You finally found a job, right? I'm proud of you. You know I've been worried. Ever since you applied for the gap at Cambridge Muggle University, I thought you would spend your whole life sitting at home studying your card game."

"Your mother must also be very happy. You can write a letter and send it to France by owl. Remember to seal it with a kiss. She always complains that we don't understand romance as well as the French."

Victor hadn't fully digested the surprise, so he also gave a big hug to the father he had been living with since time travel.

In Victor's life before time travel, he only had an alcoholic gambler father who raised him. After coming to the magical world, he felt for the first time in a long time how happy it is to share emotions with someone he trusts.

"Dad, I think I need some money to buy my entry-level equipment."

"No, you don't need to. Just bring some clothes. The white plain uniform you wore when you were at Hogwarts is very nice. It looks very distinctive among a bunch of dark little wizards. Others, You know, the family farm business has been difficult..."

Victor withdrew the hug.

After a lot of hard work, Victor threatened to tell his mother in France by writing a letter, and finally got old Eisner to relent.

He allowed Victor to harvest the bubble pods grown on the farm, sell them at the herb market in Diagon Alley, and give all the money to Victor himself.

“Don’t be too stunned, raise the price when it’s time to sell.

"Don't you have a card? A good luck owl or something. Use it before negotiating the price with the herbal shop. Maybe the businessmen will be kind enough to buy our pods at a high price."

Old Eisner came up with the idea.

"You mean this white owl tells luck?"

Victor took out a card from his thin coat.

The card shows a white owl with golden ear tufts. The small print annotation was translated by Victor as "good luck".

The effect of this card is equivalent to the elixir, but the power of ancient Egyptian magic is unexpected. Basically, the Pharaoh card is slightly more effective than spells or potions of the same level.

And this premium card is not a one-time use, well, it can probably be used two or three times.

"Yes, this is it. Compared with your pile of cards with unknown meanings, this is the prophecy card that is really useful.

"What did you predict that made the Pyramid Necklace spit out this card? Next time, if you predict a few more times, give me one too."

Eisner Sr. had long wanted to tell the lucky white owl that if his son gave him one he would immediately use it to buy lottery tickets.

Victor carefully put the Pharaoh card into his arms.

"It's hard to get. I've predicted the fortunes of many Muggles for the day, and all I got was crappy cards like Warning Points, Painters of Pain, and Smile Potions."

"But I predicted a particularly lucky person two days ago. This rare card from the Millennium Bricks shows that he is the luckiest child in the world today."

Victor smiled slyly and mischievously.

"I tried to use this card when I got up this morning, and when I was eating breakfast, I saw Professor McGonagall squatting outside the farm."

"Wow," Old Eisner said sadly, "It seems that you were hired because of that little boy's luck. Victor, when you get to Hogwarts, you have to rely on your strength to stand out."

Victor walked out of the cabin in a happy mood and went to the farm.

As Dad said, the bubble pods in a field have matured. The pods are very lively and the force of spraying the beans is also quite amazing. They must be high-quality seedlings to be used as pea shooters.

He bent down and harvested like a Muggle. This is the agreement he made with his family, and he will act like an authentic farmer in the Muggle world.

Moreover, labor is good for the body and spirit. Many wizards become lazy because they rely too much on the power of magic.

After harvesting a large bag of bubble pods, Victor returned to the wooden house, stood in the luxurious fireplace that was incompatible with the wooden house, and used Floo powder to teleport to Diagon Alley.

-----

haven't seen you for a long time! This rich magic market atmosphere!

No matter how many times you come, Diagon Alley always feels fresh.

Victor walked among the shops and was amazed when he passed the Nimbus 2000 cabinet. He stopped for a long time in front of a small shop selling dragon whiskers (real dragon whiskers).

Along the way, I greeted the wizard friends I met in a familiar manner.

When he came to Yanit's herbal shop, Victor put a bag of bubble pods on the counter and used all his praises to boast about the excellent quality of the pure natural pods from his own farm.

Watch them shoot out beans as soon as they hit the ground, which will surely interest any greedy kid who wants to play a prank on them or a mean-spirited Potions Master.

After a game, Victor walked out of the herbal shop with fourteen gold galleons and eight silver coxi.

It's a small fortune anyway.Victor held the coins in his hands and wondered whether the salary at Hogwarts would allow him to become well-off.

After walking around two corners, Victor stood in front of Ollivander's wand shop.

Pushing open the door of the small and shabby wand shop, Victor sat on the waiting chair.

Thousands of wand products are piled up in a mess in the store under the boss's management, quite like the boss's style.

"Hey, Mr. Eisner, see you again! Is the applewood wand you bought a month ago broken again?

"What bad luck! Although a shop will be very fond of those customers who come often, but the speed at which you replace your wands makes me think that there is a quality control problem at Ollivander's Wand Shop."

Victor complimented his boss:

"The wand's magic power and affordability are perfect. It's just that ancient Egyptian magic is too finicky. You know, no wand can conduct it well. It won't break after being used for many times."

Ollivander took out a bunch of boxes and asked Victor to try them one by one.

Since he is a regular customer, there is no need to take measurements. The boss accurately remembers Victor’s every wand preference and physical parameters.

For example, Victor is a left-handed wizard. He can use magic equally well with his left and right hands, so there is no need to consider his dominant hand when choosing a wand.

For another example, the ancient Egyptian magic commonly used by Victor can attract most of the wands, but after being attracted, these wands cannot well meet the needs of ancient Egyptian magic.

So often Victor quickly picked a wand that he thought was a good match, only to have it break a few months later.

"Try this one, made of northern larch wood and phoenix feathers, nine inches, built to last. I added a bit of an eagle's talon to it when I made it.

"After all, you are a customer with special needs. Please believe me, the little wand shop will one day make wands suitable for ancient Egyptian magic."

Ollivander loves a challenge, which is why Victor keeps ordering from this little store.

He waved his new wand, and he had no problem casting ordinary magic. The most important thing is...

Victor brought the wand close to the Millennium Brick hanging on his chest. When he was almost four inches away from it, the wand had some good reactions.

It looks like this one will last a while longer.

Victor happily paid eight Galleons, which was a little more custom processing fee than an ordinary wand.

Ollivander didn't smile happily.

In view of the friendship between the picky old customer and the challenging Elder Wand maker, Ollivander proposed that if Victor could divine one thing correctly, he would spare a galleung for it.

Victor rolled his eyes.If it was just ordinary divination, he wouldn't need a thousand-year building block to do it.But you need to use some tools, such as a crystal ball or black tea...

"Today, the famous Mr. Harry Potter came to buy his first wand in his life. He is also a picky owner!

"And the wand he chose in the end, oh, so wonderful! Mr. Eisner, guess which one he took away in the end?"

Oh, Victor doesn't need any tools. He can answer this question easily.
