Chapter 14 Efforts for the plot

"Do you think this is fun?" Hermione bared her teeth like a beaver. "Thankfully I still think you are a kind-hearted person!"

Justin's face was also complicated. He said in a dumbfounded way: "Brother, you really fooled me. You made those words up as if they were true. I don't think this is good."

"That's right, Justin." Hermione said angrily, "Ryan, if you don't give me a reasonable explanation, I will never talk to you again."

After saying that, she turned her head away from Ryan and only moved her ears, as if waiting for Ryan's words.

"I... I just don't want to see you two angry with each other..." Ryan's voice dropped, as if he was very disappointed, "I just picked a random topic... I'm sorry, I didn't think carefully..."

Hearing this, Justin patted Ryan's arm movedly, and Hermione accepted his statement, but still pouted angrily.

"Then you shouldn't make up such a terrible lie!" Hermione frowned, "Lying is wrong! Even if you have a good heart, you can't do it this way."

"I'm sorry, Hermione." The guilt on Ryan's face was more real than gold. "Actually, I just want to make up a story to tell you that each college has its own characteristics, and there is no need to be too biased. Hufflepuff is no worse than other houses."

"Okay, I apologize for what I said before. Hufflepuff is as good as Gryffindor." Hermione said a little coyly.

The cheerful atmosphere in the cubicle returned to the previous one, but the aftermath of the little conflict still lingered.Justin and Ryan became brothers, but the relationship between Hermione and the two boys became slightly alienated.

After all, she and Justin were not familiar, and the natural contradiction between academic masters and ordinary people made the initial conversation not pleasant. Even after Ryan's "mediation", they could only become ordinary friends at best.

As for Ryan, Hermione was angry but unable to get angry due to her flirtatious behavior. She also felt a little guilty and didn't know how to communicate.

This is the ideal state of getting along with Hermione in Ryan's mind.He didn't want to get into trouble with Hermione, but he didn't want to get involved in the iron triangle, so this "not yet full of close friends" state was the best. After being sorted into Hufflepuff, he was at best "Miss Know-It-All's Muggle wizard friend in other houses", and his safety was guaranteed.

While they were talking, the train finally started moving and pulled out of the dim station. The sudden bright light made Ryan squint his eyes. He looked at the city getting further and further away, with houses, fields and pastures passing by outside the car window.

The three of them chatted happily for a while and then started doing their own things again: Justin continued to maintain his wand; Hermione picked up the book seriously; Ryan, after being in a daze for a while, took out his secret notebook to write. Start writing and drawing.

Near 12:30, the flight attendant pushed a cart to the compartment to sell snacks. The three little Muggle wizards were not short of money. Each of them paid 5 Sickles and bought some snacks of various categories.

Ryan ate half a cake and a pie to fill his stomach, then slowly licked the licorice wand, watching with interest Justin and Hermione tasting the weird food.

"Oh, damn." Justin's little face wrinkled up, "This multi-flavor bean is lemon-flavored, so sour."

Hermione was eating a chocolate frog, and the frog legs in her mouth were still twitching as she chewed, which made her a little nauseous, but the sweet taste made her want to stop.

"The food of wizards is so fascinating." The little girl opened another pack of chocolate frogs and took out a card. "Oh, this time the person in the picture is Dumbledore."

Compared to Muggles, wizards are half a step ahead in terms of appetite. The existence of house elves and magic has finally managed to offset the gastronomic curse hanging over England.

But Ryan was not satisfied. In Ryan's opinion, the wizards' delicacies were only delicious, and were still more than a dozen levels short of luminous cuisine.

While he was thinking about how to get a house elf, he introduced various delicacies from all over the country to two ignorant British children.

"... Coated with bread crumbs, deep fried until golden brown on both sides, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, crispy and delicious."

Gudong, Hermione and Justin swallowed, suddenly feeling that the snacks in their hands no longer tasted good.

"You're lying to us again, aren't you?" Hermione felt that Ryan's mouth was so powerful that everything he said seemed to be true.

"I don't intend to make fun of food." Ryan looked serious. "Let me tell you another secret. Hufflepuff is a gourmet, so every Hufflepuff student can enter the kitchen. Justin, don't use that kind of food." Look at me with distrustful eyes, as long as you are willing, I can take you to the kitchen at any time and make some food by yourself."

"Then it's settled!" Justin's eyes and corners of his mouth were bright.

Hermione looked at Ryan expectantly, but no matter how she hinted, Ryan just refused to invite her to the kitchen. This made her very unhappy, so she picked up the book and turned it over vigorously.

Even Justin saw something was wrong. He quietly kicked Ryan's feet and winked several times, but Ryan didn't seem to notice.

"Ahem, Ryan, I think we can invite Granger to join us..."

"I don't need it!" Hermione raised the book higher to cover her face, with a hint of nasal sound in her words, "Because I said something bad about Hufflepuff!"

Justin quickly poked Ryan, he couldn't handle this kind of trouble.

"Sorry, Hermione, I didn't mean to exclude you." Ryan sighed, "I didn't mean to blame you either."

"You obviously have."

"No, Hermione, I will always be your best friend."

This made Hermione feel better.

Ryan continued: "I don't invite you because each house has its own 'position'. I believe you will become an excellent Gryffindor, and you also need to learn to defend the 'position' of your own house.

"If I want to sneak into your Gryffindor territory quietly, you will definitely stop me out of principle, right?"

"Hmph, of course."

Hermione finally put the book down.

Justin looked at the two of them strangely. He instinctively felt that Ryan had lied again, but the clever Granger foolishly believed it.

Of course Ryan lied. He had only one reason to stop Hermione, and that was to prevent her from coming into contact with house elves prematurely, which might cause a world line jump.

Ryan has already figured out the three tricks to deal with Hermione - "Friends", "You are so awesome", and "Rules".

Justin was not going to point out the mystery, and he was determined to build a good relationship with Ryan so that he could ask for some "smart tricks" in the future.

When they had almost finished eating their snacks, there was a knock on the compartment door.

A little boy with a round face came in and asked in a crying tone: "Have you seen my toad?"

"Sorry, I think we only have chocolate frogs here," Ryan replied. "We'll keep an eye out for you."

"Thank you, thank you." He whispered and left crying.

"It turns out that someone really keeps toads." Justin said, "I thought no one would like them."

"What's that?" Hermione looked disdainful, "I saw rats and crabs being sold in pet shops."

It's all food, Ryan complained. He really wanted to learn about the dark cuisine of the big foodie empire in a playful way.

But there were more important things for him to accomplish right now.

Ryan poked his head out of the compartment. People were coming and going in the corridor. Senior students were calling friends in the carriage. He also saw the Weasley brothers going around scaring people with big spiders.

Waiting for the round-faced boy to come out of the compartment at the back of the car, Ryan waved to him and said, "Have you found your toad?"

"No, I keep losing it, it's too bad," the little boy wailed.

"Oh, don't be sad." Justin comforted him, "That's just a toad. Do you want a chocolate frog? My name is Justin Finch-Fletchley, what's yours?"

"Thank you, thank you...I am Neville Longbottom..."

Neville took a chocolate frog from Justin's hand. He opened the package and ate it while sobbing, and finally stopped crying.
