Chapter 143 The Evil Bird (Modified)
They left the church under the leadership of Simon. The tall burning house in front of the church had turned into a pile of charred ruins.
The roof collapsed, and a gable collapsed outside it. In the distance and near, patches of burnt bushes looked like scars on the face.
In this calm weather, the black smoke is still rising slowly and straight. A large pile of burnt ash residue filled the gap beside the bare wall.
"God bless!" Simon kept crossing himself on his chest with pity in his eyes.
"Let's go!" Ian urged impatiently.
They were not moving fast, partly because they had to pass through narrow alleys, and partly because Simon kept looking back to talk to Jessica.
Alan thought he could understand. When a man has admiration for a woman, his steps must be slow and he can't help but move closer to her. This is exactly what Simon was doing at this time.
But Ian was obviously very impatient and kept urging. Alan suspected that if Simon procrastinated, Ian might lose control of himself and cast a curse on him.
Simon stopped in front of a house with snow-white walls and green shutters.
"Well, this is Mr. Bellatrix's house." Simon said, his tone full of regret.
The house in front of me looked very neat and comfortable in the midday sun. But all its doors and windows were shut, tightly shut.
Allen and the others walked around the house several times, but found no trace of the evil bird.
"It seems that we are going to break into a private house." Allen smiled and took out his wand.
"Uh, what are you going to do?" Under Simon's horrified eyes, with Alan's words "Open the Alaho Cave", the door opened quietly.
"Come in." Ian pushed Simon.
"This is wrong!" Simon resisted with all his body.
"Hurry up, or I'll put a curse on you." Ian insisted on being evil to the end, his cool expression revealing a hint of unbelievable ferocity.
Although Simon didn't know what the long wooden stick that Ian pointed at him was, it didn't stop him from realizing that it was a weapon. The boy who had a relatively mild temper just now used it to open the door.
Simon kept crossing himself on his chest and kept mumbling something, and followed Alan and the others into Mr. Bertrini's house.
Ian finally walked into the house. He turned back and closed the door again before stepping onto the stone-paved steps inside.
Before entering the room, Allen stopped everyone. Jessica and Ian looked at him puzzled, and even Simon, who was forced to enter, was also very confused.
"Soundless Curse." As soon as Allen mentioned his name, Jessica and Ian understood what he meant. The three of them cast a Silencing Curse on themselves. Alan kindly placed a Silencing Curse on Simon as well.
Simon suddenly felt that his world was silent, without a single sound. "What did you do to me? Why can't I hear anything?" He shouted in horror. But what made him even more desperate was that he couldn't hear the sound he made.
"Shut up, idiot!" Ian knew what Simon was shouting just by looking at him, but after he finished cursing, he remembered that Simon couldn't hear anything at this time.
Allen led everyone into a large room. He turned on the light switch and a large chandelier hanging from the roof instantly gave off a warm yellow light, illuminating the room.
There was almost no furniture in the room: just a few golden plates displayed in the closet, a few large books, and a complete suit of armor standing between two windows.
There are also some exquisite tapestry paintings hanging on the walls. One is embroidered with Jesus being crucified, and the other is embroidered with a scene of shepherd boys and shepherds beside a stream.
The layout of the room is concise but not simple. From this carefully decorated room, it can be seen that the owner is a person who loves life and has artistic taste.
It was difficult for Allen to reconcile the crazy family he had just seen in the church with the owner of this house.
"May the Lord bless Mr. Bertrini and his family, and may the Lord bless Miss Angel and I to get rid of these two devils as soon as possible!" Simon prayed for Mr. Bertrini and his miserable self in front of the tapestry embroidered with Jesus.
The three Allens had already started searching the room. Since no one else went crazy, it meant that the evil bird had either flown further away, or it might still be staying in this room. Given how heavy the snowstorm was last night and how cold it was this morning, there was a high chance that the bad bird was still in this room.
The three people carefully inspected every corner of the house, but unfortunately they could not find any trace of the evil bird.
Jessica walked to the window, opened the heavy curtains, and shook her head. The evil bird was not here either.
But her actions gave Ian inspiration. Ian pointed to the painting hanging on the wall and signaled Alan and Jessica to pay attention. Then, like a cat, he cautiously approached the mural and gently lifted the embroidered piece. Behind the mural of a shepherd boy and a shepherd girl is a hole in the wall.
There was an iron box placed in the wall hole, but Allen was not interested in looking at the contents. If it were his Sniff, he might be very enthusiastic about it.
Allen gently and quietly returned the mural to its original position, and then moved to another tapestry embroidered with Jesus.
Just as he opened the corner of the painting, a shining pink bird flew out of the sky. Jessica and Ian responded quickly and worked well together. Jessica conjured a net to trap the evil bird tightly, and Ian's flying spell successfully caused the bound evil bird to fly into his hand.
"Great job!" Allen praised loudly, but still couldn't hear anything.
"Well, let me think about it." Allen waved his wand, cast a curse on the evil bird in Ian's hand so that its beaks could be completely closed together, and then lifted the Silence Curse on everyone.
Simon found that he could hear the voice again, "Are you just looking for the devil bird? Who are you?" He stared at the evil bird in Ian's hand. Who can control the devil's pet?
"Wizards and witches! I told you a long time ago!" Ian felt much better after finding the evil bird.
"Let's get out of here." Having achieved their goal, Allen felt that they should leave here as soon as possible.
The four people quickly evacuated and walked to an alley near the house.
"Gentlemen and ladies, if it's still too late for you to repent now." Simon still had concerns about breaking into Bertrini's house privately.
"I think our venerable priest's magic experience can end here." Allen praised Simon's courage, but it was better to cast a forgetting spell on him as soon as possible to avoid long nights and dreams.
