Hogwarts from another world

Chapter 6 The Book of Mysteries

There is no doubt that the bespectacled witch in "The Magical Zoo" was right.

The toad Matthew bought was noisier than he imagined; its screams had hardly stopped since returning to Room 13 of the Leaky Cauldron.

This situation makes it almost impossible to stay in the room.

Finally, Matthew figured out a way to hang the glass box containing the toad on the balcony of the room, then closed the window, and the whole world suddenly became quiet.

It was almost noon, so he walked out of the room and went downstairs to have a simple lunch.

But obviously this lunch was not a pleasant one, because next to him came a strange man who was almost completely wrapped in a thick woolen coat. You know it is August now. Judging from his appearance, he looked like an "old man". Witch".

The "old witch" ordered a plate of bloody pork liver, then opened her mouth wide and gnawed it with relish in front of Matthew.

Fortunately, Matthew's mental quality has always been good and he did not vomit out what he had eaten. He even finished a baked potato in front of the other party.

Climbing up the dirty and old wooden stairs again, Matthew took a look at the other rooms on the second floor.

Besides him, there seemed to be several children about his age living on this floor.

They should all be the same as him, first-year Hogwarts students born from Muggles.

But Matthew was in no hurry to "get to know" them. He went straight back to his room.

After returning to the room, Matthew first sorted out all the things he bought this morning and put them into categories.

Then, he took out the entire carton of magic textbooks given to him by Flourish and Blotts Bookstore and moved it to the wooden table.

Tear open the seal above and take out the Hogwarts textbooks inside one by one.

Standard Spells Level 1 Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration Black Arts Self-Defense Guide

These textbooks are very similar to the contents of the original Harry Potter books that I remember.

There are also four quills, two bottles of black ink, and a bottle of red ink, and a large stack of letter paper.

Suddenly, Matthew Wakefield's movements stopped.

Because he found that at the bottom of the carton, there was something

Another book.

It is not too thick, and the cover is definitely no more than half an inch. Note: It is about 1.77cm, which is much thinner than any previous Hogwarts textbook.

The appearance of the book shows a simple texture, and the paper is slightly yellowed from the side, which is probably from its age.

The front and back covers are made of a strange kind of leather, which makes people look a little creepy.

The whole book, for some reason, gives people an indescribable feeling.

Matthew was stunned. His intuition told him that the thing in front of him might be dangerous.

"What the hell is this?" He frowned and withdrew his hand that was frozen in mid-air.

He reached into his pocket and took out the crumpled parchment list from before.

I carefully compared what was written on the list with what I just took out of the carton.

It’s true that the strange book on the bottom of the box is not on the list; that is, it shouldn’t be there at all.

Matthew didn't act rashly, he didn't even take the initiative to touch this book of unknown origin, because he didn't forget that he was now in a magical world.

Even an ordinary diary may contain the consciousness of a powerful dark wizard, enough to control the wizard who tries to use it, not to mention the mysterious book in front of him, which seems to have the word "danger" written all over his face.

Matthew took a deep breath and finally decided to make a more prudent choice.

He gently rang the butler's bell in the room.

A minute later, the door to the room was knocked and then opened.

A hunchbacked figure appeared at the door of the room. It was the bar owner Tom, who was skinny and with all his teeth missing.

"Mr. Wakefield, do you have any instructions?" he asked with a grin, although his smile was quite ugly.

"Excuse me, sir." Matthew said, "Can you help me throw this cardboard box and the contents into the trash can?"

He pointed to the cardboard box with the Flourishes and Blotts logo painted on it.

"Happy to serve you," said the bartender.

He walked into the room and picked up the carton.

Watching the hunchbacked old man take the cardboard box and the contents out of the room, and then walk down the stairs.

Matthew suddenly felt relaxed, as if some fatal danger was far away from him.

In the afternoon and evening, Matthew was in his room, looking through the Hogwarts textbooks.

Although since I don’t have a magic wand on hand, I can only talk about it on paper and cannot put it into practice at all.

But even with a cursory glance, some clues can be seen.

Magic is not what I imagined before. It only requires a few silly wavings of the wand and shouting a few words in Latin.

It also involves control of emotions, mastery of subjective awareness, and complex gestures that change according to different situations

All in all, it is much more difficult to master a magic skillfully than Muggles in previous lives imagined.

It wasn't until the midnight bell struck eleven that Matthew put down the book of Thousands of Miraculous Herbs and Mushrooms in his hand.

It's time to take a break.

But before turning off the lights before going to sleep, Matthew remembered something.

That is his new pet, the toad he just bought this morning, and he is still hanging it on the balcony outside the window.

It's time to take it back.

Speaking of which, he hadn't even given the pet a name yet. Why don't he just name it "Excited" because it screamed so happily earlier.

While thinking randomly, Matthew smiled, opened the window, and took back the small glass box hanging on the balcony.

The scream of the toad no longer comes to mind. It seems that the little guy may have adapted to the environment here.

The pale green firelight of the fireplace slightly illuminated the small glass box held in Matthew's hand.

The smile on the boy's face froze in an instant.

The poor toad didn't scream, and he never would scream again.

It lay flat in the glass box, its white belly facing the sky, and its dark eye sockets formed two huge bulges.

No more movement, no more chirping, no life.

Obviously, it has been dead for a long time.

"How could it be possible?" Matthew murmured to himself. What surprised him most was not the death of the toad;

Just under the toad's body, he saw a book.

A book that could hardly exist inside this glass box.

He appeared inexplicably at the bottom of the carton at Flourish and Blotts Bookstore, and asked the bar owner Tom for the mysterious book that he had thrown away along with the carton.

The sky outside the window suddenly turned into a cold black gray; a ray of crimson moonlight shone through the window on the floor of Room 13 of the Leaky Cauldron.
