Hogwarts White Knight
Chapter 4 Scholarship
"I agree."
Contrary to Dumbledore's expectations, Gawain nodded sharply and agreed to enroll, which made several very convincing reasons he had prepared seem to hit the air.
"Mr. White, I'm glad you joined, but I want to know why you suddenly changed your mind?"
Dumbledore used his free left hand to put away his beard that had fallen on the table, sat up straight, and asked very seriously.
"Out of curiosity. I saw magic."
After thinking briefly, Gawain answered.
Intellectually speaking, this is indeed a "luxurious" path. It requires completely giving up the plans that were originally adhered to and investing in a completely unknown world, even without knowing the future.
He is not an opportunist, nor is he a fool who is so "naive" that he ignores the actual conditions like many of his peers.
But he was really curious.
Curiosity will kill the cat though.
But life without curiosity would be too boring.
"I'm a complete idealist, can't I? At worst, if I can't survive in the wizarding world, I'll let Colin take care of it. At most, I won't touch the collection in his wine cabinet."
Gawain made up his mind and would not waver again.
"Haha, hahaha, Mr. Gawain White, you are really an interesting little wizard."
As if he guessed what Gawain was thinking, Dumbledore laughed easily, even took out a piece of golden candy from the small bowl and swallowed it.
"As the letter said, the new semester starts on September st. I will ask Professor McGonagall to take you home later, and she will tell you how to go to Diagon Alley to buy things you need for school. So. ...Um, do you have any more questions?”
After Dumbledore finished speaking, he was about to get up and send Gawain away. Suddenly he saw Gawain still looking at him seriously. He couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable and asked softly.
But if Colin were here right now, he would just get up and send Gawain away without hesitation.
Because this look only means one thing.
——Rip-off.
"Mr. Dumbledore...Professor, I think we still have some room to discuss some policies regarding my admission to your school, right?
Or in more common terms...scholarships? "
Gawain's eyes flashed with a hint of cunning.
Colin has mastered this negotiation skill since he used his room to hide private money and "men's enjoyment products" when he was a child.
Through "frequent" practice and the study of some psychology-related information, he has been able to grasp the opponent's psychological bottom line more accurately.
"But the school's policy is to only provide financial support to students who are financially disadvantaged... Well, I guess we do have some aspects that we can explore?"
Dumbledore hesitated for a moment, but under Gawain's gaze, he sat back on the chair.
After all, he did have some shortcomings.
Although Gawain didn't know, and even if he knew, he couldn't pursue it, it doesn't mean that what he did was right.
After half an hour.
"Well, I think we'll stop here today, Mr. White. Professor McGonagall will take you home and help you and your parents explain all this."
Dumbledore rubbed his temple with his right hand and sighed, looking very tired.
"Okay, thank you for your understanding, Professor Dumbledore. See you after school starts."
Gawain stood up, bowed respectfully, turned around, and walked toward a lady in black robes with a serious expression who was waiting for him outside the door. Compared with when he came, he had an extra cloth bag in his hand, which was his trophy.
The pocket is quite big and heavy, requiring both hands to carry it.
The vaulted principal's office became calm again.
"Albus, why didn't you use that move just now? This outstanding performance is not like yours."
A somewhat oily man's voice suddenly sounded, with sarcasm in his words.
"Phineas, you may not believe it, but I have a feeling he will notice my gaze."
Dumbledore shook his head and said.
"How is that possible! Your photo...and when did you know about those Muggle things again?"
The man said in disbelief that although he didn't like Dumbledore, he was deeply convinced of his magical skills.
That was the most powerful white wizard in the world, even in recent hundreds of years, but his intentions were detected by a would-be wizard who had never learned magic for a day.
"I never knew, until just now."
Dumbledore hesitated for a moment before answering. He had never encountered such a contradictory situation.
Mingming's ideas were like blank sheets of paper that could be easily reviewed, and he did so.
But Dumbledore had such a ridiculous feeling that once the other party concentrated on thinking, his little movements would definitely be noticed.
"Not to mention there will be that kid this year... I hope it's not the wrong decision."
Dumbledore sighed again, raised the pink porcelain cup, and poured the already cold tea into his mouth.
While unnoticed conversations were taking place in the vaulted principal's office, Professor McGonagall had already left Hogwarts with Gawain and arrived at the door of his home.
"Mr. White, regarding your 'accident' yesterday, I had to process the memory of your parents. They will only remember that you were supposed to attend your birthday party, but you had to go to Hogwarts for a campus visit."
Professor McGonagall, whose full name is Minerva McGonagall, stood on the steps and said to Gawain with a serious expression.
"The wizarding world is much more dangerous than you think. A serious magic riot like yesterday, if I hadn't changed my mind and came here personally, might have endangered your life.
I hope, at least before school starts, you won't make such a dangerous attempt again. otherwise.."
She continued talking, as if she wanted to describe some tragedy to scare Gawain, but she couldn't bear to hurt a child's longing for magic.
But she quickly put her expression away and put the wand back into the pocket of her robe.
Regarding yesterday's accident, both she and Dumbledore explained it as a magical riot caused by Gawain's emotional excitement, which was a manifestation of his ability to become a wizard.
But Gawain is convinced that his "accident" yesterday was definitely not an unconscious riot.
He could clearly feel his own state, and it was a wonderful feeling like "time stopped".
"And that word, khronos... Cronus, Titan of Time..."
Gawain secretly guessed, but did not say it out loud. He just nodded seriously to show that he understood what Professor McGonagall meant.
"Are you ready? Then let's go in."
Professor McGonagall asked Gawain with an almost invisible smile.
She enjoys the process of introducing little wizards into the magical world, and seeing their surprised expressions and smiles gives her a real sense of satisfaction.
It's like seeing your past self.
