"In the 14th year of Xiantong, Li Wei passed away at the age of 41. His temple name was Yizong and he was buried in Jianling."

The Tang Dynasty was a very powerful dynasty in Chinese history, among which there were many sage monarchs, but today we are going to talk about a great faint monarch.

He has basically done no good deeds, and he is the one who extinguished the last glimmer of hope of the Tang Dynasty when the Tang Dynasty was already in decline.

He is the No.17 emperor of the Tang Dynasty, Tang Yizong Li Wei, the son of Tang Xuanzong Li Chen.

Tang Yizong's father, Tang Xuanzong, was a very holy monarch in the late Tang Dynasty.

He imitated Emperor Taizong of Tang Dynasty, handled political affairs clearly and decisively, and used it selflessly. He was a good emperor who could listen to advice, know people and make good use of them, and was frugal and caring for the people. He was called "Little Taizong".

At that time, although the Tang Dynasty could not be called a peaceful and prosperous age, it was relatively stable and comfortable, and it was known as the "Government of Dazhong" in history.

His evaluation of him in history is also very high, but he has made two huge mistakes in his life. The first is to pursue immortality, and he died after taking too many pills.

The second is that he was too hesitant to establish the crown prince, too late, and the crown prince was not established even after death.

Before he died, he entrusted Gu to the eunuchs Wang Guichang, Ma Gongru and others, which led to the eunuchs Wang Zongshi and Qi Yuan launching a coup and killing the entrusted eunuchs, and then proclaiming Yun Wang Li Wei as emperor.

So later Li Yu became Tang Yizong.

In fact, when Li Yu was still the king of Yun, he did not show that he was such a fatuous and incompetent person.

History judged that when he was young, he had a profound temperament and a majestic appearance.

But after Li Wei succeeded to the throne, he was completely uninterested in state affairs, and indulged in entertainment, banquets, singing and dancing every day.

In the palace, there is basically a banquet every day, and there will be a grand banquet every month, with delicious food and wine, rare treasures, and singing and dancing performances.

Tang Yizong listened to songs every day. He had about [-] musicians in his palace, and he had to take them with him when he went out for parades. He was very generous to the musicians and rewarded them with a lot of money.

And he often travels as soon as he talks, because it is too frequent, and the ministers at that time always have mounts ready for the emperor to call.

Every time Yizong travels, he will bring more than [-] people with him, and the expenses are too large to calculate.

Under his leadership, the officials are also like this, eating, drinking and having fun every day. For a long time, the national treasury has been short-lived and the atmosphere has been corrupted.

The appointment and demotion of officials is also according to his own wishes. Tang Yizong forbids an old minister who is sick and wants to retire, because the ministers can't handle things, and he can be lazy.

During his reign, he appointed 21 prime ministers successively. With such an emperor who ignores political affairs, the power of prime ministers and officials is relatively large.

Most of the officials don't care about anything, relying on their own power to amass money everywhere and act as a domineering power.

It was rare for a sober and virtuous official to advise him, but he was not willing to listen, so he demoted him, and later no one gave him advice.

Moreover, Tang Yizong is still a very vain person. He has no ability at all, but the title he gave himself is very long.

Twelve characters. Generally, the emperor of the Tang Dynasty gave himself four to six characters in his title. He really didn't have any self-knowledge.

Chapter 111 Tang Yizong Li Wei

Tang Yizong also corrupted the rules established by his ancestors, and he followed his own wishes in everything.

During Taizong's reign, he imposed strict restrictions on the employment of businessmen and others. These people could only accept material rewards, and they were not allowed to be officials.

But Li Kui gave it to the official if he liked whoever sang well, and the ministers advised him not to listen.

Moreover, the imperial examination system is very important to the Tang Dynasty, especially Jinshi has always been valued very much, and no one can escape the imperial examination.

But if it was during the reign of Tang Yizong, as long as you have a good relationship with the emperor, or you are his relatives, you don't need to take the imperial examination, and the emperor can directly grant you a Jinshi.

Tang Yizong also ignored human life.

He has a precious daughter, Princess Tongchang, who was born to his beloved concubine Feitian Qingyupei Guoshu.

When Princess Tongchang got married, the dowry was countless gold and silver jewelry, rare treasures.

Even the fences and baskets are woven with gold thread, the bed is made of crystal, tortoise shell, colored glaze, etc., the brackets of the bed legs are carved with golden turtles and silver deer, and the fabrics such as quilts are all imported from abroad.

In addition, there are countless jewelry and money, which is really extravagant.

As a result, Princess Tongchang died of a serious illness in the second year after her marriage. Tang Yizong was very sad, angry that the imperial physicians could not cure his precious daughter, and the two attending doctors were immediately executed.

All the other imperial physicians were imprisoned. Xiangguo Liu Zhan interceded for the imperial physicians and was demoted by Tang Yizong.

In order to be buried with Princess Tongchang, many court ladies were killed. The funeral was almost as grand as the wedding, and the funeral procession was as long as 20 li.

After finishing the work, he rewarded all the funeral servants.

It is estimated that the money spent for Princess Tongchang in the past two years exceeded the national treasury.

Tang Yizong believed in Buddhism. In fact, when Tang Wuzong didn't have Buddha, the power of Buddhism was already much weaker.

But Tang Yizong took the lead, and Buddhism flourished again.

It was also unintentional, which led to the invention of printing.

The first printed version of the "Diamond Sutra" appeared at that time. In addition, many Buddhist cultural relics from the Tang Dynasty have been left for the present world.

For example, some cultural relics in Famen Temple are masterpieces of that time.

Tang Yizong flattered the Buddha bone and worshiped it in the palace for three days to pray for himself, because at that time Tang Yizong's health had already begun to fail.

Because of the need for safety measures, the forbidden army and military battles stretched for dozens of miles from the capital to Famen Temple. Rich people and officials also held pujas in their homes and hired eminent monks.

The upper class of the entire Tang Dynasty burned a lot of money together.

But the Buddha did not bless the emperor who perverted and harmed the world. Not long after the Buddha bone relic entered Beijing, Tang Yizong became seriously ill again and died not long after. He was 41 years old at the time.

Originally, the Tang Dynasty had already begun to decline, but it was rescued by Tang Xuanzong's efforts to turn the tide. If a sage monarch takes over, maybe there will be a prosperous Tang Dynasty again.

But it is very unfortunate that Tang Yizong Li Wei is not only not holy, but also mediocre. He is a super invincible and stupid king, who accelerated the demise of the Tang Dynasty and really laid a solid foundation for the demise of the Tang Dynasty.

Tang Yizong, who has been in power for 14 years, is fundamentally different from his father.

However, it was this essential difference that caused the Tang Dynasty to completely lose the achievements of "Government of the Great and the Middle Kingdom".

As a result, after Tang Yizong's death, the Tang Dynasty fell into a whirlpool and eventually went down.

The video playback ends here.

The emperors of all dynasties, seeing this scene, couldn't help sighing. It was a pity that the Tang Dynasty had a chance to rejuvenate and become strong again, but it was corrupted by such a foolish king.

Great Qin.

"Tang Yizong Li Wei was in power for 14 years. He was arrogant, extravagant and dissolute. He didn't think about making progress. He trusted eunuchs and worshiped Buddha bones. He didn't know the danger in the face of internal troubles, and he didn't know the difficulties in encountering foreign troubles. This rekindled the point during Xuanzong's reign. It's sad that the light of hope has been completely extinguished."

Qin Shihuang Yingzheng commented in this way.
