86 – Father-in-law, give me your daughter – 4

“Hey…. Brother, don’t go.”

“Look at him. I think my back is the bed.”

Louis must have been tired from running around with a toy sword in the courtyard all evening, so she fell asleep as soon as she sat down to rest. I carefully put the kid on my back. I can’t leave it like this, so I have to go to my room and lay it down.

What the hell was the kid dreaming about, he talked to me in his sleep all the time he was carrying it on his back, telling me not to go. It made me laugh because it was so cute. Would it be like this if you had a younger brother with a big age gap?

“She thought she was a weirdo at first, but it wasn’t really anything like that.”

“I was surprised when I saw Mikhail earlier and screamed that she was a bad person. Eight.”

As if Hestia was dizzy just thinking about it again, she stared at the face of her little boy who was sitting on my back and lightly pressed her nose. Louie didn’t even move, as if he had been soundly asleep.

“I must have been very tired.”

“Because she has been running around so far without even solving her poison.”

No matter how young children are, they are not iron men. I carefully carried Louis into the room so as not to wake him. It was dusty because Nana Ruina had been running around outside.

Maybe that’s why, all the servants I encountered were frightened and told me to hand over the kid because he would take me there. Of course I declined all of them. Of course, I fell asleep, but I’m sorry if I wake up for no reason.

I gently set him down on the bed in Louis’s room. The kid fell asleep so soundly that he didn’t even know who was carrying him. I didn’t even know I actually carried it.

“You look like an angel when you are sleeping.”

“All kids are like that.”

Cordelia and Seol-A poked Louis’ cheeks while he was sleeping. As the girls said, they didn’t say anything and slept, so there was no angel. Even when they’re awake, they’re not particularly troublesome, but they’re the cutest when they’re asleep.

“Mikhail likes children.”

“Is that so?”

Seol-ah told me as I was wiping my sweat that I had some of that on my back. I never thought that I particularly liked children. Just like everyone else? Kids are all cute no matter what. It’s a universal emotion to like cute things. It’s the first time I’ve heard such a story.

“To be precise, he plays well with children? It’s easy to like kids, but it’s not easy to play with them.”

“Right. I think Mikhail will be a good dad.”

“I don’t know what to do because it suddenly floats me up.”

I felt embarrassed for Hestia’s praise for being a good father and touched the nape of my neck. Good dad I honestly don’t know. What a good father is and how to be a good father. I’ve talked to Hestia about having a few children like a joke before, but the fact that I’ll become someone’s father feels like a far-fetched story no matter how much I think about it.

“Well, isn’t it still a long story?”

“That’s right. You’ll have to graduate, so three years at the shortest?”

Three years. Can 3 years of time make me a real adult? I honestly don’t know. Even after 3 years, I still feel like a child, and the fact that I am the father of one life is quite heavy. I’m just blushing

We covered the kid with a blanket and went out of the room. Somehow, the first day is over. What would Cordelia play with now, she asked, like a child looking for her next toy.

“What are we doing tomorrow?”

“Okay. Just relax? You don’t have to do anything.”

Feels like a vacation? It’s not like you have to do something to take a break. It was fun at Cordelia’s house, but she was just as tired. Hestia tossed at me who nodded her head.

“Oh no, Mikhail is an exception.”

“Ex. Me?”

“Did you see it today? It’s honestly not welcome in our house.”

I nodded. As she said, I was an uninvited guest here. Except for the Count, who was openly showing off, the Countess didn’t pay any attention to me in the first place, and from Louis’ words, probably the Count’s younger brother did the same.

Hestia said.

“You don’t intend to stay still like this, do you?”

Of course, I didn’t intend to stay still. They say that the son-in-law is a 100-year-old guest, but it’s so sad to be treated as an uncomfortable guest who hasn’t been invited, let alone a 100-year-old guest. It wasn’t without that reason that I played as hard as I could with Louis. It got better at the end though.

It was only then that I began to understand her behavior as she bowed down to her family and tried to stop me from saying an apology.

“That’s right, but. Oh, so maybe that’s why I told you not to do anything at first and just stay still?”

“Yes. Rather than just bowing down and apologizing first, it’s better to show Mikhail’s sincerity, apologize, and convince him.”

Hestia nodded her head. Hestia, you had a plan!

“It was honestly unexpected that my uncle’s family came, but I like it. After all, it would be much easier for my uncle to convince me than my father. In that sense, getting close with Louis today is a very good sign.”

“Then, starting tomorrow, are you going to convince your uncle?”

“No. It’s relatively easier than my father’s, but that doesn’t mean the absolute difficulty is easy. Our family must be very stubborn.”

I was wondering where Hestia’s stubbornness to poop came from sometimes, but it was just a family history. I laughed a little at the way she talked about her unique bull stubbornness as if it were someone else’s business.

“I am going to see my mother tomorrow.”

The garden of the Gracia family bloomed beautifully in the summer. Roses were in full bloom, and butterflies of all kinds flew about.

And in a corner of that beautiful garden, I was undergoing a final examination by Hestia.

“You memorized everything, right? Say it again.”

“Speak clearly and confidently. Focus more on listening than speaking. Hobbies are gardening and talking about flowers.”

I recited the precautions I had been told since last night until my ears got scabs. I feel like I am preparing for any kind of interview. What are these, these are the things to be careful of when talking to Hestia’s mother.

Hestia made a tea time with her mother, Hestia herself, and me last night before I could tell her her own plan. And I received these special lessons in order to impress the countess as best as possible. As soon as I opened my eyes in the morning, I had a hard time trying to get rid of the wry Louis who asked me to play again today.

“Okay. Perfect.”

“How the hell did you prepare something like this?”

I admired her thorough preparation. To be honest, if you ask me to prepare for an interview for my mother, I don’t have the confidence to do it.

“Don’t talk nonsense. You have to do well. Few things are as important as a first impression in a relationship between people.”

“It’s not the first time we met.”

“Because this is actually my first meeting with Mikhail, who has changed. And it’s a completely different feeling for someone who always did good things to do good things, and for someone who used to do only bad things to do good things once in a while. Oh, I’m not saying that Mikhail was a person who only did bad things.”

“All right. It’s even weirder to add that for nothing.”

The preparations are almost complete. I took a deep breath, went to the table where refreshments were prepared, and sat down with Hestia. He had come out very early in preparation for an unexpected situation, so the countess hadn’t been seen yet.

“Don’t be so nervous. You look very suspicious.”

I took another deep breath and hit the ball once more. Hestia giggled at my stupid appearance.

“I mean. It looks very suspicious.”

I heard an unfamiliar voice behind my back. I jumped up from my seat and turned my head. Hestia also hardened her smile.

Behind my back, the Countess was laughing with a similar expression to Hestia. I felt my eyes turn bright yellow. I feel completely ruined from the first greeting.

“Oh, that, uh, how are you?”

“There is nothing to be so nervous about.”

My tone of voice was clear and confident, and I stuttered mercilessly, making the things I had memorized up to now pointless. I feel Hestia poking at her thighs from beside me. The Countess said she had nothing to be nervous about, and she graciously took her empty seat.

It was she who spoke to us first. She took a sip of her tea and opened her mouth.

“Is something very different from what I thought?”

“If that’s what you thought….”

“Should I say that I have become much more human than I remember. Before that, she was like a doll.”

I was speechless and scratched my nose. I’m talking about myself that I don’t even know, what answer can I give. At my reaction, my wife said, “Oh my gosh,” With a surprised voice.

“I wonder if it was rude.”

“No. Because it was my fault.”

“Why did you do that when you knew?”

“Yes?”

“Whoops, just kidding.”

The Countess was different from what I expected, and was a completely unpredictable person. She rubbed her palms on her pants, wiping away the cold sweat. I pretended to be as calm as possible and took a sip of the tea in front of her. Honestly, aside from the taste and aroma of tea, I’m not sure whether it goes in through the nose or mouth.

Hestia reprimanded her with her disapproving expression.

“Mom, your pranks are too naughty.”

“Our Hestia, it looks like the bean pods have been used quite a bit.”

“A bean pod?!”

“Then isn’t it? Make a spot that is obvious to the eye like this.”

The Countess completely destroyed Hestia with her few words. Hestia froze. Even so, she ate the cookies on the table with a calm expression, as if nothing had happened. She fed her extra strokes to Hestia, whom she frozen.

“My daughter, I didn’t know until now, but if a man stabs you once, your liver and gallbladder are all removed?”

“Um, Mom! What is that now… !”

“To tell you my honest opinion….”

Hestia and I both closed our eyes. What the hell are you talking about Instead of giving her a good impression, isn’t she being completely swayed by her?

“Well, since you are my daughter, you will take care of yourself, right?”

However, we didn’t hear what we expected. Instead, the countess stroked Hestia’s hair. Hestia looked bewildered. Of course, me too. She’s the opposite of the way she just stopped saying that she had just removed her liver and gallbladder.

Hestia replied stupidly.

“Yes?”

“I don’t remember raising our Hestia into a woman who would get caught by a bad boy and ruin her life. Actually, the day she went to say she wanted to break off the engagement, she said she would think about it a little more when she came back, so I wondered what the wind was blowing.”

What did Hestia mean for a moment? She pondered, then she was startled and she stood up.

“Mom! What are you talking about now?!”

“Look at him. Are you yelling at your mother now?”

“No, it’s not like that….”

“Anyway, I don’t think my daughter would have gone overboard without thinking. Do you think I seemed too irresponsible?”

I stood up from my seat and bowed my back.

“Thank you very much. Mother.”

“Ah, that doesn’t mean I really liked Mikhail. It’s just that I’m completely out of my hands about this. We have no intention of helping him convince him.”
