10, Just Before Summer Vacation

On the promised day, I prepared my outfit under Minako’s coordination.

The coordination of someone with a boyfriend feels reassuring.

Feeling that deeply, I headed to the meeting station.

“Kurusu-san, hello. The skirt and your neat style suit you well. You’re truly beautiful…”

“Thank you! Toyotomi-kun, you… um, your casual clothes look good on you too.”

I wasn’t confident about my looks, but my heart raced being called beautiful.

His straightforward opinion was dazzling.

We plunged into the karaoke box, and before we started singing, Toyotomi-kun’s magic show began.

“Look, if I do this… ta-da!”

“What!? The pattern’s different!? How!?”

Toyotomi-kun said he wasn’t confident as a beginner, but to me, who knew nothing about magic, he seemed like a pro.

His hands shuffling the cards were skilled, making it look stylish.

“Magi-catty!”

“Toyotomi-kun, that’s nostalgic!”

“Don’t say nostalgic! It makes me feel a generation gap.”

“Ahahaha.”

His playful attitude, showing his true self, was endearing.

The more I knew him, the more I was dyed in Toyotomi-kun’s colors.

After showing five types of magic, Toyotomi-kun declared the magic show over for the day.

“They were all amazing! Especially the first trick, it really moved me! I want to see it again.”

“Tsk tsk tsk. No way. I have a policy of not showing the same trick twice to the same person. It would lose its freshness and excitement.”

“That’s cool! So cool!”

“Right? Next time, I’ll show you an even more amazing trick, and the time after that, an even more amazing one. Keep looking forward to it.”

There was a real sense of trust that he would do just that.

Will there be a next time, such a delightful possibility!?

I’m so happy I could die…

“So, Kizuki-san, you’re starting summer vacation earlier than everyone else?”

“Yes. Though it’s just two days earlier. But with the surgery, it’s like I won’t have a summer vacation at all…”

It’s a hassle, but I must undergo surgery to live.

Surgery and hospitalization have become routine for me.

“But you’ll be free in the latter half, right? Don’t you want to go to the fireworks festival?”

“I’d love to, but I’m not good with crowds.”

“That’s okay, I know spots where there aren’t many people. It would be great, there are so many places I want to go with Kizuki-san.”

Toyotomi-kun notes down plans on his smartphone.

He’s really treating it like a date.

“What do you usually do?”

“I’m always gaming. During the summer vacation, I might replay ‘Breaking the Chains of Sorrow’ again. It’s really interesting. Fun, exciting, and thrilling.”

“Wow, if Toyotomi-kun recommends it, maybe I should try it too.”

“Definitely! Let’s talk about it!”

Talking about the same thing.

I almost want to ask if there’s something that exciting to look forward to.

“Alright, I declare I’ll message Kizuki-san every day during summer vacation! And more than ten lines!”

“Eh? Really? I might not be able to check messages on days I have surgery.”

“That’s fine. I want Kizuki-san to know more about me. Alright, if I miss even one day of messaging during my summer vacation, I’ll accept a penalty game.”

“A penalty game?”

“Let’s see… How about ‘I’ll do anything Kizuki-san says’? Let’s go with that.”

“Eh, really?”

Toyotomi-kun is insistently pushing forward.

His figure is cute, endearing, likable, lovable.

“This year’s summer vacation seems promising.”

“Yeah!”

Summer vacation.

We talked about going to fireworks festivals, pools, and window shopping.

I have a feeling I might get confessed to at the fireworks festival.

Even if I don’t, I’ll probably confess.

But first, I must endure the painful and tedious surgery.

“Let’s make it the best summer vacation ever!”

“I look forward to your messages every day!”

“Alright! I’ll do my best!”

My last walk home before the summer vacation ended.

Two days later, all the students would start their summer break.

With anticipation in my heart, I exchanged words with Toyotomi-kun.
