Excerpt from the official site of “Breaking the Chains of Sorrow” (trial version scam).

“I just keep pushing forward.”

Jumonji Takeru

The protagonist of this work.

A hot-blooded man who values friends and camaraderie.

Though he can be overbearing, his thoughtfulness for friends makes him popular with women.

His friendship with Akechi Hidetada, a childhood friend who is quite the opposite in demeanor, is surprisingly well-liked by him, contrary to what others might think.

“Big brother, you’re really persistent!”

Risa Jumonji

Takeru’s sister, not a twin though they are the same age.

She’s fed up with her brother’s sister complex, but in truth, she’s a brother-loving girl and a closeted brocon.

She often captures her brother’s sleeping face on her smartphone.

Excerpt from the “Visual Fanbook of Breaking the Chains of Sorrow.”

“Hidetada, you scum, I’ll definitely kill you.”

Takeru Jumonji

Oblivious to the fact that Akechi Hidetada has disliked him from the moment they met.

Also oblivious to matters of love.

An incompetent protagonist who fails to notice the heroine’s misfortune caused by Hidetada.

If he had seen through Hidetada’s scummy nature from the start, the game wouldn’t have begun.

Always slow to realize when he’s in a pinch.

The setting of “Anti-Gift” is somewhat fatal, so if there’s a sequel, I’d like to create a scenario that makes better use of the Gift abilities.

When the protagonist’s lack of popularity was revealed in a popularity poll, I thought, “Figures” (laughs).

“Being related by blood to you was my misfortune…”

Risa Jumonji

Visually, she resembles a TS (gender-swapped) Takeru.

Takeru’s androgynous face surprisingly fits female characters too, so it was adopted as is.

To avoid alienating users who might react negatively to an overt brocon, I’m conscious of portraying her as a girl of her age.

Without her vile nature, she might have been a good match for Hidetada.

Character Introduction from the Main Story of Scum and Villainy

Takeru Jumonji

By removing the scummy villain elements from Hidetada, the scummy villain best friend, what’s left is a normal friendship.

Suddenly, they were chatting about gravure, and I thought to myself, these guys seem pretty close.

I hesitated to add the phrase from the title “And the protagonist is too incompetent to be of any use…” to the scumbag character,

But once added, I must commit to his incompetence.

Basically, he’s an outsider when it comes to incidents.

I write him pretty harshly, but he’s a character I’m quite fond of.

Risa Tojimonji

When I wrote the happy ending scenario for Risa in the original work, I myself was taken aback, wondering, “Is this really a happy ending…?”

Conversely, the original Takeru is a protagonist who won’t make an appearance unless the heroine is driven into a corner.

The scenes where Hideyoshi and Emi, who shine in the original scenarios, commit evil deeds and get thoroughly beaten up are where my pen is most eager.

Like in “Kindaichi Case Files” or “Conan,” it’s the type where the case isn’t solved until all the damage is fully revealed.

Risa’s character still needs a bit more definition, so I’m looking forward to her future appearances.
