32. Trouble Magnet (Seeking votes at the start of the month~)

Thanks to a “historical attack,” I successfully ousted the background villain—a mere extra named Passerby Ski—who would have caused all sorts of trouble for Kefir’s efforts in this competition. With just my words, I managed to get Kefir’s project favored by the three muscular hermit sages.

As expected, the script for Kefir’s “main storyline” quickly changed, becoming “Kefir wins the competition, victory in sight.” The only difficulty was that this meant Kefir couldn’t show her face publicly, and the researchers for the project became Professor Moriarty and me!

Kefir didn’t mind at all, awkwardly saying, “Consider it as sending you to deal with the nuisances for me,” while truly acting as a “bodyguard” and “enforcer,” accompanying us the next day to the “Design Bureau” at the invitation of the three old men.

The Rosian Empire Design Bureau, as the script indicated, is an organization composed of powerful and influential old men who are quite insubordinate to Letty’s governance. Not that they’re bad; their disobedience stems from serving the Rosian Empire, not Ivan Letty.

These old men summoned us, clearly very interested in Kefir’s project. What it meant for the “Design Bureau to highly praise Kefir’s project” in the script was self-evident.

At that moment, inside the Design Bureau, I was facing a deadly script where “three muscular grandpas, in a bad mood, punched to death the babbling Ogelid.” I kept my cool, introducing to the three grandpas from yesterday.

“So, this is a vast energy resource beneath the permafrost of the Rosian Empire. With an investment in the specialized mining equipment shown in the diagrams, it can be extracted on a large, stable scale. Of course, environmental protection is crucial; ‘green mountains and clear waters are worth more than gold and silver mountains.'”

Kefir and Professor Moriarty watched me, as I was doing what Kefir was supposed to do.

The three old men glanced at each other, thankfully not bursting out of their clothes today.

“This energy resource has indeed been mined by the Rosian Empire before, but due to uncertainty about the reserves, we didn’t dare to scale up, ending the operation hastily. That little girl Ivan Letty even mocked us with: ‘The light from my electric discharge is better than yours!’ It’s infuriating!”

With a loud clang, a crack spread from the fist that hit the table to the doorframe, and a screw flew towards my forehead, luckily deflected by Kefir drawing her sword.

“Cough cough! In any case, this project is of great research value. However, since it’s still in competition, any further validation can only be done by Moriarty and you. When necessary, our Design Bureau will provide assistance. Some things are not appropriate to say now, but we believe that you are already a shoo-in for winning this competition.”

“Every term, we have to suppress the urge to hit people, looking at a bunch of meaningless projects. Occasionally, a few stand out, but they’re just ‘the best of the worst.’ This time, we’ve finally seen some decent research! You’re worthy of it, Moriarty.”

“Kefir has won the project competition and obtained the treasure!”

With the script out, I breathed a sigh of relief. Kefir’s treasure-hunting script was confirmed, and with the attitude of the three old men just now, as long as no accidents occur, Kefir’s storyline is sure to be smooth sailing. The “spy” who almost forced us to return to our country hasn’t appeared recently, and it seems there’s no script that can stop us now!

After politely saying goodbye to the three explosive old men of the Design Bureau, Professor Moriarty said she needed to “return to the office” and left first on the way back.

When I saw the words “Kefir approaches Ogelid” in the script, Kefir had already taken action!

Seeing no one around, Kefir moved swiftly towards me. Thankfully, in broad daylight, our dear Miss Kefir didn’t have the shame to do anything strange; she came close just to whisper in a low voice.

“Ogelid, you hardly looked at my project, so why is it that both yesterday and today… I feel like you know more than us? At first, I was worried you’d be foolish enough to mess it up, but now it seems… maybe you really should become a student of Rubiyanka.”

“It’s all prophecy, just prophecy.”

I laughed it off, I couldn’t very well say “I’m a time-traveler, and in another world, you can’t even grow corn,” could I? Blaming it on prophecy seemed right.

However, this time, my cover didn’t seem to work.

“Liar,” Kefir muttered.

My goodness, she… she saw right through my lie?!

What happens when a villain deceives the protagonist, need I say more?

I immediately raised my hands in surrender.

“I surrender, I confess, it’s indeed what I knew from the beginning. After all… I’ve been running around, evading and understanding the situation of each country, so… uh, Kefi, why are you laughing?”

I’m still confessing honestly, Kefi’s face is flushed with laughter, making me hate myself for not having the strength to resist.

“There’s nothing, I was just thinking that you’re not just someone who relies on ‘prophecies’ to deceive others. Yesterday, I also thanked you for helping me out of a tricky situation. That Russian guy had been bothering me for a long time, and I didn’t know how to avoid him…”

Not that, that Russian guy is just a small villain, he’s not paying attention to you, he’s paying attention to someone else.

“Playing the role of a husband and wife is still useful.”

Ha ha ha… I wish you could consider my feelings. I forced a smile, not looking at the script, but I knew that even if I did, it wouldn’t make a difference.

As expected, the next moment Kefi grabbed my sleeve and turned me around, quickly scanning our surroundings before preparing to…

“Kefi, wait, there’s…”

“!”

Kefi’s face turned red, as if she had just realized what she was about to do.

I’m not refusing, it’s just that the script changed just now…

【Rouski accidentally met Kefi and Ouli De, and saw the two kissing, and was enraged.】

【Rouski wanted to kill Ouli De.】

Kefi, you’re too strong at causing trouble, big sis.
