I created the Bureau of Anomaly Control
#81 - 80. Encounter (Please read it~)
"Maen."
The man had barely stepped out of the church when he heard someone calling his name.
He turned around, and Long Qin, dressed in a steampunk outfit from the last century, was leaning against the wall of the street, waving at him.
Maen walked up to her:
"You're hanging around near the church, aren't you afraid of being seen by them?"
Long Qin put her hands in her pockets and asked expressionlessly:
"What were you doing in the church?"
"Nothing good," Maen said. "They made a request to the Coordination Bureau to interrogate me about some things I can't talk about, so I came here."
"They didn't get anything out of you," Long Qin asked, acting like she knew him very well.
Maen shrugged cooperatively:
"No, my conscience is clear."
She nodded slightly:
"I saw the angel fly away from here. It seems he was satisfied with your answer. By the way, did they ask about what happened to You Yue back then?"
As she spoke, she was observing Maen's expression.
"No, why would you ask that?" he said curiously.
Long Qin looked at him with surprise:
"You wouldn't have forgotten her too, would you?"
He didn't answer.
When they first met, Long Qin immediately realized that there was a problem with his memory, which proved that normally he would not only recognize her, but his reaction at the time shouldn't have been so calm.
Therefore, Maen re-collected many photos of acquaintances around him, including staff from the orphanage, childhood companions, and patients he might have come into contact with in the mental hospital. He actually had some suspects.
But none of them bore any resemblance to Long Qin.
In other words, he had likely been in secret contact with this Long Qin in the past.
The girl shook her head with a hint of sadness:
"I didn't expect your memory problem to be so serious. You Yue is the reason you and I met. You asked me to inquire about her in Hell, to see if I could find any clues.
"But unfortunately, I haven't heard any information about You Yue over the years.
"If I had to guess, she probably died twelve years ago, or she died in some forgotten corner of Hell."
She patted Maen on the shoulder consolingly:
"It's good that you don't remember. I think it might be easier for you to accept if I tell you now. Also, your reward has already been paid. Just let it go."
Maen said:
"I can't understand what's going on from what you're saying, but why would she be in Hell?"
Long Qin corrected him:
"Only possibly.
"Souls who die at the hands of the Church and have enough resentment and strength may be summoned by Hell. And you said that You Yue was attacked by an angel, so her soul's strength must have met the requirements.
"Although it's fighting with Heaven for souls, even the most insane and angry of the dead have no more than a 70% chance of falling into Hell, let alone an ordinary girl.
"I've said several times that she's very likely dead, but you never give up."
Maen paused.
Then he asked:
"Can you keep looking?"
Long Qin smiled embarrassedly:
"You noticed, didn't you?
"Okay, the deal isn't over yet. I didn't expect you to be as sharp as you used to be, even now.
"I'll keep an eye on her whereabouts, but don't get your hopes up. That's my sincere advice."
Maen asked calmly:
"Is that all you wanted to say to me when you called me over?"
The girl shook her head helplessly:
"When will your brain get better? I can't stand talking to you like this anymore. It's like our past decade or so of friendship never existed."
Maen lied:
"I don't know."
His memory was slowly healing itself. The resistance adapted by his mental power could reverse this effect, just like not long ago, but the damage caused by the Unrememberable was far more profound than what he did himself.
So far, he had only remembered two things. Li's death was recent enough, and he had a long relationship with the old doctor, and he might even have had relatively strong complex emotions.
And the method of entering and exiting the Abnormal Control Bureau was likely one of the most important and stubborn memories in his mind, and the Control Bureau itself might also have some special properties that promoted Maen's memory.
However, these also proved that his memory was indeed recovering on its own, and that certain past scenes and things might help. Therefore, Maen was also planning to find an opportunity to return to the orphanage and his former residence, and even to see Chen Yun.
Long Qin showed obvious disappointment at Maen's answer:
"Okay, but I'm going back to Hell soon. If you still don't remember me by then, but you want to find me, do this."
The girl took out a folded piece of white paper from her pocket:
"This is the ritual to summon my projection."
Maen took it and glanced at it. The contents of the paper had many similar characteristics to the rituals submitted to Yu Di:
"Okay."
Long Qin watched him put away the white paper, her tone slightly heavier than before:
"Maen...
"I suggest you buy a plane ticket now and stay in another city for a while, and come back after this matter is over. It's not good for you to stay here.
"If you remembered, you would do the same. Trust me."
He said:
"They've stopped interrogating me. The Pope's plan succeeded.
"I'm no longer involved in stopping you. You can take this message back."
Long Qin paused:
"That works too."
The black-robed man actually took action against Maen in private?
He must have thought that she wouldn't hear about it so quickly, but he never expected that she would come directly to chat with Maen.
It seemed that she had to have a "chat" with the black-robed man.
Long Qin continued:
"This operation is our revenge against Heaven. You used to agree that angels are definitely not good people, so we are united on this matter.
"But if you stand in my way, I won't hold back because of our past friendship. Demons are souls of vengeance, and they will do anything to kill angels.
"Including betrayal."
Speaking of this, the girl thought for a while and added:
"But after the Gates of Hell are built, you can do whatever you want with those demon worshippers."
Maen answered honestly:
"I won't deliberately stop you."
He wasn't a hero or vigilante, and he didn't intend to take on any responsibility.
Demons and devils were definitely evil, but as Ning Changkong's parents said, if he really wanted to do something good, killing two more angels would definitely be more in line with so-called justice.
Long Qin nodded at him with a smile:
"Then goodbye."
She had a lot more to say, but...
Let's wait until he remembers.
