Chapter 368 Christmas Gift
Kara was confused the whole time, only nodding her head while listening to Karen's words, and occasionally adding one or two words of "uh-huh", "oh", "ok" and the like.
After a few words, the little girl suddenly transformed from a high school girl in Gotham to the president of a Fortune 500 company.
Not even any handover procedures were required, Karen completed the handover ceremony in just a few words. After all, to others, she has always been the chairman and has not changed at all.
Suddenly, Kara changed from a freeloader to the richest person in the entire HISHE Cafe. Shen You felt a little strange for a moment.
"Don't worry, it's not that difficult. The secret is to use your super brain more." Karen patted Kara on the back and smiled, "I will take you to see the company before I leave. It's very easy."
Helena kept looking in the direction of the door from time to time, and occasionally glanced at her watch. Although she seemed to be trying to hide it, some people noticed her abnormality.
"Who are you waiting for?" Shen You asked.
"What?" Helena shook her head hurriedly, "I'm not waiting for anyone."
"If you were waiting for him, he probably wouldn't come. But you should know that."
Helena's expression was a little sad.
Indeed, she knew that her "father" was not the kind of person who would waste his time on something like a Christmas party. She remembered that her father often argued with her mother about this when she was a child. The most common thing he said was "criminals don't celebrate Christmas."
It’s true that Gotham doesn’t stop much just because of Christmas. That's not to say that Christmas is the same. Batman's fan base always has its own way of celebrating. They will throw all kinds of Christmas-themed whims at Batman, and then after being thrown back to Arkham Bragging to each other in the cell to see whose idea was more creative.
Although she knew that she was unlikely to see him at this party, Helena could not help but look forward to it, as if there was a trace of fantasy deep in her heart, hoping to see the cloaked figure again.
Yes, she knew that was not her father. But she just missed him so much.
Karen patted her friend Ji on the back to express comfort, and the latter waved her hand to indicate that she was fine.
Barry approached Shen You strangely: "What's wrong with her?"
"She is Batman's daughter, and she just witnessed her father's sacrifice before she was brought to this world." Shen You glanced at him, "What do you think?"
The Flash said "Ah" suddenly.
"So that's it, I suddenly thought of a great idea for a Christmas gift!"
Shen You raised his eyebrows, vaguely seeming to have guessed what he was going to do.
"Well, I don't suggest that to you."
However, before he finished speaking, a circle of golden lightning exploded in front of Shen You, and the Flash turned into a whirlwind and dragged a string of lightning out.
Of course he was back before most of the party could even notice he was out.
In his arms was Batman holding the princess in his arms.
There's even a carefully tied bow on Batman's chest that looks like a ribbon, like he's been wrapped into a beautiful Christmas gift.
The moment the door opened, the whole room fell into an eerie silence. Everyone stopped what they were talking about and what they were doing, and all looked over. Some even opened their mouths in shock.
"Click."
Shen You, who was well prepared, skillfully took photos as a souvenir.
Batman Dark History is a plus. The materials for this project are becoming more and more abundant.
Batman looked at Flash with a cold face.
"Put me down."
Only then did Barry suddenly realize that he might have been a little careless.
If looks could kill, Barry reckons he'd be filled with batarangs by now.
"Oh! Of course, let it go now."
He puts Batman down. The two stood facing each other, staring at each other in silence until their eyes fell on the funny bow on Batman's chest. The Flash took off the bow tie at super speed and gave him a thumbs up gesture with a smile.
"Clang".
That was the sound of Helena breaking a mug.
Her eyes widened, as if she couldn't believe this was true. Karen smiled and patted her shoulder: "Don't be nervous, girl, you can do it."
Helena took a deep breath and walked up to Batman.
Batman glanced at his daughter from another world. He vaguely seemed to be able to feel some kind of blood connection. It was obviously only the second time they met, but he felt as if he had known this girl his whole life.
"Hehe." Helena tried her best to look natural.
"Yeah." Batman snorted.
Helena: "How are you lately?"
"Ordinary." Batman replied coldly, while crossing his arms and looking away.
After a moment, he said again: "What about you?"
"Same."
"Um."
The two bats, one big and one small, fell into silence side by side, seemingly unable to find a topic for a moment.
The Flash laughed out loud and whispered: "I know, this trick is called 'Bat Chat'."
Batman cast another disapproving look. The Flash hurriedly covered his mouth, saying that I am just a blockhead and you continue.
As it turns out, throwing two bats together is like two conversation stoppers colliding, and it makes for a tough day to talk about. But Helena is actually satisfied with this. After all, the father in her memory was also the type who didn't like to talk, so being able to spend the last Christmas together before leaving actually exceeded her expectations.
Although someone looked like a daredevil, at one point she even wanted to pick up the Flash and give him a kiss. He is simply the kindest superhero in the world.
Unfortunately, this time only lasted about an hour.
A beam of golden light shot through the night, hitting a huge bat on the snowy Christmas night.
Batman stood up and swung his cape: "I have to go."
Helena was a little disappointed. But she then said: "Maybe. Maybe I can come with you? You know, I was also trained by Batman. I can definitely help."
But Batman ignored her and continued toward the exit.
This looks like rejection. Helena sighed softly and said no more.
However, Batman stopped before going out and did not look back, but left a cold word.
"Don't hold back."
Helena's eyes lit up.
"yes."
Under the bat light, Director Gordon lit another cigarette.
"Will he really come?"
Detective Harvey Bullock tightened his coat and looked at Gotham, covered in silver under the heavy snow.
"Maybe bats want to celebrate Christmas too?"
"He will."
Gordon blew out a smoke ring.
"The criminal won't have Christmas, and neither will he. Besides, my instinct tells me that we will especially need him in this case."
He looked at the evidence bag beside him. The evidence inside was several blood-stained knives.
The owl mark is clearly engraved on the knife handle.
