Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#108 - Phase 1: Time Plague

Time magic has many taboos during its use.

Violating these taboos can lead to some rather terrifying consequences.

Meeting your past self is one of them.

The reasons for this are varied, not only involving the potential impact of future information on the past, but also the possibility of time travelers encountering the 'erasure' of time under the chaotic torrent of time.

For example, if you shouldn't go out today, but the current you tells the past you the lottery numbers, and the past you goes downstairs to buy a lottery ticket and gets hit by a car.

Because the past is changed, the current you might die directly, among other reasons.

Undeniably, some people are very sensitive about their "uniqueness". If two "selves" appear, they might even fight each other.

Every taboo of time magic has been paid for in blood by the Department of Mysteries and other pioneers of time research.

But there are always those who, relying on their great skill and boldness, disregard these taboos.

Like Voldemort, and like Roger.

Voldemort's reason is that danger doesn't happen to himself; all time-related risks are borne by the Horcruxes.

He only needs to use the Time-Turner to allow different timelines of himself to devour each other, cultivate the strongest Horcrux, and then let the strongest one merge with the current 'weak' self.

Roger's confidence comes from another aspect.

Through the precognition of his Danger Sense, Roger had observed Voldemort's methods. By repeatedly observing Voldemort's spells and the structure of the Time-Turner, combined with his mastery of time magic and alchemy, Roger created his own Time-Turner.

Roger returned to the past, one or two hours earlier, and had a face-to-face conversation with himself.

Thanks to the Danger Sense, the current Roger and the past Roger can achieve absolute mutual trust.

Because once either side harbors malicious intent, it will be immediately detected.

If the revealed information might significantly affect the present, Roger would also sense it.

This trust and safety allow Roger to conduct some experiments.

"I call it 'Time Plague'."

Roger said with a smile.

This world doesn't have magic that can travel to the future.

But being able to travel to the past is already enough.

"Look."

As he spoke, Roger reached into his collar and pulled out a pendant that shimmered with a dark golden light, seemingly operating, yet seemingly nothing was happening.

The moment the pendant appeared, Harry's vague perception felt like it was pricked by a needle, even more painful than when the lightning scar on his forehead was burning!

"After constantly communicating with various past selves," "'we' had an idea."

"To connect the past and present into a network with our thoughts."

Opening remarks:

: One 4

Once connected, yet mutually independent, I can sense the subtle differences between me and 'us'."

"It's still in the experimental stage."

"And once it succeeds,"

Roger paused.

"Every node in the past will be my 'mental anchor point'."

It's not a self-backup like Voldemort's Horcruxes, but more like a coordinate, a compass, so that Roger will never completely lose himself. Whenever he wants, he can look back on the path he came from and feel every subtle change in himself.

This development direction actually has many different paths. If it develops horizontally, it would be himself and himself forming something similar to the collective unconscious sea, Alaya-vijnana, becoming an individual that runs through time and space.

At that time, Roger will no longer fear the attacks of the timeline, because the past is the present, and when he is weakest, he is also equal to when he is strongest. Roger not only anchors his thoughts, but also anchors all his time!

And vertical development...

"Of course, my technology is still far from mature. In the future, if I want to go further, I will need many people to perfect it with me."

Roger said, patting Harry on the shoulder, the meaning self-evident.

Time Plague is Roger's fantasy. If he can surpass the Hour-Reversal Charm, surpass the backlash of time, and enter the time before he left school, or even further, constantly tracing back vertically into the past,

Until, passing beyond 1990, the year he descended into this world, and going to a more distant past.

At that time, Roger will be like a time bomb, completely plunging himself into the history of this world,

Like a plague, constantly spreading from the present to the more distant past.

Feudal era, Stone Age, Cenozoic, Cretaceous, Jurassic, Ordovician, Cambrian...

All the way back to the Big Bang, the moment the world was born!

From ancient times to the present, omnipresent.

That would be the true Time Plague!

At this stage, those are quite distant matters. Roger estimates that even if he can truly defeat the entire world alone, he may not necessarily have that level of power. The road must be taken step by step; you can't rush things.

Currently, the greatest use of Time Plague to himself is still the mental anchor point.

After completing the first stage of the mental anchor point, Roger can begin the second stage of his path to immortality.

The second and even third stages are extremely dangerous periods for Roger!

"...This is too crazy."

Unlike pure laymen who don't understand time magic, Harry, under Roger's hands-on guidance, is already one of the few qualified explorers of time power in the world today.

He understands how terrifying the things Roger is doing are. If it weren't for Roger being a powerful seer, ordinary people would have died countless times under the backlash of time and space.

Just as Harry frowned, preparing to continue discussing the matter in depth with Roger, a voice sounded from behind Harry.

"Hey! What's taking you so long? If you don't come back soon, I'm going to clear the table——"

Vernon, with his bulky figure and heavy footsteps, had just spoken half of his impatient words when he saw Roger standing at his doorstep, and the words in his mouth abruptly stopped.

Vernon doesn't have Hermione's exaggerated memory, but he wouldn't forget someone he just met a few days ago.

Especially someone like Roger, who is watched by many people like a star surrounded by the moon.

Vernon doesn't like those ghostly wizards. Facing Roger, he doesn't want to say any polite words.

"I——"

But Vernon found that he couldn't speak.

It wasn't that Roger did anything, but that Vernon himself was resisting.

It's like a mouse standing in front of a cat would instinctively cower, and humans would involuntarily stiffen when they see ferocious beasts and snakes.

And what Vernon faces is even more serious.

That is the instinctive suppression between different levels of life forms.

Muggles, wizards, self-matter recombination, time-dimensional differences.

There is a huge gap of three life levels between Vernon and Roger. This gap is already so large that even if Roger doesn't reveal anything, Vernon feels fear under the influence of the collective unconscious.

"Hmm?"

Roger noticed Vernon's abnormality.

After thinking for a moment, Roger understood the cause and effect.

Although Muggles don't know magic, their thoughts can also stir magic power. The fact that a large number of Muggles' negative emotions can nurture dark magic creatures is proof that they are one of the components of the huge ritual that envelops the entire world.

When a 'celestial body' with great 'gravity' appears, it will not only cause a reaction from a huge thing like Harry, but also affect a small thing in the magical sense like Vernon.

Now that the reason is known, it is naturally simple to prescribe the right medicine.
