Hogwarts: I am the White Demon King

#498 - Chapter 498 The Backbone of the Magical World

Fudge's body collapsed to the ground as if all strength had been drained from it.

His eyes were wide and round, his face frozen with a hint of unyielding spirit, his final stubbornness and resistance.

The Minister of Magic was dead, just like that, collapsing onto the dirty floor in full view of everyone.

The entire hall fell into a deathly silence, no one spoke, only the frantic echo of heartbeats in their chests.

The Aurors stood frozen in place, their faces pale, their eyes fixed on Fudge's corpse. Their hearts were filled with complex emotions, unsure of what to do.

Should they attack?

With Voldemort here, attacking would achieve nothing, only a pointless sacrifice.

Should they remain silent and still?

That would betray Minister Fudge's final aria, a betrayal of the justice in their hearts.

"Bella, you are as impatient as ever," Voldemort's voice broke the silence. He glanced down at Fudge's corpse, a hint of indifference in his tone, "Just a foolish simpleton who didn't know what was good for him. No need to get angry about it."

Bellatrix retracted her wand, bowed slightly, and said in a fervent tone, "Master, he insulted you. You deserve a better response."

Voldemort curled the corners of his lips into a smirk, not saying much, but instead raising his scarlet eyes and slowly scanning the remaining Aurors. In an instant, everyone held their breath.

"Today ends here," Voldemort's voice rang out coldly, his tone calm, yet sending chills down everyone's spines. He turned to the Death Eaters behind him and said, "The greetings have been exchanged. Let's go. I have prepared a welcome feast for you."

The hall was a mess, the broken stone pillars and scattered debris silently narrating the devastation of this raid. The Death Eaters' wanton destruction had completely neutralized the Anti-Apparition Jinx here.

No longer needing to use the fireplaces, these Death Eaters began to Apparate one after another, disappearing into thin air.

Voldemort, however, was in no hurry to leave, his scarlet eyes fixed on the cowering Aurors, as if savoring their fear and hesitation.

He would wait until all his subordinates had left before leaving, to bring today's operation to a perfect close.

Watching the Death Eaters disappear one by one, Amelia was frantic. She was waiting for Sebastian's support, but Sebastian was on vacation in Australia these past two days, making it difficult for him to arrive in time.

No!

She couldn't rely on Sebastian for everything.

Facing the Dark Lord, the Ministry of Magic couldn't act like a cheering squad; they had to do something.

Facing a powerful enemy, if they didn't dare to draw their swords, didn't dare to take even the slightest risk, then the Ministry of Magic had no reason to exist. They might as well disband on the spot, join Swann Alchemy, and become Sebastian's employees for a more stable life.

She knew that even Fudge, whom she had always looked down upon, hadn't disgraced the Ministry of Magic in the end!

Amelia's face flushed red, and she began to feel ashamed of her previous thoughts. She decided to stall the Dark Lord as much as possible until Sebastian arrived, even if it cost her life.

"Wait!" A sharp shout rang out, and Amelia stepped forward.

"Everyone, listen up!" Her voice was clear and loud, carrying an undeniable power, even though it still trembled slightly, everyone present was drawn to her gaze.

"Cornelius Fudge may not have been a perfect Minister, he may have made many wrong decisions, but he just did something no one can deny—he chose to die standing rather than live on his knees!"

The hall was silent, everyone's eyes focused on Amelia, even the remaining Death Eaters stopped Apparating, looking at Amelia with ill intent.

"Fudge's resistance tells us that no matter how powerful the darkness we face, we should never surrender! If we put down our wands today and choose to run, what will that mean? It will mean the victory of the Dark Lord! It will mean that the Ministry of Magic—the land we protect—will no longer be the hope of the wizarding world!"

"I will not let that happen, because we are the guardians of the wizarding world! We stand here not to admire the Dark Lord's performance, but to fight, for those ordinary people who believe in us and depend on us!"

"We may fall, but our will cannot! We are the backbone of the wizarding world!"

"Now, I ask you, no—I order you! Pull yourselves together, grip your wands, and let the Dark Lord see that he can never defeat true justice!"

"Sebastian is already on his way. Everyone, work with me to stall the Dark Lord!"

Saying that, she raised her wand and fired a curse at Voldemort: "Bombarda Maxima!"

Encouraged, the remaining Aurors roared and fired curses.

"Uninteresting fools!" Voldemort easily deflected the incoming curses, "Since you don't want to die with dignity, then I will help you die with dignity."

"Avada Kedavra!"

Seeing the green light coming towards her, Amelia had no ability to dodge, but her heart was extremely calm, and she only silently said: "For the wizarding world!"

Faster than words could describe, a phoenix cry echoed through the hall, and at the same time, the fallen centaur statue in the fountain suddenly came to life, leaping out to block the deadly curse for Amelia.

Seeing Dumbledore walking out of the flames, Amelia breathed a sigh of relief.

Fortunately, Dumbledore had arrived. Not so many people would sacrifice themselves in vain.

However, the people of the Ministry of Magic couldn't become mere spectators; they had to help Dumbledore share the pressure.

"Dumbledore has arrived, everyone, work harder and capture the remaining Death Eaters!"

Seeing Dumbledore appear, all the Aurors were as if injected with a shot in the arm, they shifted their targets and attacked those Death Eaters.

However, a wall of fire suddenly rose, separating the Aurors from Voldemort and the others.

"It's not time for the final battle yet."

Dumbledore calmly instructed, glanced at Fudge lying on the ground, then passed through the wall of fire and slowly walked towards Voldemort.

"Tom, you shouldn't have come here today, and you shouldn't have killed Fudge..."
