Hogwarts: I am the White Demon King

#250 - Chapter 250: Crookshanks the Kindhearted

Sirius Black transformed into a black dog, moving slowly and cautiously through the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

The Forbidden Forest at dusk was filled with a gloomy atmosphere. The ground was covered with a thick layer of dead leaves and branches. With each step Sirius took, a soft rustling sound echoed beneath his paws.

As he walked, he incessantly cursed in his mind.

What exactly was going on with Hogsmeade New Town?

They actually stipulated that all pet dogs must wear pet tags, be leashed, and have muzzles on their mouths.

As for stray dogs, they weren't even allowed to enter!

He couldn't even find something to eat.

Those patrolling Aurors were all sons of bitches, repeatedly saying that he was lucky and taking him to some stray pet adoption center.

They said that once he got there, he wouldn't have to wander anymore and would have an endless supply of dog food.

But who would have thought that once you got there, all stray cats and dogs would have to undergo sterilization surgery?!

Fortunately, he was clever and slipped away as soon as he sensed something was wrong.

Otherwise, his lifelong reputation would have been ruined there.

Although Sirius was constantly cursing in his heart, he remained vigilant.

He knew that countless dangers lurked here—from Acromantulas to centaurs, a moment of carelessness could lead to trouble.

If the commotion was too great, it might even alarm the professors at the school.

Therefore, his steps were extremely light, and his eyes were exceptionally bright, constantly scanning the surrounding environment.

His nose twitched slightly, sniffing for any unusual scent in the air.

As he approached the edge of the Forbidden Forest, the surrounding trees began to thin out, and the light gradually became brighter. However, just as he was about to breathe a sigh of relief, a faint sound of footsteps came from not far away.

Slowly, a ginger cat appeared before him.

Its fur was fluffy and soft, with a bizarre, flat face, as if it had been flattened by running into a wall.

A small metal tag hung around its neck, looking just like the pet tags Muggles put on their pets.

Sirius stared at the cat, feeling somewhat surprised.

How could there be such an ugly cat!

Sirius bared his teeth at the cat, trying to scare it away.

Unexpectedly, the ugly cat not only showed no fear but also walked towards him in a friendly manner, its eyes slightly narrowed, as if expressing some kind of closeness.

"Meow—"

Sirius was stunned. He seemed to understand what the cat was trying to convey.

His body shifted, returning to its human form. He crouched down and asked the cat, "Are you trying to help me?"

The cat nodded, meowed softly, and then rubbed against Sirius's outstretched hand.

Sirius became interested.

This cat was so smart; it must have Kneazle blood in it.

His luck had finally turned around; he had met a kind cat.

He rubbed the cat's head and carefully flipped over the metal tag on its neck, which clearly read:

[Crookshanks—Hermione Granger's Pet Cat. Hogwarts Logistics Department Certified]

Hogwarts Logistics Department?

When did the school establish a new department?

He had never heard of it.

How was it the same as Hogsmeade, even pets had to have tags?!

Sirius tried to take the tag off the cat's neck to take a closer look, but he found that the string attached to the tag was a special alchemical tool that couldn't be untied without a specific method.

With a slight tug, the cat would impatiently swat him with its paw.

Helpless, Sirius had to let go, trying to appear friendly.

"Crookshanks, have you seen a big rat with a missing finger at the school?"

"Meow—(Yes, I have)."

"Great, can you catch it for me, or take me to find it?"

Crookshanks nodded and gently patted the ground with its large paw, as if signaling Sirius to follow it.

Sirius became excited.

His luck was really getting better.

He had only wanted to scout around, but he hadn't expected to meet a friendly cat.

With the help of this cat, that rat Peter wouldn't be able to escape his grasp.

He transformed back into a black dog and followed the cat, moving forward.

The ginger cat seemed to know the surrounding environment like the back of its paw. It leaped lightly ahead, occasionally looking back to make sure Sirius was keeping up.

Cat and dog, they quickly traversed through the forest, gradually approaching the edge of the Forbidden Forest.

Looking at Hogwarts Castle outside the Forbidden Forest, Sirius's heart beat faster and faster.

Night was falling, and he could totally sneak into the castle under the cover of darkness.

If he was lucky, he could catch Peter tonight.

Thinking of this, Sirius quickened his pace.

However, the moment he emerged from the Forbidden Forest, a piercing alarm sounded from several large trees.

Damn it!

Why were there alarms here?!

Sirius reacted quickly, abruptly turning around and preparing to retreat back into the depths of the Forbidden Forest.

His movements were extremely swift, his limbs suddenly exerting force to dart forward.

But before he could run two steps, he felt his whole body stiffen and he fell directly to the ground.

Not good!

This was the effect of the Petrification Charm.

Could it be that this was a trap set for him?

Did that cat deliberately lead him into a trap?

Damn it!

He was still too impulsive and had actually trusted a cat of unknown origin.

Now things were bad, he had completely fallen for it.

Just then, a shrill voice rang out: "Fortunately, it's just a Level 3 alarm. The intruder is a large dog. We can turn off the alarm and then drive it away."

"Wait, Mary, we clearly saw Sirius Black's name on the map in the monitoring room just now. I think we should tell Professor Swan."

"Okay, that way, Professor Swan will know that we are working hard to maintain the safety of the campus."

"Mary, you go find Professor Swan, I'll watch this big dog here."

Listening to their conversation, Sirius, lying on the ground, gradually realized what had happened.

He had been attacked by house-elves?!

No wonder they were able to silently appear behind him.

Those hateful guys, who gave them the courage to attack a wizard?

Sirius was indignant, completely forgetting that in the eyes of the house-elves, he was just an ordinary black dog.

Who was so cunning as to have house-elves maintain the safety of the campus?

It was truly using people wisely. Throughout Hogwarts, only these little things could Apparate, their mobility was unmatched.

Not only that, but these little things were particularly stealthy.

Attacking with preparation against the unprepared, no one could defend against it!

Wait...

Who were they going to call?

Professor Swan?

—That disgusting, stinky swan?!
