Harry Potter's Catastrophe
Chapter 107: Mandrake and Buttons
"Don't tell them anything about us. It's some black guy, a cultivator, a mysterious person. Anyway, it's quite bizarre. Don't tell them." Just ask around when you come here. Maybe there's something wrong with them. Tell-tale secrets.
"Kani, you're just weird." Harry said with a smile.
"Oh, by the way, tell Hagrid too." Hagrid also knew that Carney had a lot of stuff, so he picked up the parchment on the table and wrote on it, folded it into a paper airplane and flew out.
"That's the timetable!" Neville reminded.
"It's okay. We only have one person in our dormitory." For some reason, when someone inquired about him, he didn't want anyone to inquire about him.
"So - what is our first class?" Carney asked after finishing breakfast.
"Professor Sprout's Herbology Class."
When they arrived at the greenhouse, many people were already waiting. Sprout took them to the third greenhouse.
"Our first class is a practical class. I hope you haven't forgotten everything you learned last semester during the holidays." Sprout said standing in the middle. The long tables on the left and right were filled with the same kind of plants. "So - who can tell me what plant is on the table?"
Hermione only read the book without looking at the pictures, and for a moment she didn't recognize what the plant was.
Neville raised his hand immediately and looked at Sprout with nervous little eyes. Even though Neville had raised his hand to answer questions many times in herbal medicine class, he was still unavoidably nervous. After all, Hermione, who was a mad question-answer, did not raise her hand.
"Mr. Neville Longbottom."
"It's mandrake, Professor."
"Very good, I only mentioned it slightly last semester, five points for Gryffindor." Professor Sprout said, "Today we are repotting the mandrake. Who can tell me about the mandrake?" characteristic?"
Hermione was the first to raise her hand, and Neville's half-raised hand silently lowered it.
"Mandrake, also called mandrake root, is a powerful restorative that is used to restore people who have been transformed or cursed to their original state." After Hermione knew the name, she didn't even know what to do. Mandrake, the perfect match, immediately came to mind.
"Excellent, ten points from Gryffindor." Professor Sprout continued, "Mandrake is an important component of most antidotes. But it is also dangerous. Can anyone tell me why?"
"Hearing the cry of Mandrake will kill you." Hermione raised her hand as fast as possible. Hermione always raised her hand and said the answer, so that others could not refuse her answer.
Everyone is used to it, including the previous Slytherin, because their headmaster had nothing to say about Hermione. Now they are with Hufflepuff, and they have already heard about Hermione's behavior.
"Exactly, five points for Gryffindor." Since each professor can only give a maximum of twenty points to a certain house per class, the same class will not appear twice in one day.
Professor Sprout motioned for them to come to the table, "Look, these mandrakes are still very young. You can tell their age from the exposed parts."
Indeed, they look like nest vegetables, with several large drooping leaves, green with purple leaves.
"Here, everyone wears a pair of earmuffs and gloves." Professor Sprout took out dozens of pairs of colorful plush earmuffs and distributed them. "When I ask you to put on earmuffs, be sure to cover your ears tightly. When it is safe, I will tell you to take them off."
"Now—put on the earmuffs!"
"Neville, if you want to complete the lesson, put the earmuffs over the earmuffs." Carney found that there was a slight gap left by Neville.
"I want to hear their cry. The seedlings are not lethal." Neville whispered to Carney.
Well, no wonder Neville learned so much about herbal medicine. It turned out that he was learning with his body. Carney covered his earmuffs because Professor Sprout had already picked up a pot and started operating it.
Professor Sprout grabbed the bunch of leaves and pulled them out hard. Many people opened their mouths, but Carney couldn't hear a sound. Under the leaf that Sprout was holding was a very strange and ugly baby, the kind with grass growing on its head.
Its skin is light green, like tree roots, with some spots and dirt particles stuck to its body. They squirmed, and the unearth was accompanied by sound effects, but Carney couldn't hear it and could only see its mouth opening and closing.
Then, he noticed that Neville was lying on the ground.
Harry and the others also found out, moved Neville to a more comfortable position, and put the earmuffs on him again.
Professor Sprout had already arranged the pot of mandrake. He took out a large empty pot, stuffed the writhing and ugly mandrake doll into it, and shoveled a few spoonfuls of plant fertilizer into it. Buried, leaving only the leaves exposed.
Professor Sprout took off his earmuffs and gave them a signal to take them off.
"Our mandrakes are only seedlings, and hearing their cries is not fatal," she said quietly. "However, they can knock you unconscious for several hours, as is the case with Mr. Neville Longbottom. I don't think any of you want to miss the first day of school, so make sure you wear earmuffs when you are alive."
"When it's time to pack up, I'll try to get your attention." Professor Sprout continued, "There are four people per plate, and there are large flower pots and plant fertilizer below you."
Because Neville was missing, there were exactly four people in the dormitory, and Hermione was with the other girls.
The repotting of the mandrake was easy for Professor Sprout to do, but Carney's operation was even simpler. He pulled out the ugly little thing with one hand and took out a larger flowerpot and stuffed it into it. I shoveled a few spoonfuls of plant fertilizer and it was done in one pot.
Harry and the others were not so relaxed. It took a lot of effort to pull it out. Harry was kicked several times by the ugly little thing. Fortunately, their strength was not too strong. Ron's little fist was so full that he almost missed it and fell to the ground.
Seamus was more intelligent. He pulled it out and spun it around a few times in an attempt to stun the Mandrake doll, but it had no effect other than throwing the dirt from the Mandrake doll onto Carney. He deserved the small punches and punches. The little feet still have to suffer.
By the time get out of class was over, they were already half exhausted, and Carney was covered in dirt. Should the credit go to Seamus or the Mandrake doll?
Neville happened to wake up when get out of class was over. They really doubted whether Neville did it on purpose. However, given the strong sound insulation of the earmuffs (Harry and Ron's whining could only be seen but not heard), and Neville's attitude towards the Herbology class, A positive letter should be someone who has just woken up.
They quickly rushed back to the castle, went back to the dormitory, took a shower, and rushed to the Transfiguration teacher's class.
The second-grade class is a little more compact than the first-grade class, but there are still no classes on Friday afternoon.
"Today is your first Transfiguration class this semester. I hope you can still remember and write down what you learned last semester. Don't let me down." Professor McGonagall was as serious as ever, and looked at Carney specifically for the last sentence. .
Professor McGonagall's class should be regarded as the most difficult of all classes. Judging from everyone's performance, we can see that not many people have mastered the Transfiguration perfectly so far, and there are no more than five people from the two colleges combined.
There are two Gryffindors, Carney and Hermione, and the other three are in Ravenclaw. Although Carney has clearly taught the Gryffindor friends last semester, it is still difficult to pass.
This time it was a beetle. The beetle was turned into a button. Professor McGonagall gave everyone a beetle.
Everyone started to take action, but there was no response the first few times. They probably forgot all about what they wanted to order.
After all, a holiday had passed, and it was normal for him to have forgotten most of what he had learned before. It took Hermione several attempts to successfully transform.
Carney's wand gently pointed at the beetle, and the beetle turned into an emerald green jade button with patterns engraved on it.
"Twenty points for Gryffindor." Professor McGonagall walked around for a few times. Except for Carney, everyone else could only pass the test, while most of them failed.
It was very interesting to see Harry next to Ron. The things shot by the wand could not hit the beetle. I don't know whether it was because the beetle was too out of position or because their aim was too poor.
They didn't get a shot until the end of get out of class. They were so angry that they wanted to poke the beetle with their wands, but Professor McGonagall was watching and they didn't dare.
After the entire class, no one else received praise from Professor McGonagall. Perhaps it was because of Carney, who had invisibly raised the standard. Those who could deform before had already passed, and the complete deformation had already reached the approved level.
The Ravenclaws sighed, and so did Hermione. In the past, they could still get a few points in the Transfiguration class, but now it seems that they can't get any points. Hermione tried to get any points, but she got all the points. Twenty points at a time. .
The get out of class bell is the lunch bell, and we all walk towards the cafeteria after class.
"Hey, it's only the first morning, and I'm already so tired that I'm about to fall down." Ron groaned, and Harry wasn't much better.
"Carney, why didn't your transformation spell produce any magic?" Hermione saw Carney perform the transformation spell, and the transformation was completed with just a finger of the wand. It seemed that it was not the same magic she used.
"It was the first time I took Professor McGonagall's class. Did you see any magic when she turned the podium into a pig?"
"So -" Seamus thought for a moment. "Is Professor McGonagall wrong?"
"It is normal to project magic, but Professor McGonagall is obviously not an ordinary transfiguration teacher." Carney explained, "The result of transformation has nothing to do with this. It is just a faster and more accurate release of transfiguration."
"Stop talking about this, you have a headache..." Ron rubbed his head. He couldn't listen to discussions about studying, especially when he didn't want to study.
