Harry Potter and the Attack of the Squibs
Chapter 3 The Giant's Wand
It was dark and damp, as if every brick was a deep blue-black color.
Lu Ke looked around, this was Diagon Alley.
"You need a wand."
Professor McGonagall seemed to be very familiar with this place. She turned around and left with a calm expression.
But Lu Ke was stunned.
Only now did he finally understand that he had indeed arrived in that magical world.
Although it is a dark alley, there are all kinds of signboards on the roadside, from owls and cauldrons to potion ingredients, wands, and robes.
"Follow me."
When Professor McGonagall saw that Lu Ke did not follow, he stopped and turned around and said something.
Lu Ke woke up from the surprise and quickly followed him.
Professor McGonagall walked through the alley and headed straight for Ollivander's wand shop.
Lu Ke followed closely, and when he arrived, he looked curiously at the very shabby shop.
Like all the small shops in the alley, there is a glass display window here, but compared to the dazzling array of other places, there is only a magic wand placed in the display window, and you have to look carefully to see the words on the signboard.
Professor McGonagall walked into the shop and nodded to the boss: "This little wizard needs a wand."
Lu Ke followed him into the store and saw the old man who had just climbed down from the ladder.
"New student at Hogwarts?"
Ollivander looked down at Lu Ke curiously. Anyone who saw him at first sight would notice those silver eyes. For Lu Ke, they did look a little scary.
"Let me take your measurements first."
Lu Ke stood there and spread his arms, letting Ollivander measure the length of his arms.
"Is your wand okay, Professor McGonagall?"
Professor McGonagall nodded silently.
"I can remember that day very clearly, nine and one-half inches, fir wood, dragon's heart tendon, very hard wood, full of strength, right?"
Professor McGonagall nodded.
Then Ollivander let go of his hands and let the silver ruler measure Lu Ke's head circumference, and he turned around and climbed up the ladder.
"The wand can only exert its full power in the hands of its true owner," Ollivander came to Lu Ke holding a pile of long boxes, "Let's try it."
"Eleven inches, holly wood, phoenix tail feathers, soft, flexible, just an extraordinary combination."
Lu Ke couldn't laugh or cry.
He certainly couldn't take Harry's wand away.
As expected, as soon as Lu Ke waved the wand, Ollivander took the wand away.
"Next one."
By the fourth time, Lu Ke felt something was wrong.
Ollivander looked at Professor McGonagall awkwardly, and finally said, "Isn't the person in front of me a little wizard?"
Lu Ke sighed helplessly: "I'm a squib."
But as soon as he finished speaking, Professor McGonagall said with a strong face: "Hogwarts has sent out the admission notice."
Ollivander took out a handkerchief from his pocket and touched his forehead.
"You can never go wrong with Hogwarts."
Then Lu Ke fell into hell.
Every wand he touched didn't belong to him.
Ollivander was almost going crazy with embarrassment.
Finally, Professor McGonagall reluctantly stopped Ollivander.
"Maybe you and Hogwarts are right, Lu Ke was chosen because of other talents."
Ollivander glanced at Lu Ke with a reluctant look on his face: "There is one last resort."
Professor McGonagall nodded: "Just do what you want, we have wasted too much time."
Ollivander sighed, raised the wand in his hand and pointed at the wand boxes piled up against a wall in the shop, and then said: "Lukebrawia Vidax Belt!"
At that moment, a box flew out from the bottom and landed in Ollivander's hand.
"Ah, sixteen inches, oak, dragon heart sinew... a giant's wand, you are stronger than you look, Lu Ke."
After speaking, Ollivander took out the wand and put it in Lu Ke's hand.
Lu Ke held the magic wand and waved it twice, but nothing happened.
No light, no spark, nothing.
But Ollivander laughed: "It suits you."
Professor McGonagall nodded: "Thank you, Mr. Ollivander."
After putting down a few gold galleons, Professor McGonagall took Lu Ke out of the store.
Her next destination is a clothing store.
"Don't doubt yourself."
Perhaps because Lu Ke had been silent on the way, Professor McGonagall suddenly spoke to comfort him.
Lu Ke shook his head: "It's okay to admit that I'm a Squib. I'm already a student at Hogwarts. That's enough."
Professor McGonagall glanced at Lu Ke in surprise, but said nothing more.
She agreed with what Lu Ke said from the bottom of her heart. As a student of Hogwarts, even if she is a squib, she can create her own value.
The two quickly completed a vigorous shopping trip. The only thing that wasted a little time was that Lu Ke really wanted a pet.
"But this is not included in the Hogwarts funding project," Professor McGonagall rejected Lu Ke without hesitation. "If you want, you can buy one after work."
"I can work now, as a squib, have to work a little harder."
Professor McGonagall hesitated.
"I can lend you money."
Lu Ke accepted Professor McGonagall's proposal without hesitation.
"The owl is the messenger of wisdom, but the cat is a symbol of elusiveness. I don't know which one is more suitable for a wizard."
Professor McGonagall glanced at Lu Ke in surprise when he heard what he said.
"I suggest you choose the owl, because my name is Minerva."
Lu Ke smiled and accepted Professor McGonagall's suggestion, so he left the store with a small ball of gray fur and completed this big purchase.
"Hogwarts won't allow students to stay in school until term starts, so do you have a place to stay?"
Lu Ke shook his head: "So I need to work right away to make money."
Professor McGonagall stopped and sighed.
"You can live in the Leaky Cauldron. This is included in the Hogwarts funding project. I won't lend you any more money."
Lu Ke smiled: "Thank you Professor McGonagall."
Then they walked into the Leaky Cauldron together.
"Professor McGonagall!"
The boss greeted Professor McGonagall warmly, but Professor McGonagall still looked serious.
"A room until Hogwarts starts."
The boss glanced at Lu Ke in surprise, but didn't say anything. He took out a key and handed it to Lu Ke.
"Remember to come down for lunch every day..."
When Lu Ke took the key, he smiled at the boss: "I want to work here. Do you accept it as a part-time worker?"
The boss was stunned for a moment and glanced at Professor McGonagall.
"You are only eleven years old."
Lu Ke nodded: "Some things don't require magic."
