Game of Thrones: Lord of Winter

Chapter 97: King's Landing Prepares for War

"This is news from the north." Tyrion took the parchment.

The news was that Winterfell was captured by the Ironborn. The news on this piece of paper was much more detailed than the one in Cole's hand. It said that Bran Stark, the second son of Eddard Stark, and Rickon Stark, the youngest son, had been burned to death by Theon Greyjoy.

The little devil knew that his queen sister would be very happy to hear this news, but it was not good news for them.

With those people in the Stark family, it is very likely that their hatred will extend to them, just like the unprovoked disaster he suffered in the Eyrie.

The lion will always be framed, simply because he eats meat. But the wolf is not much better, Tyrion thought.

He had to tell Cersei to keep an eye on the girl named "Sansa". This was their only bargaining chip. If she ran away like Eddard Stark, then his brother Jaime would really not come back.

I heard that Eddard Stark appeared at Stannis' place, so it should be the case. They all thought that Stannis was the heir to the throne, but everyone knew that the throne should belong to the Targaryen family. It was not Stannis who sat on it, but the son of the mad king across the narrow sea.

Compared with these, what really made Tyrion feel uncomfortable was Cole.

He had clearly asked his father to make him a knight, and even proposed to make Harrenhal his fiefdom. But now he is working under Stannis, and he has done a lot of great things.

You see, you have done so much for Stannis, but he only made you a ruin.

When he first saw the news, Tyrion even thought he was reading a knight's biography.

Cole in the letter made him feel unfamiliar. The boy who followed him silently had such a powerful ability. Tyrion couldn't help thinking: How great it would be if he was in King's Landing at this moment.

He thought Cole was dead, and even felt sad for a while, but who knew that he miraculously came back to life.

Is their friendship deep? Not really. They have only been with each other for about two months. Even the bond between Shae and him is much stronger than this friendship.

He is just a bastard who clings to the powerful. Tyrion cursed him in his heart: Just like Bronn, whoever pays for it should do the work.

Tyrion really wanted to tell him: "What Stannis can give you, Lannister will pay double."

Now Stannis is leading the army to King's Landing. This army is completely given to him by Cole. But there is also good news. Cole seems to have been placed in the rear by Stannis, and he was asked to stay at Storm's End.

Tyrion couldn't understand why he did that. Did he think that the boy's record was too outstanding and he was afraid that others would say that Stannis won the Iron Throne with Cole?

No, it was really stupid to think so.

Or did Stannis want to give Storm's End to Cole?

Would Tywin give Casterly Rock to someone else? Obviously not. Just like he would not consider himself as an heir, even if his father would rather he die in battle or join the Night's Watch, he would not let him inherit Casterly Rock.

But this is the best, at least we don't have to meet on the battlefield.

Tyrion made full preparations in King's Landing. He told Cersei that the castle would not fall, but he was not confident, although the castle was reinforced by generations of Targaryens.

Although the castle is high enough and thick enough. But they don't have so many people to guard it.

Most of the people in the capital garrison are newly recruited, and he shouldn't have too much expectation on them.

The alchemists brought him a liquid that can burn on water, which they called "wildfire".

But to Tyrion, the green flames were like ghosts one after another. But it's okay, let Stannis's fleet taste the taste of this ghost.

What he can expect is that his father Tywin will arrive with his troops as soon as possible, because they can't hold on for long with so few people.

He asked Shaga and others to enter the Royal Forest. He hoped that these warriors from the mountain clans could slightly block the pace of Stannis's army.

Although these barbarian warriors were brave, in regular battles, especially in defending the city, discipline was far more important than bravery. He would not doubt that these people would escape or surrender to the enemy, but he could never expect them to obey orders and defend the city walls.

Tyrion assembled dozens of ships on the Blackwater River. In addition to the fleet that originally belonged to the city defense, he recruited all the merchant ships docked in King's Landing. There was no ship on the entire Blackwater River at this time.

There was even a group of traitors in the city who had already called Stannis the king in advance. They were called "Horned People", but these idiots didn't know that their news had leaked out.

There was a eunuch in the palace who had a lot of hands and eyes. His ability even made Tyrion feel afraid, but at least now, he helped Tyrion a lot.

If he hadn't informed, Tyrion would not have known the existence of this group of horned people.

If it breaks out on the battlefield, it will be a huge hidden danger.

He has done everything he can. But sister Cersei doesn't seem to think so.

She blames herself for stealing Tommen and wanting to harm Joffrey. She even threatened him with Shae.

Cersei doesn't need to use her pretty head to think about it. Before Joffrey gave birth to a child, Tommen was his heir, and Tyrion just wanted to protect him.

As for harming Joffrey, although this kid is a bastard, how could he do anything to his relatives.

Who knows, anyway, he is a little devil, if he is angry, he will catch anyone and send him to the seven hells.

The courtyard of the Red Castle directly leads to the hall. The castle has a total of seven towers.

In the hall, there is a velvet carpet from the door to the Iron Throne. The king came in from the bronze door and walked straight to the ugly chair.

The throne was built by Aegon the Conqueror with the swords of the surrendered. Sometimes Tyrion wondered if there was Valyrian steel among these swords?

Ever since seeing the sword called "Ice" brought by Eddard Stark from the North, Tyrion can be sure that the "Winter Night" in Cole's hand is also Valyrian steel.

Similar color, equally sharp.

The conditions brought by the little devil of the Wolf family are to release his father and sister, plus return their family swords, and at the same time announce that the North will no longer be affiliated with the Iron Throne.

Tyrion thinks they should have a good talk, and it would be best if they can use this Ice and Sansa to exchange Jaime.

His rooms were in the Hand's Tower, with Myrish carpets, round windows framed in gold, a meeting room and attic, but Tyrion wished there was a woman there.

Lord Tywin had forbidden him to bring prostitutes to the castle.

But where was Tywin now? Tyrion wished he was right there.
