Game of Thrones: I Created the Magic Web
#65 - Ruby Beach
Bran's body jolted upright in bed, his dull eyes gradually clearing.
He remembered.
Startled, Summer had rejected his consciousness, and he had returned to his own body.
Bran wiped away nonexistent cold sweat, controlling his body, which had not yet fully adjusted, as he sluggishly climbed out of bed, his mind still marveling at the shadow in the river.
What a huge lizard-lion, it could probably swallow a person whole in one bite.
Why would a lizard-lion run out of the Neck?
Bran didn't understand. He wanted to ask His Grace, who possessed much magical knowledge, but the steel piece had been malfunctioning for over half a month, and Arya had been sad about it for a good half a day.
He had to tell everyone about the danger in the river.
Bran made a decision.
"Get out of the way, we are men of House Tully, with urgent information to report to the King!"
"Don't block the road!"
Urgent hoofbeats and shouts came from the west.
Bran walked to the window, and a dozen or so riders in chainmail and leather armor galloped from the River Road towards them, finally stopping outside the inn, dismounting, and rushing inside without a moment's delay.
The riders disappeared from Bran's view, leaving only flustered servants outside the window leading the horses.
Bran couldn't completely suppress the curiosity in his heart. Since gaining this magical ability, he had become increasingly unable to endure the pain of "not seeing."
He skillfully slipped into the body of a little bird, flying to the rafters of the inn.
The panting riders attracted the attention of everyone in the hall. The leading messenger opened a wooden box, containing two letters sealed with the sigils of the direwolf and the trout respectively.
The messenger looked around, not seeing a crown.
"My lords, Duke Hoster has sent us to deliver letters. His Grace the Crown Prince and Lady Stark have sent urgent information from Winterfell. May I ask, where is His Majesty the King?"
Ser Barristan stepped in front of the messenger. "His Majesty is not here. I am Ser Barristan Selmy, Captain of the Kingsguard. Give the letters to me."
"You are a great knight." The messenger presented the wooden box, but his face showed no sign of relief.
"Although I don't know the contents of the letters, the Duke instructed us to inform His Majesty the King as quickly as possible. We have hundreds of soldiers behind us coming to support us. Please, my lord, take this seriously."
Barristan immediately became serious.
The Kingslayer stood up and said, "Captain, what are you waiting for? The King and Lord Eddard probably won't be back until night. Either go into the woods to find them, or quickly open the letters and take a look, lest we delay important matters."
The little bird on the rafters hoped to know the contents of the letters now.
Barristan did not disappoint the little bird's expectations. He opened the letter, and although he didn't read it aloud, the little bird could fly to a suitable position itself.
Flap, flap ~
The little bird's movements did not attract anyone's attention.
Before the two letters were forcefully closed by a tense hand, its bright black eyes saw some words: Bloodraven, King's Landing, controlling beasts, attack, King, Duke Stark, support.
The shadow of the lizard-lion uncontrollably invaded Bran's mind. He immediately thought of a terrifying scene.
No!
Bran jumped out of bed again, but this time he actively withdrew from the little bird.
He pushed open the door and ran frantically downstairs, even knocking down several servants in a row, but none of that mattered anymore.
He rushed into the hall and saw Ser Barristan and the Kingslayer in a heated argument.
"There's a lizard-lion in the river, a huge, huge lizard-lion, I saw it! Father and the King are in danger, go save them!"
All eyes focused on him. Bran only cared about pleading with the two Kingsguard, "Believe me, everything I said is true. There's a monster in the river, the monster is about to attack!"
"Please act quickly, it will be too late!"
Ser Barristan made a decision, "No risk can be ignored, I would rather believe this is true. Prepare immediately!"
The Kingslayer inexplicably smiled.
Hundreds of elite soldiers were quickly assembled. After a brief explanation of the mission, the team immediately went deep into the forest.
Even after repeated requests, Bran was still left at the inn. He wanted to enter Summer's body again, but he still failed. He had to choose a hunting dog and quietly follow.
Hundreds of kilometers away, Joffrey took a deep breath.
The letter had been delivered, the King was hunting, and the lizard-lions were already in position, only needing the final strike.
Joffrey closed his eyes, his mind completely focused on the magical beast thousands of miles away.
He opened his eyes again, and in his vision was a clear, flowing curtain of water. Other than aquatic plants, no fish or shrimp dared to appear before this monster's eyes.
The lizard-lion brought many strange senses. It was like experiencing another crossing, the world felt completely different from before, everything felt like a first experience.
No wonder Bran was so addicted that he couldn't extricate himself.
It was time to act.
Joffrey flicked the lizard-lion's thick, powerful tail. The next second, he teleported to the riverbank, so fast.
He climbed ashore, ambushing in the woods by the beach, waiting for the King to arrive.
King Robert was laughing loudly while holding a broken spear. At his feet was the huge wild ox that had just been killed in the duel.
"How was that, Ned? I told you there wouldn't be a problem. Who am I? The man who personally smashed Rhaegar!"
The King pointed to the river next to the woods, "Right there, I still remember the scene that day, Ruby Ford? Haha, a good name!"
"Yes, Your Majesty."
Eddard was unwilling to talk too much about Rhaegar, as it always reminded him of his sister Lyanna's dying request.
That child, actually mingling with Joffrey, it's really worrying.
Eddard didn't like Jon's choice, but forcing Jon to join the Night's Watch wasn't a solution either, so he could only worry silently.
Whoosh ~ Whoosh ~
The grass in the west rustled rhythmically, almost allowing one to imagine the posture of the beast moving.
The King excitedly nudged Eddard, saying in a faint voice that only he would make at this time, "There's prey again, don't move, watch how I catch it."
Eddard had long been accustomed to silence.
The King changed to a long spear, tiptoeing closer to the bushes.
Roar ~
The prey was still startled, turning into a black shadow and fleeing directly to the west.
"Ha, it's a big wild boar!"
The King shouted excitedly, and then started running after it. Eddard and a dozen soldiers followed closely behind.
Bran did not cherish his current body. The hunting dog accelerated recklessly, quickly surpassing the large group of soldiers in front, getting closer and closer to the King and his father.
He smelled his father's scent, and the smell of blood.
He could almost imagine the heartbreaking tragedy, but fortunately when he arrived there, he found only a dead wild ox.
He continued to chase along the scent.
As he ran, he suddenly felt that this road was very familiar.
The smell of water vapor reminded him that he and Summer had walked this way, this was the road to the west, ahead was the Ruby Ford. The lizard-lion was there!
The hunting dog ran even more desperately.
The view suddenly brightened, and he finally saw the river and the beach, a big wild boar, and a dozen figures at the edge of the woods.
But the huge and terrifying lizard-lion was rushing towards the King and his father with two rows of sharp teeth.
Bran thought despairingly in his heart, it's over.
