#29 - Wrath of the Sleeping Dragon

Chapter 29 The Dragon's Wrath

It had been two months.

Aelin wandered the streets of Pentos when he suddenly saw a man and a woman with silver hair and purple eyes.

The mission.

He was stunned for a moment, then rushed over.

...

After hearing Aelin's self-report of his audience,

Viserys's gaunt face suddenly revealed a grim and sinister look.

"You're a Lantel?! A lowly and shameless relative of the Lannisters! How dare you appear before a true dragon!!"

Aelin knelt on the dirty ground with a thud.

"Your Majesty, please understand!"

"Although I was born a member of House Lantel, I have always yearned for the rule of the true dragon and have never recognized the shameless rebellion of the usurper."

Aelin crawled on his knees to Viserys and gave a respectful bow.

"I dare not forget that Your Majesty is the true King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Ruler of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm!"

"Only the great House Targaryen is worthy to sit on the Iron Throne!"

The people on the street looked over.

Some who knew the inside story quietly explained Viserys's identity to those around them—the prince of the extinct Targaryen family, a penniless "beggar king."

People snickered.

Viserys ignored all the contempt around him, completely intoxicated by Aelin's flattery.

"The Seven Kingdoms still remember me, remember the true dragon. That's right, I am the master of the Iron Throne! The usurper's dogs won't be rampant for long, the true dragon's wrath will burn everything!"

Daenerys, next to him, was used to her brother's grandiose words. But she couldn't ignore the gazes of the people around her, which made her very uncomfortable.

She wanted to hide behind her brother to avoid these stinging gazes, but Viserys might not be willing.

It wouldn't be good if she awakened her brother's "dragon's wrath" again.

It wasn't fun outside. Daenerys regretted it.

She was living well in the governor's courtyard, why did she have to come out and be laughed at?

She looked timidly at the boy kneeling respectfully on the ground.

His light yellow hair and skin proved his Westerosi bloodline. Daenerys wanted to know more about her motherland, but she didn't trust this glib-tongued boy.

"Your Majesty! Your humble servant Aelin begs you to let me stay by your side. Please grant me the supreme honor of serving the true dragon!"

Aelin knelt on the ground, his tone and posture extremely sincere.

Viserys was very pleased. But years of wandering and fleeing had made him wary of everything.

"You just said that you were a servant of the bastard born of the usurper?"

Aelin raised his head, letting Viserys see his eyes filled with hatred and pain. "That was before!"

"I was living a good life at home, but the Lannister forces were too powerful and forced me to enter the palace to serve Joffrey, the cruel and vicious son of the usurper."

Aelin sighed and shook his head, "These years have been worse than death."

"Two months ago, I was forced to cross the sea to Pentos to accompany the purchase of dragon eggs. The sea is frightening, and I don't have the courage to cross the sea again, so I've been wandering in Pentos until now."

"In fact, I had a hunch, and sure enough, there has been no news or help these days."

Aelin's explanation was reasonable, "Your Majesty, how could I have even a trace of goodwill towards the usurpers again?"

Viserys thought of his own wandering life and quickly understood Aelin's reaction.

Besides, this guy was also a servant of the little usurper. Wouldn't such a person turning to support and serve the true dragon further demonstrate that destiny was on their side?

"In that case, I grant you the grace to personally chop off the head of Joffrey, the usurper's son. When I sit on the Iron Throne, all those who are loyal to the true dragon will receive castles, titles, and land!"

The arrogant Viserys accepted Aelin's allegiance, and Daenerys couldn't say anything at all.

But she still didn't quite believe it.

Everything this boy said might be a lie, how could it be such a coincidence?

"Yes, how could it be such a coincidence?" Governor Illyrio couldn't help but be a little suspicious.

Viserys and his sister met Aelin from the Sunset Kingdom for the first time in two months, and this guy used to be a servant of the Iron Throne heir.

Wasn't it really a conspiracy?

Aelin didn't know if he was doing the right thing.

In the past two months, he had finally gained a foothold in Pentos. As a fallen person, he should be very satisfied.

But he still remembered his mission.

Although the streets and alleys of Pentos knew of the existence of the dragon's remnants, Aelin couldn't get in touch with the two siblings in the Illyrio Mopatis's mansion.

Seeing that the deadline was getting closer and closer, and Khal Drogo was already on his way to Pentos, Aelin decided to take some risks.

With careful preparation and unexpected circumstances, Aelin finally ran into the Dragon family siblings on the street.

Now there was only one most severe challenge.

Aelin respectfully bowed to Governor Illyrio, "Governor, I am honored to see your face again."

The governor sat upright on the high platform in the hall, with an inscrutable smile on his face.

Viserys's tone was very impatient, "Illyrio, it's just a servant who desires to serve the true dragon, why be so suspicious?"

The governor did not speak.

Although he only regarded the beggar king as a pawn, now was not the time to make the pawn realize his role.

The governor weighed the pros and cons.

A Westerosi might be able to slightly soothe Viserys's volatile and fragile emotions. Was the risk great?

The governor looked at Aelin again, thinking about the various intelligence reports of the past two months.

Assassinations and conspiracies on the Iron Throne were all managed by Varys.

Prince Joffrey was still foolish and willful.

Even if this Aelin had a problem, what could one person do?

Illyrio trusted his old friend Varys, and he also trusted his power in Pentos.

"Alright. Aelin, from now on, you will concentrate on serving your true king and princess, and temporarily put aside everything in Westeros."

The governor raised his arm and walked down the high platform, supported by two servants.

"After all, this is Pentos."

Aelin watched the governor leave, deeply remembering the governor's reminder.

Pentos was full of dangers. Now that he had personally seen the dragon's remnants, he was only one step away. How could he dare to fall short?

That night, he closed his eyes soberly and thought a lot.

The next morning, after some instruction and guidance, Aelin finally entered the more secluded garden in the courtyard, led by other servants.

Among the ivy, the Dragon family siblings with silver hair and purple eyes sat resting at a carved stone table.

Aelin fully revealed the excitement in his heart.

"Your Majesty, Princess. Your humble servant Aelin is at your beck and call."

Viserys was playing with a delicate dagger in his hand, "I'm bored anyway, tell me about the interesting things on the usurper's side."

Even Aelin could see that the beggar king couldn't use a dagger at all.

"Your Majesty, the usurper has nothing interesting. He is not fit to be a king at all. With each passing day, the Seven Kingdoms suffer more and more. I only feel sad for the people of Westeros."

Aelin asserted word by word.

"The Seven Kingdoms will soon usher in a new king!"

"A true king!"

"A king supported by ten thousand people!!"
