"But Long Yuetian is neither a relative nor a friend to us. Why should we save her?" Zhai Yunsheng asked rhetorically.

"What do you mean by that? Do you not care about her?" Situ Zhong replied as the expression on his face changed drastically.

If Zhai Yunsheng and Jian Yiling were heartless individuals, all their work would be in vain.

"Why should we care about her? And compared to her life, shouldn't the Xie family's piece of vellum be more valuable?"

Zhai Yunsheng's gaze was sharp and he seemed to know everything.

"Don't act as though you know what we're looking for. Even if that piece of vellum was placed in front of you, you wouldn't know what it's used for," Situ Zhong answered contemptuously.

Situ Zhong assumed that even if Jian Yiling was a descendant of the Xie family, it was unlikely for her to know what secrets were hidden in that piece of vellum.

If one wanted to know the secrets that were hidden, one had to check the piece of vellum against the Goodman family's compass. One couldn't get the answer with either the piece of vellum or the Goodman family compass.

On top of this, they had to have some understanding of the matter.

"Well, whether or not we know what it's used for is our business. It has nothing to do with you. And thus, your decision to kidnap Long Yuetian was futile. You can decide what you want to do with her. She's at your disposal and this has nothing to do with us. We will help her by contacting the police."

Zhai Yunsheng's response perfectly encapsulated the words "ruthless and heartless."

Upon hearing this, the expressions on Situ Zhong and Zhang Xin's faces became extremely ugly.

They never expected Zhai Yunsheng to tell them to do whatever they wanted with Long Yuetian.

"Dr. Jian, are you also this heartless?" Situ Zhong asked once he realized he could not convince Zhai Yunsheng. Jian Yiling's appearance made her look much more convincible.

"I listen to my husband," Jian Yiling replied meekly.

Zhai Yunsheng hooked his lips and added: "Don't waste your time and energy on her. I'm in charge of our family and in any situation or circumstance, I have the final say. If I tell her to go east, my wife would not dare to head west. And hence, if I make the decision to not save Long Yuetian, even if it pains her, my wife would not dare to save Long Yuetian."

Upon hearing this, Situ Zhong sneered and said: "But isn't Dr. Jian the Dean of Lahaisen Hospital? Aren't you the mighty Dr. F.S? How did you suddenly become so useless and wimpy after getting married?"

Despite this insult, Jian Yiling replied with a serious expression on her face: "If my husband is strong and mighty, there's no need for me to be strong and mighty."

This response temporarily silenced Situ Zhong and Zhang Xin. None of the words they prepared could be used here.

As Situ Zhong realized Zhai Yunsheng was unyielding, he tried a different approach. He softened his tone and said: "Young Master Zhai, as you can see, the piece of vellum is incredibly important to us. If you're willing to cooperate with us, we can go and find the treasure together. As your wife is a descendant of the Xie family and the Xie family has been part of the Nine Dragons Association for several generations, this arrangement will be mutually beneficial."

"So you already have clues about this treasure?" Zhai Yunsheng asked.

"Yep," Situ Zhong answered with certainty. "The Situ family has been looking for treasure for more than half a century. I am willing to share our results with you if you're willing to provide us with the piece of vellum."

"Then do you know what's hidden in this treasure?" Zhai Yunsheng asked.

"I don't know exactly what the treasure is. However, it's definitely more than just gold and silver. There is a shocking secret hidden away which may have the potential to influence the dynamics in the entire world," Situ Zhong said with conviction and certainty.
